If you have anything to talk about, here is the place to do it. As an aside, I noticed that 3 of the 5 RP-PVP servers are in the same datacentre - in the same battlegroup even which, I would think, improves the chance of Blizzard rolling at least TN/Maelstrom/Lightninghoof together.

I doubt that their tech extends to cross-datacenter VRs, that is an invitation for trouble.

Re: Virtual Server discussion thread
From what I'm hearing, it's not likely that Emerald Dream will be included in the merge, since they are a high population realm. It seems like it's only going to be medium and low population realms.. Twisting Nether is at the upper end of the RP/PvP servers when you exclude Emerald Dream, and we are a ghost town. I'm disappointed that this may not include Emerald Dream, because I was counting on us being able to recruit from that realm. I'm not sure merging together the dying realms will work, but I'm still trying to stay as optimistic as possible.
At the very least, this will hopefully give us a fighting chance.

Re: Virtual Server discussion thread
Emerald Dream is part of our CRZ though, so it wouldn't surprise me if they do merge us.
Digging through my ancient memory, Maelstrom and Emerald Dream were the first two rp-pvp servers released the same day. They were vastly overloaded so they added TN 3 day later and those of us that came over from Cenarion Circle chose TN because the other two were so over loaded.

Re: Virtual Server discussion thread
TN was added within 2 or 3 hours after ED and Maelstrom. I know because I was sitting in the queue for the others when I refreshed the realm list and saw it added.
Lightning Hoof was added about a month later, Vent. Co. was added during BC expansion.

Re: Virtual Server discussion thread
I wouldn't be surprised if they made all RP-PVP servers into one virtual server. The high pop on ED shouldn't matter, because you could pick any other RP-PVP server to still play with your ED friends. I'm thinking that CRZ was Blizz dipping their toes into the virtual server idea.
My question is: how will this affect a single person in terms of sending BOAs to another server (that is clustered into the VS), and how will this affect names? Will names strictly be blocked by physical server, so there could be 3-4 Alakhai's running around on the same VS? Which further muddies the sending mail thought! Are we to start sending mail with @TwistingNether?
Edit: "Virtual Realms are sets of realms that are fused together, and will behave exactly as if they were one cohesive realm. Players on the same Virtual Realm will be able to join guilds, access a single Auction House, join arena teams and raids, as well run dungeons or group up to complete quests." That's from the blue patch notes, not from a MMO comment. Nowhere did Blizz say, "low pop" there; I would expect ED to be thrown into the mix.
They did say they're working on an article to release soon to further explain it.
