Grim Application For: Makuni
How did you hear about The Grim? Do you know anyone in The Grim?
Upon deciding to return to WoW, I started looking for a guild. All of my friends/former guildies have moved on to other games. I never got everything out of WoW that I wanted so I knew I would need help to achieve that goal. I would need a new home. I found this guild on the WoW forums.
The forums are The Grim’s primary method of communication. Will you check them regularly (at least a few times a week)? Yes, that will not be a problem.
Tell us about your roleplaying experience. In WoW? Elsewhere? Do you consider yourself a heavy RPer? What does that mean to you? I never been a heavy roleplayer in video games. I was in a RP guild in EQ2 called The Spectre Cartel. I thoroughly enjoyed that experience. I was also briefly in a RP guild in Wildstar called Fortune. I enjoyed that experience as well but leadership floundered and left the guild stagnant and eventually deserted. As far as RP goes, I've been the cast director at the local renaissance festival where our entire day was spent in character. I also play D&D with some friends on occasion. It's not heavy roleplay, but I thought I would throw that in. I'll adjust to RP in Wow.
The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild. Do you have any experience playing a character of this alignment or a character archetype that believes in structure with evil intent?
I've always leaned to the chaotic neutral way of life. Lawful Evil is just a little more to the left. I'll be fine with that.
Have you been part of any other guilds in World of Warcraft? If so, who were they and what server do or did they reside on? Let us know of your experience with them and what made you decide to either leave or continue to stay.
I was part of a guild called FIST on Deathwing when the game originally released. Full PvP...no RP. Loved that guild, hated to see it break up. I played with a guild named Vox Immortalis on Norgannon and that is where my main character currently resides. Vox eventually moved to LOTRO and thus...became inactive here. I played with some friends on the Underbog a year or two ago for a short time, but everyone just got bored and went their separate ways.
Are you applying on an alt (non-main) character? If so, what are you looking for here that you are not getting from your main character? If you are feeling honest or adventurous, please let us know who your main is.
I am applying on my main toon. The character is named Makuni and on the Norgannon server. Currently around level 92 or 93.
What race and class is this character? Why did you choose this race and class?
Tauren Druid. I fell in love with the Tauren the moment I saw them. I love the tribal aspect that they bring to the game. As for being a druid, I really can't say why I like the character. I originally played a Shaman and that was my main. I switched to the druid because my friends needed a healer type and the class allowed me to fill multiple roles. I just enjoy being a druid.
What are your expectations for your character after joining The Grim? What aspect of the game do you wish to focus on (raids, rated battlegrounds, arenas, challenge modes, achievements, etc.)?
I want to run dungeons to get gear and then, if my schedule agrees with your raiding schedule, try for a spot on the raid team. I will say up front that I lead a pretty hectic schedule. I have a full time job and I volunteer my free time as a search and rescue K9 handler. I stay on call 24/7/365. I can probably fit in a day or two per week to raiding as long as the times agree with my schedule. If not, I'll be happy doing RP, dungeons and some PvP.
What is your PvE (player-versus-environment) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a raid environment? Do you have any PvE experience from other MMO games?
I've played a Shaman and Druid in WoW. I enjoyed the shaman the most when he was enhancement spec'd. Elemental is ok...but it's not the same. The druid came about as a healer. I run balance most of the time because I am playing solo. Ideally, I would like to take on a healing role in the dungeons / raid teams. If a druid is not capable of filling that role, I'll move to DPS.
What is your PvP (player-versus-player) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a PvP environment? Do you have any PvP experience in other MMO games?
I loved open world PvP more than anything in this game. Deathwing was just that for me. FIST would role through zones killing everything and everyone in our path. We caused chaos. It was glorious. I did battlegrounds with 2 friends and I played my druid as a healer. My druid's PvP gear is better than my PvE gear but both are probably sub par at this point.
Did you read and understand our guidelines on character names, listed at the beginning of this application? (Please note, if your name does not fall within our guidelines and you do not want to do a name change, you are more than welcome to apply under a different character.)
Yes.
How is your computer performance when playing World of Warcraft? What is your FPS/load times during heavy graphical or high population times? Is your internet connection stable?
60 Mbps download - 7Mbps upload and very stable. Since I haven't really raided with this character I can't honestly say on the FPS in that environment. I can say that I am getting around 60fps in some areas of the game and sometimes even higher. My video card is outdated and can be replaced if needed.
Provide an armory link to your character.

What days/times do you typically play this character?
Saturday afternoon/evening & Sunday afternoon/evening are best for me. I can arrange a weekday evening (maybe two) as a dedicated game night if needed.
Have you read the Required Reading? Do you have any questions or concerns about anything there?
Yes I have read it and I have no questions.
Have you read the Mandate? Do you have any questions or concerns about it? Can your character live by it?
Yes, no and yes.
Do you have anything further to add?
I'll move my character over if you decide I am a fit for The Grim. (I hope you make that decision)

Re: Makuni
Your character is on another server? We are fine to interview you prior to your server move, as I know that's a big commitment. The next Inquisition is 7pm server time on this Monday night, in Muglore.
And cool, "As far as RP goes, I've been the cast director at the local renaissance festival where our entire day was spent in character"

Just wanted to give you a head's up regarding it.
Outside of mythic, raids are flexible in number of players from 10-30. We tend to run in the 10-20 range depending on time of year, so there will very likely be room for you when you hit level. Gearing pre-raid is very quick too. Plenty of us can give you advice if you'd like.
We raid Tues & Thurs, 730-1030 server (830-1130 Eastern). Since raids are flexible, unless you are a tank or healer, then missing days due to life is fine.
Unrelated: I want pics of the s&r pups. :)
Re: Makuni
Thanks for the info. I just hit level 94 last night. Leveling has been pretty easy. I'll take any advice regarding gearing. Having been away for so long, I am behind a learning curve for sure.

Re: Makuni
Yay another Louisianian! Where in Louisiana are you from? Sunderpalm and I live just outside of Lafayette.
Re: Makuni
Sorry about the delayed response. I didn't have notifications set up properly and didn't know you replied.
Re: Makuni
S'all good! A meet n greet is definitely in order, especially since my friends all live in Baton Rouge and I'm usually driving up there once a month or so anyway!
