Notice! Disturbance at the Dark Portal

Unread post by Awatu »

A large notice poster is stapled onto the wall near the entrance to the guild hall. It reads:
Soldiers of the Horde!

News from Dreadmaul Hold reports a magical anomaly surrounding the Dark Portal. The Horde is taking steps to secure the area, but all reinforcements are welcome in the event of another invasion from the Burning Legion. Preparations are being made to banish and subdue any rogue demons found in the area.

No news of an invasion has come from Thrallmar in Outland. The magical disturbances do not coincide with what is known of fel magic utilized by the Legion.

Use extreme caution when approaching the Portal.

For the Horde!
Awatu nodded as he pinned the notice to the wall. After his preparations, he would make a notice to scout the area near the Portal. If the Legion plans on making another attempt at an invasion, The Grim would be ready.

((Use this thread to post your character's responses to the invasion of the Iron Horde, either alongside Grim or by themselves. I'm going with the presumption that the Burning Legion is believed to be the culprits at the moment until the Iron Horde crosses the Portal.))

The troll warrior sniffed as he scrutinized the poster, a look of wariness dropping over his features like a mask. Never one to underestimate a threat, Leyu'jin stroked his chin as he considered the warning. Ah knew dark clouds would be comin', but ah dinna tink dey'd be so soon, the troll thought to himself. Once agin, we will hafta juggle two threats. Leyu'jin's eyes narrowed. Ah wuz hopin' we'd git a reprieve, sum time ta focus aginst da Alliance an' reduce der advantage aginst us. The warrior took another look at the notice, then quietly stalked out of the guild hall.

Lilliana idly wandered down a corridor of the Guild Hall, her feet leading her to the entrance of their simple halls. She didn't have anything planned, and was lost in her own musings this day. She had only recently returned to her fellow Grim from a 'vacation' she decided to take for herself, and didn't have much to do yet. She stopped her lazy wanderings when she caught sight of Leyujin. He was scrutinizing one of those never ending notices the Grim likes to put up and then left the hall. She didn't say anything, as Leyujin's demeanor seemed rather 'grim' to her. Perhaps Lilliana had read the words Leyujin had thought while he considered the announcement on the wall and now she felt rude. Either way she didn't greet him. When she stepped up to read Awatu's notice she shrugged, somewhat akin to a teenager's 'whatever'. Her own demeanor now appeared to be one of disinterest, but of course she headed out, just behind Leyujin. Her plan now was to go straight to the Dark Portal and see what she could see.

Ruuki had spotted the notice in passing, and as she paused to read it she frowned. Given that the Dark Portal was so near Alliance territory, her first assumption was their pathetic magics trying to use the portal for some reason. Leave it to the irritable Dwarves and pesky Gnomes to tamper with things that should be well left alone. Still, if this was the Burning Legion from the other side of the portal...

She shook her head, turning to head to room to gather her gear. A visit to the forge was in order to make sure she was ready for anything that came though, or went boom.

After the expedition into occupied Blackrock Spire, Dreadweaver Bloodstar, with Commander Stonespire and the High Inquisitor, took the fight to the Dark Portal itself. The trio beat back the tide of Iron Horde legionnaires all the way to the very steps of the crimson gate.

Affronted by the invasion's breach of Horde territory, Khorvis chose to mark his own.

Unfortunately, this only served to ignite the fury of the Iron Horde, and reinforcements continued to pour through the Dark Portal. The Grim beat a tactical retreat into the Swamp of Sorrows and Stonard, and Khorvis set to work in the forges to gain smithing knowledge of this new threat's weaponry.
