Hallow's End: A Hunt by Mistress Revelry

Unread post by Keeper Of Lore »

A skittering of leaves blows through the door of the guild hall, borne aloft by a chilly wind. Both leaves and chill seem strangely out of place in Orgrimmar, as does the jack-o'lantern that sits on a small shelf near the fireplace. Behind it, you can see a note posted in an unfamiliar, scrawling script.

A chill in the air, the gloom settles in
It's time for the mischief and fun to begin!

Both youngsters and old ones will scream with delight
As monsters and ghouls will both tease and affright

The first of the revels I humbly present
To tease you with longing for more merriment:

The eighteenth begins the first task of the week
A fortnight you'll have to find what I seek.

The list will be posted in these very halls
Then - gather your comrades, for Hallow's End calls!

The seekers must travel in full fists of five
For not all these tasks can just one 'scape alive!

Your journey will lead you 'cross lands far and wide
Through dangers and dungeons where evils do hide

A prize will be given the first team that succeeds
In bringing the most of the items I need

So gather your friends and below sign your name
Come Thursday, the list marks the start of this game

Will you trick, or treat? It's yours to intend
The season is here - come enjoy Hallow's End
!

As you finish reading, a gust of wind blows out the jack-o'lantern's candle, and you can swear that you hear a merry cackling echoing high in the rafters. However, when you turn to find the source of the eerie sound, you are met only with familiar faces, none of whom seem to have heard the strange laughter.

by Syreena

Syreena squeals in delight and claps her hands after reading parts of the note.

"It's almost Hallow's End time!"

She scribbles her name largely at the bottom of the scroll, then turns and yells. "Who will be on my team?"

((This is going to be a scavenger hunt, to be completed by the end of Hallow's End. There will be a list of items and photos to get posted by Thursday - the plan is for people to form teams of five, as some of the items will only be able to be aquired in certain dungeons. Any questions, contact me.))

(( I think the idea is to be goofy and fun, also, so nothing too serious coming out of this. ))

Yichimet grins at Syreena. "I will be on your team, sister!"

Who could miss Syreena's squeal of delight? Knowing how much the little rogue had been looking forward to Hallow's End, Jarn added her name to the list as well.

((Goofy and fun = antithetical to Q, boo. But Ach knows how I roll. She'll ask for some nubless pacifiers and charred human skulls, I'm sure.))

Qabian sighs. "More children's games," he mutters. "I suppose I'll see what the list entails. If it involves enough complete and utter destruction, perhaps I will play."

Drinn stands not far behind the Mage, curiosity getting the better of her. She croons over his should inquisitively.

"Go a head and scribble my interest down ifin' ya would please.. "

Skumm limps into Grim hall. Blood drips from his armor and forms small puddles on the floor. Drinn casts her gaze from the blood to his face. He smiles and says, "Don't ye worry, it don't be mine."

"Either way you're making a mess, wormbag."

Skumm shrugs and steps past her to look at the page on the wall.

"Ye signed up fer this nonsense eh? I aspose I might as well come along te see that ye don't get slaughtered."

((Out of town this weekend but I'll participate as much as I can.))

“Your concern is touching, really.. “, she smirks, one side of her mouth just a little higher then the other in her typical way.
“Maybe we can get on Syreenas team. I know it’s a bit.. unconventional... but a group of rogues can do just about anything. And I think she comes with her own pocket druid.”
The elf claps her leather clad hands together thoughtfully as something playful settles behind her gaze.

Qabian shrugs, and writes Drinn's name down on the list, then pauses a moment and follows it with his own. "This had better not disappoint."

Her tinkling laughter echoes in the hall.

"Almost two full fists - can we get two more adventureres for the Hallow's End hunt?"

((All right - teams are no longer required. They are certainly allowed and encouraged, but once the list goes up, every participant will need their own items instead of sharing one among the group. Not quite enough people interested, which is fine, but I don't want to say to the "leftover" people who don't have a team that they can't play. List coming soon!))
