The importance of the discontinued.

(( Explaination will be at the end of this post ))
The old paladin stood in the bank of Orgrimmar. She'd had enough. Too long she had been posted to the Outlands. Too good a job she guessed because she never got posted elsewhere. The final insult came when the horde didn't even send replacements. The outlands wasn't important anymore. There was no retirement party, no farewell.
She simply packed her things and left. Now standing in the bank, she was cleaning it out. She tossed all kinds of things of little important. She did keep the Lament of Sylvanas, the book where the words were translated when she sang.
In the last bag though was only one item. She stopped and held it up to the light. The goblin behind the counter said, "oooh, that's a Scourgebane! You can't get those anymore."
"What do you mean?", asked the Paladin.
"Well, ever since old Deathwing got out, he ripped this rock a new one. Times have changed, you can't get it anymore. What you got there is rare. How much ya want for it?"
The paladin, ignoring the goblin, stood there and stared at it. Can't get them anymore? She spent weeks in the depths of Black Rock trying to get this trinket. Her old feelings of honor rose up and she decided she had to give it to someone worthy. Leaving her bank empty, she turns and leaves. Maybe she did have one quest left.
Days passed. She wandered the streets of Orgrimmar seeking someone worthy of her efforts. One day though, she was passing near the Orphange and noticed the kids today ran outside and gathered around a young paladin who was handing the Matron a bunch of flowers.
Time seemed to slow and edges of her vision got dim. The busyness of the world seemed to continue on. The Scourgebane glowed in her hand. She walked forward and he turned toward like he was the only one to see her there. She took his hand and placed the Scourgebane in his hand.
There was a flash of light and Aelathavel blinked. Suddenedly he noticed a Knight's Tabard suddenly apprear in the air in the direction he looked. He didn't even know why he looked in that direction anyway. It was like the light asked him to. There was no one there. The tabard feel to the ground. He then noticed the strange rock in his hand. He bent down and picked up the tabard. It was old, but still in good shape.
Matron Battlewail asked, "You ok kid? You look like you saw something."
Pocketing the rock and putting the tabard into his pack, he thought, I'll figure out what these are later. "No, Matron, I am well. It is good to visit and see my friends."
With that, he wandered into the orphange and handed out gifts for the orphans.
(( Basically, I was about to delete my old paladin, when I came across this old trinket that is discontinued but still soulbound, I spent the money and transformed the old paladin into the new one I was playing. Hence the hugh level difference. ))
