Trial of Combat - Defense of the Ancients

The air smelled of sea salt and black powder. Ships flying Alliance colors made their approach to the shore. A dusty, gray-furred Pandaren with an eyepatch stood on the beach; one of the many Horde forces joined together for this battle. He let the waves wash over his thick, furry feet. Welcoming the cold of the water, as it kept him alert.

Chomping on a stick of salmon jerky, he took inventory of the Horde soldiers around him. Five in total. There were more further down the beach. All of them strangers, except the effective hunter Exior, with his stalwart rhino. Since joining the Horde, he and Exior, a fellow Pandaren, had fought many a battle together. In fact, they both wore the insignia of The Grim.

"Hurry, Bumpkin!" Exior bellowed in his direction. "Swallow that snack before these Alliance fools make you choke on it!"

Unoffended by the less than complimentary moniker, the Pandaren also answered to Kabocho, as it was his name. Speaking with a mouth full of jerky, Kabocho replied, "What you lack in manners, you more than make up for in skill." Indifferent to a response, Kabocho walked ahead, surveying the water.

The ships were closing in on the shore. He quickly rolled underneath the dock. Quietly focusing his thoughts, he summoned a Jade Serpent statue. This placement would hide it from Alliance eyes, but keep it close enough to heal the nearby Horde. Hearing the thud of a ship docking, he rolled back out from under the dock so that he was in range of the five Horde members. He cast a blessing on everyone to aid in the coming fight.

Just as soon as his blessing was cast, a shot rang out as the first wave of Alliance exited the boat. A demolisher rolled across the dock, headed toward the protective walls further up the shore. Determined to hold the beach, Kabocho let fly a burst of chi. The sound of fireworks erupted as the momentum of the chi moved rapidly between Horde and Alliance, healing and damaging both in accordance. Kabocho rolled to the base of the demolisher, sweeping his leg around to slow down the vehicle's advance. All the while, he cast healing spells in the direction of his fellow Horde members who were most in need of help.

Kabocho was a Pandaren possessed. He gulped mana tea, whenever a spare second was available, and cast preventative healing spells as quickly as he could. He looked deep into the soul of each Alliance soldier that crossed his path, and saw waste and arrogance. It was clear they were not worthy to sit at a table and break bread with him. These observations made him even more intent on dropping all the Alliance, while simultaneously keeping his Horde brethren in fighting order.

The battle seemed to wage on for hours. Smoke and sand blew across the beach. The sounds of battle reached a climax and soon dissipated. Kabocho rubbed his good eye clear of the smoke, and saw a beach full of dead Alliance, with not a single wall penetrated. They had done it. In the span of just a few minutes, the Horde forces had eliminated all of the Alliance before they even had a chance to attack the fortifications. It would do him well to relay the news of this victory to The Grim. Satisfied with the skirmish, Kabocho rubbed his ever-empty stomach and made his way back to the ocean.

"It's over, Bumpkin. What are you doing?" Exior barked at him.

Kabocho waved a dismissive paw at the hunter, as he shouted, "Catching my dinner." He had already spied a gigantic sagefish skimming the surface, and he aimed to make it a memory.
