Trial of Resolve - Fourth Interview
< 3rd Interview - Resolve Summary -
Syreena the Shadowblade((I have sat down with a handful of Grim members and learned about them, about their past, and gotten to know them.
I will now recant what I have learned about each individual, in my own words, sharing with you a little about their past before they where Grim, and who they are now, as Grim, and what the Mandate means to them, and what I have learned from them about the Mandate myself.))
Undead Female Rogue
I wanted to meet with Syreena someplace that she would feel more at ease and comfortable, so we decided on the Inn in the Forsaken town of Brill. The rogue was shaded over in a dark corner of the Inn, I waved approaching the table and sat down across from her. We shared some small talk, ordered a few drinks and some food and then I explained that I wanted to know her Grim story.
She agreed and began her tale.
Human Past-
While Syreena and Anaie might be blood sisters, they never really met each other until adult hood. Syreena could only just barely remember Anaie leaving their household, when Syreena was too young to even tell how old she may have been. Anaie was lucky enough to not have their real father in her life very long, Syreena was not as lucky.
Syreena's biological father was a drunken gambler, with monetary debts all over town. Who eventually ended up selling Syreena into indentured servitude to an old Alchemist in an attempt to pay for his life one night.
Her father was never heard from again after this, as you can assume, the Alchemist wasn't a great person either, being someone of quality who would accept payment in the form of a child. Syreena was forced to steal for her new mentor, as well as fight, cheat, lie, clean, and more as his new apprentice slave.
One night, when Syreena was around sixteen, her Mentor, Aleister the Alchemist, ordered her to a small farm house in town to retrieve a mans gold debt by force. As she slunk around the house looking for valuables, she woke the mans young farm daughter from her sleep. Syreena panicked as the girl screamed from fright, and lunged her dagger into the child's rib cage, she slid from Syreena's now bloody arms onto the floor with a thud.
But it was too late, the girl's scream had already woken up the household, the girl's father tackled Syreena to the floor and held her until the town guard arrived. Syreena rotted in jail for a few weeks after this before her Mentor Aleister came to visit.
He said how he was sorry about what had happened, and promised to get her out of the cell, he handed her some water and bread and left before lingering to long with the murderous girl. Syreena dug into the new supplies, but noticed the bread tasted funny as she inspected it closer, the bastard had poisoned her.
In Undeath-
The poisoned bread was also carrying the plague, which was not all that uncommon at this point around human settlements. But due to this, Syreena was able to walk Azeroth again as a Forsaken.
There isn't much to Syreena as a freelancer, she found the Grim quickly. As she was wandering around the land as a freelance rogue and spy, she met a band of warriors who needed a good rogue, and she lent her blades, after the long, heated battle she stuck with the warriors, the warriors where the Grim, and accepted Syreena among them happily.
As Grim-
As a champion of the Grim, Syreena focuses on destroying external threats to the Grim and the world, but will still step in as often as needed to help vanquish Alliance foes as well.
Syreena rose through the ranks of the Grim quickly and was put in charge of Rogue recruitment after a short time. As she was interviewing candidates in a tavern one night, a slim hooded figure sat down at her table unannounced. The figure slowly removed her hood after Syreena demanded she reveal herself. It was as if someone had placed a mirror in the chair across her. Syreena's older sister Anaie looked her directly in the face, neither blinked as they where taken over with a feeling of unbelievable excitement and glee, Anaie had heard of the Grim and their rogue recruiter, the two where reunited and became a deadly duo in the Grim ranks together.
The Grim helped Syreena find and track down her old Mentor, Aleister the Alchemist, the now old decaying man was in Shathraath City, she followed him for a while, he may have been older and weaker now, but she was still mean, cruel, just a scum of humanity, he also had a new prized possession, a apprentice, a young troll girl.
She trapped him in his house in the City, tortured him for days, made him regret his entire life, before finally killing his apprentice in front of him and then leaving him to live with the memory, and the fright that Syreena could be around any corner for his last few remaining years.
Syreena bears the Grim title of the Shadowblade, this title was earned through the effective execution, and practice, of sneaking through the shadows and striking down foes with her blades without ever being seen to the level of being an art-form.
Syreena is also proud of when she was the Grim's Rogue Master, and was in charge of all Grim Rogue training, recruitment, and expertise.
--
I threw a handful of gold on the table to pay for the evening's meal and drinks as I got up and said my goodbyes. I thanked Syreena for her time, and remembered thinking to myself how glad I was that Syreena was on my side as I left the Inn.
I learned from Syreena that the Mandate must be served, and that resilience in all of life's challenges cannot change the dedication and intensity needed to fully serve the Mandate.
