We won't see 3.1 until middle of April at the earliest.

FL still needs the Immortal for Heroic (and is missing 4 of the non-Heroic), but has the rest, if that gives an idea of time frame input, assuming they've been working on it since launch, since they had some of the first server 80s.

i know why they removed the amani bear, wotlk was about to come out and 80 was going to be the new standard.  this is just a content update.  just how damn impressive is the gear going to be that they remove the dragons?

I'm pretty sure they're just doing it to maintain a level of rarity to the reward.  Like the special mounts for top ranking Arena people.  The only way to effectively give "top ranking" raiders something special that the average person cannot access is to limit it by time, as they did with the Amani bears as well.

The blue quote says in essence that they want it to be real hard. When we had SSC on farm, that is when Kara dropped to 2hrs. So once Ulduar drops no doubt the really hard things (maly 6 minutes, no shocks on thad, immortal) will become attainable for the top 10-25% of raiders instead of the top 1-5% that they were targeting. They are introducing new ones - hopefully since we are starting UL with mostly naxx gear we will be able to wrok toward the rusty/iron drakes
Grisbault, Twice-Made.

No shocks on Thaddius is never going to be a gear thing, but a coordination thing. We've gotten through Thad with only ONE shock so we're almost there for that one.

ProtoDrakes are silly looking.  It's not that big of a deal really.  Blizzard has to keep something that only a very few can ever get or tons of people would quit enmass whining at how there can be no elites if everyone sees the content etc.  And if they didn't quit, they at least keep the forums o flooded with crap you can't find anything.  So the way it is now times 1 000 000.

There's actually still five proto drakes to get - red, blue, bronze, green, and violet.

Granted, the only that doesn't take either ridiculously good luck or a year plus of doing achievements is the red one.  And even then, you have to do all the heroic dungeon achievements.  But still, they're out there for those who want one.

Bronze is simple enough to get.  Just have to make sure you have people who know the instance, Culling of Stratholme, and can, on an individual level, do more than 2k DPS consistency.

yeah...bronze proto drake, aka time lost proto drake is a 100 % drop off a rare mob in storm peaks that has a very long spawn timer, shares spawn and pathing with some of the other rare mobs up there and to boot...is only ever aronud for about 15-20 mins before despawning.  Very luck based on catching that one.
