Therean

(IC) What name or title do you go by?
Though I once had a much longer and prestigious name, adorned with a coronet of titles- that name died some time ago, and belongs with the past. I am known now, only as Therean, with whatsoever titles you are pleased to give me.

(IC) What is your gender and race?
I am a male of the Sin'dorei, formerly of the wretched.

(IC) What is your class in life? Why did you choose to follow this class?
I was once a magister of great esteem and standing, well known in the court of Quel'Thalas, an arcanist of merit. I have since renounced the arcane- my strongest remaining skills being with the subtle and timely application of smaller blades. Following my new path as a rogue was not so much a choice, after renouncing magery I sequestered myself in an isolated retreat in attempt to sweat my arcane addiction and best it. During this time, I had only a simple knife with which to hunt and survive- prior to that, in my time as a wretched elf... I had learned how to use a blade. Now, it stands before me as that only thing left I am good at suitible for my new life.

(IC) How many "Honorable" Kills do the Battlemasters currently have recorded for you?
One. On my way westward from Orgrimmar I happened upon a gulch with something of a skirmish in it. Though I had never truly joined battle before (my former life as an arcanist was notably 'hands off'), the vigor of renewal instilled in my by Lady Ryanica compelled me to enter the fray and claim the life of a Kaldorei skirmisher.

I took her blade, and commened her death to The Grim.

(IC) What drives you in life? How would the Grim benefit from having you among its ranks?
My sole purpose is to reforge myself in the fashion of a weapon, to redeem myself by serving something greater than I. The Grim resuscitated me from base wretchedness, I offer myself to you.

(IC) What did you do prior to The Grim?
I was once a well placed Magister in the High Court of Quel'Thalas, a standing Censor of Silvermoon High Court, and a fully recognised magister. Upon the destruction of the Sunwell, I descended rapidly into wretchedness, having been quite immersed in arcane energies all my life. From that time, I have little memory, but gather that I must have wandered the lands preying upon the weak and begging for magic essences. At some point I believe I stowed away to Orgrimmar, probably in a poorly conceived plan to access Horde Magicks. I completely missed the accession of the blood elves into the Horde and the rebirth of the sunwell, well entrenched as an Orgrimmar street rat, my mind shredded with essences and strange dust. Sometimes I might get my hands on a small glimmering shard and be blasted for a week, completely gone to the world.

Most recently I have been on a sabbatical of sorts, a self imposed exile triggered by Lady Ryanica and another Dark Mistress of the Grim, to renew and repurpose my then-wretched life.

(IC) What are your thoughts of the new direction the Horde has taken since the Cataclysm?
The news of the Cataclysm, and most passings since the destruction of the Sunwell, are days old to me. It is difficult to comprehend all that has transpired. Indeed, now even I, of the Sin'dorei, am part of the horde now. My views are decidedly unformed. There was a time when I might have scoffed upon these matters with disdain. It so happens no I owe everything I am to an organisation of the closest affiliation to the horde. The mandate of this organisation informs what opinions I dutifully take. Were you to change it, so I would change my mind to concur. As such, I would say the peacemongering of the pact is folly, but that loyalty to the horde is nonetheless materially important. I would urge the violation of the pact when and where possible, and suggest that perhaps this was Warchief Thrall's intention- knowing full well the pact he was making would be violated. Such is politics.

(OOC) The Grim is a role-playing guild that requires full immersion (heavy RP) of their members. What does that mean to you?
((Well 'Heavy RP' is a term specific to WoW, I believe. I will explain I am new to WoW. Anyhow, I would say it describes what would constitute the kind of RP to be had in a any White Wolf game done properly. A bare minimum of OOC, or none at all if it can be achieved, and an attitude towards play that fosters this in others.))

(OOC) The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild, ruled by a structure with the intent to see the complete annihilation of their enemies. Does this definition conflict with how you want to play your character? If it does, how do you expect to handle the conflict with other members?
((Not at all. My character is basically a reformed junkie that has pledged himself totally to the Grim as a weapon. He's the sort that would remain loyal even if the Grim defected to the Alliance and everyone else abandoned it.))

(OOC) What sort of role-playing experience do you have, online or off-line? Do you consider yourself a beginner or Gary Gygax?
((My uncle gave me a Red Box when I was 12, it used to be his. A year later I was playing 2nd ed. Became a DM in 3rd. Would describe myself as a good DM by about 3.5. I continue to play Pathfinder today (4th wasn't my cup of tea). Outside of that I've played a bit of d20 star wars, several Whitewolf games, and bit of this or that.

It is precisely because I am an avid RPer that I, a WoW noob, sought out the Grim as by all accounts one of the best RP guilds online.))

(OOC) Is this character a server-transfer or has it been renamed recently? If so, what was your previous server and/or in-game name?
((No.))

(OOC) What are you, the player, looking for in the Grim? What are your expectations of the guild?
((As described, I sought the Grim out largely because of it's famous standing as a giant of WoW RPing. Aside from that, I do like to be good at the games I play, and must say perousal of your guild readmes has pleased me to find you encourage a competitive approach to the actual game that is WoW. Remember, even in pen and paper RP I prefer D&D- not affraid of a bit of min-maxing of specs to whoop arse. I don't see that it undermines RP at all))

(OOC) When joining the Grim, each new applicant will be matched up with someone to help them get into the swing of being Grim. In order to coordinate this, we will need to have a fair approximation of your play schedule. Please give a general outline below, OR if you wish to keep it private, send a PM to Qarosimae.
((I live in Europe. Why am I on a US server? Because before living in Europe I lived in Australia, my homeland. As such, the hours match up funny. That said, I work from home, and have a fairly flexible schedule for when I can play. To put it simply I am available most days, most of the time- WoW has become my official recreational activity)).

(OOC) Please provide an armory link to your character for verification.
((My character isn't in the armory :\ Or I am a noob and don't know where to look))

(IC/OOC) Do you have anything further to add?
((Peace through Annhilation))

No doubt a flickering weakness of my own spirit, as I return to full mindedness from wretchedness. I consulted a spirit shaman at crossroads, and after a breif ritual involving the blood of a Zhevra and a foul tasting tonic, he declared me healed and the spirits once again recognise me.
