I've taken several breaks from the game and one of them was for identical reasons you listed. What happens to me personally every time is what was mentioned above: You will get bored and a commercial or friend will get you interested in an expansion you thought you didn't care about...

THEN BAM! 15$ and a Red Bull later you feel like you've gone on a crack binge that ended with a 15$ whore who wanted to rent your computer for a month... that or you just feel like you renewed your subscription... one of the two.
