The large black female dragon lumbered through the cavern that served as her home lazily. The cavern was littered with eggs, her spawn. While the people of Azeroth knew of Onyxia and took measures to cease her efforts to expand the Black flight to its former glory, she was confident none knew of Keliztra and her breeding grounds.
Confident in a false truth.
Within an egg cluster was movement, trained, careful movement. One would have to concentrate just to notice the actions in the darkness of the cavern, and Keliztra was concentrating only on taking another nap. Her time here had made here lazy and apathetic. So much so that when a gust of wind came up through the cavern, a result of a fierce blizzard in the mountian region where she made her home, she failed to catch the scent of her intruders.
The large Tauren warrior pushed the Orc into the ground whispering "The wind, it just pushed our scent into the beast"
The two lay there a moment watching the massive creature and noting no reaction. "Seems the bitch feels rather safe here." Hektar snorted. Maybe killing her would be possible after all.
Sewati nodded. "She is still the largest creature we have ever faced, there is a good chance we will both die this day my friend."
"Then we will die with honour in combat. It has been the greatest privilege to fight at your side these past months." Hektar reached his hand out and clasped that of his Tauren friend.
The two slowly rose once again and began approaching the large dragon again. Sewati brought his massive spear up in preparation for their assault and Hektar brandished a pair of deadly axes. Neither showed any fear, though both were sure on this day they would die. Sewati moved off into the shadows behind a group of large rocks and prepared for Hektar to begin the battle.
With a fierce cry Hektar cleaved his axes through the nearest group of eggs, destroying them and their unborn guests. Keliztra spun about and, noticing her dying spawn let out a deafening roar. With a look of pure hate in her eyes the dragon began charging toward where Hektar sliced eggs and their occupants to pieces. Hektar watched from the corner of her eye as she came closer to him and even closer to the group of rocks Sewati sat in wait in.
As Keliztra passed the grouping of rocks Sewati moved from them with a speed unexpected from a being of his size. He ran between the legs of the dragon, thrust his spear into the underbelly of Keliztra and braced himself so the dragons own momentum allowed the blade at the end of his weapon to cut a long wound in her scales.
Keliztra roared in both anger and pain at once. She turned her attention to the horned creature below her and brought a leg into the air with the intent of bringing it down upon the head of her assailant. As fast as the tauren had made his way under her though he was gone. She looked about the rocks searching for the pest that had spilled her blood. She had completely forgotten about the Orc destroying her eggs until a searing pain shot through her side. The orc had called upon the elements and had sent a powerful bolt of lightning at the dragon.
As she turned to face Hektar she only caught a glimpse of the airborne axe before it struck her in her left eye. Anger overcame Keliztra as she brought in a deep breath. She then released upon the cavern an unforgiving blast of flame unlike any Hektar had ever seen. She coated every square inch of her rocky home in flame, burning her own eggs in her act of painful anger. As the buffet of flame ceased pouring from her mouth she saw what even she could not believe. Still standing before her, surrounded by flames on all sides, stood the Orc shaman. Steam rouse from Hektar and he was visibly exhausted, though suprizingly unburned.
With renewed vigor Keliztra charged Hektar. The orc brought his remaining axe up to the ready. "Time to die I suppose" he said to himself as the creature came closer at an alarming rate. The jaws of the creature opened wide and came straight toward Hektar until suddenly from the flames came Sewati once more, bearing his spear he charged toward the lowered head of the dragon and made contact a mere 20 feet in front of Hektar. The massive tauren was covered in burns, his fur burned off over most of his body, but he still managed to muster the strength to drive his weapon straight into the eye of Keliztra and pushed it through as hard as he manage.
Keliztra dropped into the dirt, her momentum sliding her through the dirt the last 20 feet before stopping dead right at Hektars feet. The orc and tauren collapsed, both near death, the Tauren from his burns and the orc from the effort he had used to protect himself from the flames.
"We aren't dead." Sewati mumbled. How the badly injured warrior was alive, yet alone speaking, was a mystery to Hektar.
"Not yet... maybe if we get out of here we will be able to go back home now." Hektar very much wished to rejoin his comrades in the Grim. He had left rather suddenly several months ago.
Maybe now he thought as darkness overtook him.
