Of The Grim

Unread post by Riplie »

A hand flicks a piece of debris from the sleeve of a robe as an exhausted sigh is released. Fanyare's robe once perfectly pressed, is now well worn. Small snags and hastily patched holes riddle the surface. Her footsteps are light against the perfectly swept floor of Silvermoon. Rounding a corner, she walks to a door, placing her hand against it wondering if the spell would still recognize her to let her in, sighing in relief as it opens.
Battles with The Grim have kept her from home. A place she surprisingly hasn't missed much, and only now visits out of some guilt. Within the home, the dust lays heavily against it's occupants, neglected books, and forgotten chairs. Upon the table lay several letters less forgotten then the rest of the room. What, she can't even bother to read our mail anymore her thoughts quipped, as she snatched the letters and flopped into a chair.Looking through them, only one seemed to have any importance, one marked with the seal of the Horde. Breaking the wax, she pulls the document out.

To the family of Vannesse Morningray
We wish to express our sorrow to report to you the loss of Vannesse. During patrol, she was lost from the group and we have been unable to recover her body to restore life. It is assumed she is lost.....

Fanyare stops reading, the paper falls from he hands and she prepares for her emotions. Her chest expands as she draws a deep breath, and then the room fills with nothing. To her surprise, no tears, no sadness, only anger. How could Vanesse be so careless? What did she do to be taken by the Alliance? It was then Fanyare discovered her sacrifice to the mandate of The Grim.

A letter neatly placed on the desk of the Inquisitor.

Inquisitor,
I now know my sacrifice for the Mandate. In my battles along side others of the Grim, we have suffered great loss. Loss I have mourned. Today I find of the loss of my own sister, and I do not grieve. I am no longer a Morningray. I am a daughter of The Grim. Please find with this letter my final tokens of my past, the letter of the death of Vanesse, and the final gift from my mother, a simple dress. From this day forward, I am of the grim.

Respectfully,
Battlefield Sargent Fanyare, of The Grim
