Warcraft Movie teaser debuts at Comic Con

Sam Raimi pulled out because Blizzard was being a dick about it. He (Raimi) and his head writer completed a script that Blizzard approved of; but at the last minute they pulled out, saying they wanted a rewrite due to it not being up to their standard. Raimi thought that was a little unprofessional and backed out - I think the head writer went as well and it went to that other guy whose name I do not remember because I am neither hipster or that far down the cinephile path.

Haven't heard anything beyond that, and that was maybe six months ago. Blizzard still wants to make it happen - but it will probably bomb. They are going to make it about the Alliance, which is going to put it probably on level to the Dungeon Siege movie... cheesy enough to enjoy with friends - but easily forgotten by all but fans. I hope they prove me wrong - but they are already three years past the high Lord of the Rings brought movie goers.

EDIT: I take some of that back. If they make it about Turalyon ... then it can probably be fucking amazing.

Yeah, I know all about Rami, and him pulling out, and the writing changes and what not. I am more surprised they are still going forward with this, when its prime would have been 5 years ago.

What I'm most curious about is if this will be done with real actors and effects (like Lord Of The Rings), or if the whole thing will be done cinematic style and be computer animated. Although if they say they'll begin 'shooting' I guess they'll use real actors. I kind of wish they'd do it as a cinematic but I suppose that would appeal to a much smaller audience.

I'm looking forward to it. No matter what, people will complain. That ship has sailed- they would have been much wiser to do this 5+ years ago, but I'd still love to see it happen.

I hope, for the sake of this movie, that they kept Metzen locked securely in a soundproof box somewhere while they wrote the script. Otherwise it will be three hours of Thrall crying about something and then ten minutes of him fixing everything with his magical orc powers.

I don't have high expectations for the movie (or any expectations, really), but at least Duncan Jones is a good director. Moon was fantastic, and Source Code is supposed to be very good too. With a good script and cast, it might have a chance of being more than a pile of shit.

It should be a live action film - I have not heard them getting away from that. Legendary will be behind it, though, so by "live action" you are going to get more of a blend of people who are alive surrounded by green screens.

Metzen is balls deep in this, Araun. The Metzen is all... the Metzen reigns. The Metzen.... Metzens.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it'll be a mix of live action and CGI.

Haven't been able to find a youtube post yet (Im sure they're getting shut down right and left, if at all) but I found a better description of the teaser (which kinda sounds like the opening cinematic....) Moon and Source Code were both fantastic movies however (particularly Moon) so I at least feel the movie is in good hands, creatively, so it should (hopefully) be no Mazes and Monsters (hurr). Duncan is also slated to be doing the Ian Flemming biopic so he must not be complete rubish, aye? Oh, and you might also know him as 'Zowie Bowie.' He decided to come out from under his dad's shadow but evidently has some of his talent. :)

Why, by Crom's beard, would they let Metzen anywhere near this movie? He tanked WoW and Diablo now they want him to play with the movie? Yea..no. I hope Duncan tells Metzen to piss off and makes the movie his way.

Blizzard is going to cling to this like an overprotected mother. No one touches their baby!
