Grim Application For Feorn Starcaller

How did you hear about The Grim?
- I'm trying to remember whether it was Feorn suddenly getting stabbed leveling in Feralas, or a story from a guildy getting face smashed. The battle at Alcaz island is fairly prominent in my memories of the Grim.

What experience do you have with internet forums? Do you check them frequently or infrequently?
-I've been using internet forums as a venue for roleplaying for the last ten years. I tend to check them daily.

What sort of role-playing experience do you have? Would you consider yourself a beginner or Gary Gygax?
-I wouldn't dare compare myself to the late great Gygax, however I am fairly experienced. I've taken part in several tabletop games, I was active in forum roleplay on a private Space Station 13 roleplay server, and I was very active in-game on the same server. I was involved in Trek forum roleplay, and was heavily involved in the RP scene in Star Trek Online for the first couple years of release. I was also involved in a few Alliance side story lines in Vanilla and the Burning Crusade, but was not very active on the TNG or forums beyond a couple small posts.

The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild. Do you have any experience playing a character of this alignment or a character archetype that believes in structure with evil intent?
-Absolutely. Though more on the Lawful side of it. I've only played a couple characters that enjoyed what would be considered evil acts for their own sake.
Feorn as a character is not particularly evil but is definitely not good. He doesn't go out of his way to enjoy traditionally evil acts, but is more than willing to commit them in pursuit of his goals.

Have you been part of any other guilds in World of Warcraft? If so, who were they and what server do or did they reside on? Let us know of your experience with them and what made you decide to either leave or continue to stay.
-I've been a part of several guilds in World of Warcraft over the past nine years, for brevity's sake I'll only list guilds that I've been in on my main and that were serious.

<Blades of Lordaeron> - TN – Alliance. Founding member of this guild and remained a part of it until the end. Nostalgia may be colouring my memories, but some of the best times I've had in WoW were with this group, and I play with former members to this day. Progressed through Molten Core and ZG in partnership with First Legion. The decision was made to disband the guild and create a new guild for the non-RP PvE players. The officers and RP-ing members scattered into several alliance guilds until the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Reached the old honour system rank of Knight-Lieutenant with several members of this guild.
<Legends> - TN – Alliance. PvE raiding guild. I'm ashamed of my connection to most people that were in this guild, to be frank.
<Rooks> - TN – Alliance. I was in this guild for several months with former members of the Blades of Lodaeron until the eventual decision to reform the Blades of Lordaeron as a horde guild.
<The Blades of Lordaeron> - TN – Horde. A reformation of the officer core and several prominent members of the original. Played with this group again until the decision was made to disband and go our separate ways.
<Borrowed Time> - TN/Bleeding Hollow – Horde. Played in this guild through the end of Cataclysm. Raided 25 man heroics from BoT through Dragon Soul. Ended up stepping down as healing lead after completing Madness of Deathwing heroic. Took a couple year break from WoW shortly afterwards.
<Lost Champions> Wyrmrest Accord – Horde. RP friendly raiding guild, joined a raid team led by the former GM of Blades of Lordaeron this past February. Celethorn and Nadea decided to take a hiatus from the game recently, and the raid team fell apart. I decided it was time to take a break from raiding and get back to the things that originally brought me to WoW.

Are you applying on an alt (non-main) character? If so, what are you looking for here that you are not getting from your main character? If you are feeling honest or adventurous, please let us know who your main is.
-Feorn(Monk) isn't my main character. My main character is Feorn on Wyrmrest Accord (http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/w ... n/advanced). I would like to transfer my priest over, as soon as I create a new character background, and of course contingent upon the results of this application. I'm in the process of preparing my monk for end-game organized group content, my first stop will be PvE gear through LFR, Flex and Timeless Isle. I'm also trying to decide whether to make a swap to monk for my main next expansion.

Play on my priest has kind of petered out at the moment. I'm logging in once a week to do pick-up group Garrosh kills on Flex and Normal. I'm mostly playing my priest in conjunction with Fhenrir in PvP and assisting alts in levelling and gearing.

What are your expectations for your character after joining The Grim. What aspect of the game, if any, do you wish to focus on?
-I would like to continue to raid, if at all possible, though not on my monk. I would prefer to raid on my priest, death knight or mage. I'd like to get into PvP with my monk, both in the world, areans, and in battlegrounds. Finally, I'd really like to get some in character interaction back into my WoW time.

There are several other things I'd like to do before the expansion is finished, among them challenge modes, a respectable arena rating, levelling every class to 90, find a storyline to be a part of, get my proven healer title (Curse you wave 24!), and put together a couple dozen more transmog sets.

What is your PvE (player-versus-environment) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a raid environment? Do you have any PvE experience from other MMO games?
-I've raided in vanilla, BC(Tier 4/Kara/ZA), WotlK, Cataclysm, and now SoO in Mists of Pandaria. I've completed a small number of heroics when they were current content. I've done Heroic Immerseus and Norushen a few times and Galakras once.
Barring an experiment gone horribly wrong in Naxxramas(WotLK) as a rogue, I've been a healing priest throughout all my raiding. I would like to try to step into raiding as a Tank or DPS one of these days. I've been tanking on my Death Knight alt, but don't have a normal group to progress any further with.
The only other MMO that I've participated in endgame PvE content was Star Trek Online, which was far from challenging.
It should be noted that before MoP, I was playing a different priest who is currently at: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/w ... a/advanced

What is your PvP (player-versus-player) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a PvP environment? Do you have any PvP experience in other MMO games?
-I've been dabbling in healing in PvP since vanilla. In the old honor system I ended at a rank of Knight-Lieutenant. I participated in the first three seasons of burning crusade arena, though I never ended a season higher than challenger. I stepped into arenas in WotlK a few times, where I met Fhenrir. Once again I've started learning the ropes in arena with Fhen as a partner. Hoping to get into 3v3s in the near future as well.

Did you read and understand our guidelines on character names, listed at the beginning of this application? (Please note, if your name does not fall within our guidelines and you do not want to do a name change, you are more than welcome to apply under a different character.)
-Yes, Absolutely.

How is your computer performance when playing World of Warcraft? What is your FPS/load times during heavy graphical or high population times? Is your internet connection stable?
-A couple years ago my computer was absolutely fantabulous. It's still pretty neat. The only time I drop below 60fps is Ordos with multiple raid groups present. Load times are snappy with a couple of solid state drives. My internet connection is reasonably reliable, however I do live in rural Nova Scotia, so storms are apt to knock out power/cable for a couple of days on occasion.

Provide an armory link to your character.

Please forgive the state of Feorn's gear. As you can likely tell, it is a new character. I will be spending considerable time in LFR, Flex, and on the Timeless Isle in the coming weeks to gather gear.

Do you have anything further to add?
I noticed the post in the stickies section about a second raid team. Assuming raid start time ended up being after 7:30pm server time Monday-Sat and After 3:30pm on Sundays I would be interested in participating on any of my characters as needed if I'm accepted.

Hi, I am confused by the last IC letter to Syreena. All the guilds he mentioned working for were Alliance guilds. Was Feorn always a blood elf, or was he an Alliance character before? If not, how do you explain the race change IC? I've seen characters race changing to Forsaken before, which is about the only IC race change that makes sense and fits in with Blizzard lore.

Feorn was Quel'Dorei. I was playing with a bunch of Thalassian/Shen'Dralar/Half-elf RPers in vanilla that used a sprinkling of suspension of disbelief until Blood Elves and subsequently faction transfers became available for our in-game appearance to match our stories.

It was eight years ago, we were younger, forgive me my indiscretions.
