An Assault Gone Awry

In an effort to break the ceasefire forced upon the Horde by the fool, Varian Wrynn, The Grim concocted a scheme to assassinate all the heads of each major Alliance nation. A rapidly assembled war group, with Horde allies, was sent to Ironforge to begin the slaughter.

Unfortunately, due to the arrival of the Iron Horde, the Alliance leadership had prepared and trained themselves to new heights. While the newly trained guards were defeatable, the Council of Three Hammers proved too much for The Grim and their allies to overcome. In light of this new information, The Grim cut their losses and withdrew from the city.

However, the Alliance were not going to go unbloodied. In succession, The Grim visited Darkshire, Lakeshire, Goldshire, and the very gates of Stormwind itself, to deliver a message that Peace Through Annihilation was only delayed, and that the meaningless ceasefire imposed by the pinkskins and their dogs was worth less than the scrap of parchment it was written on.

Nearly a fortnight ago I joined the expeditionary force marshaled jointly by Leyujin and Fanyare. Our primary target was the Council of Three Hammers. We met very little resistance storming the dwarven capital. However the dwarf leaders proved far more formidable than we could have imagined. We were routed and forced to retreat to Black Rock Mountain.
After tending to our wounded we set out for our secondary objective, Stormwind. Utilizing scorched earth tactics we attempted draw the bulk of the enemy forces out into the open. First we assaulted Darkshire where we happened upon a cadre of alliance mercenaries. True to the Mandate, no quarter was given. Next we doubled back northeast and sacked Lakeshire. The defenses here were by far the lightest. We butchered two Alliance vermin before they could flee. Satisfied that the alarum had been raised in the capital, we made for the Tower of Azora to prepare for the final assault on Goldshire and subsequently the gates of Stormwind.
In Goldshire we come upon a small band of Hallow’s End revelers and merrymakers. Who knows? Perhaps they died happy, for our onslaught was so swift that they were face down in the dust before they even had the chance to scream. Soon more would-be defenders arrived but not nearly to break our siege. We left Goldshire ablaze and then formed ranks to advance on the gates.
We encounter small pockets of enemy squirmishers on the path to the capital so we were expecting a sizeable force would be waiting at the gate. However, we were somewhat disappointed to find a disorganized muster of adventurers. The fools fell like sheaves of wheat before the blade of harvest.
Withdrawing from the gates we annihilated what halfwits were daft enough to give chase. I would put the final tally of Alliance casualties somewhere near 20 combatants, 100 city guards, and 20 civillians.
