The first Trial: combat! Part 2.

Unread post by Zelby »

Set with my task I went to ashran the place in dreanor where everyone eventually comes to atleast once. I finally found a viable target. Gnome rogue. Recently actually expelled from the invictus sanctum.

For a while it was a game of cat and mouse. The gnome tracking me. Me tracking the gnome. The occasional tossed knife exchanged. But it had to end. I decided it would be on my terms.

forgoing sleep for a while I waited till I saw the gnome attempt to make camp for sleep at the waterside by the graveyard east of the middle of the road.

I slipped into the water and sneaked up on him. Sleep was making me weary but his lack of armor was an advantage I had to press.

I leaped from the water with a shadowstep garroting the forehead of the gnome- only to feel a Knife lodged in my own gut, Placed by reflex. The pain and burning sensation of clear poisoning drove me forward. If I was going to die for this challenge I WOULD take him with me. The free arm of the Gnome began to smash into my mouth in a desperate attempt for freedom.

I pulled tighter on the wire with my hands as I felt the Knife twist in deeper. In shock I coughed and convulsed as I felt what I thought was the hand of a titan Smack me. But was just a touch of kidney and part of my liver being shredded. The convulsion was enough to Force my muscles to literally yank the wire clean bisecting the top half of the gnomes skull like opening a coconut exposing inking grey matter. The knife slackened instantly and slipped out of the hand of the corpse and my gut. A mild decency for my pain as I fell backward.

I remember how beautiful the clouds looked. It was blood loss and poison infection doubtlessly. I tried to bandage the wound but found my self gasping for air and half wrapped in a bandage. Things started to go dark before a small flash of light and peaceful warmth made me want to stay awake...

Soon my eyes where filled with the sight of a Sunwalker Telling me to "Hold on". Never did get the bulls name...Pitty as I owe him my life and pride. He was kind enough to atleast scoop the brains into a sack for me. Even kindly got a mage friend of his to fill the bag with magical ice to keep it from rotting.

I spent the next day in warspear infirmary before being sent to undercity for advance anti-toxin treatments. During that time I made sure that damned bag never left my side. I was out of comission for about a half. To tally that is nearly a half month of tracking, a 5 min at best fight. Nearly dieing. Out of comission for another half month.

But I had proof in a sense. The bag of brains. Surely someone could read the remaining... what ever magic users call it, and tell it was a gnome brain.

When I was finally able to leave under my own power I went to the first inquisition... And that story is already known.

"Supplicant Zelby!"

The voice boomed from a metal box nailed to the top corner of the Supplicant dormitory, near the ceiling.

"A bloody bag of brains might be enough for your first trial, but you do need to use your own grey mush to finish the Second!

There do be three Grim to seek out! Find their stinking hides and learn a goatsucking thing or two about the Mandate! Here do be the list! Write it the" *horrible static and grunts about dae'mons that would preferably stay on their side of the Nether* "down and get to work!

Reaper Filora Livlet - This sack of elf flesh, despite her timid blade, did ride with the Grim on their assault on Aeirie Peak. May be you do learn of her mettle and courage under a Grim banner!

Harbinger Greebo the Twice-Made - *static and hiss of a missed transmission, laced with expletives and dark grumblings*

Harbinger Syreena the Shadowblade - Whatever you do, do not ask this one for a drink! Unless you do like the taste of poison!

Remember, Zelby, you do have one month to learn the meaning of the Mandate from these three true Grim! Do not fail me or you will have your skin -"

The box on the wall erupts in the squeal of feedback and hisses a death throe that ends in smoking wires and flickering flames.
