You walk into the main guild hall.

Unread post by Ashenfury »

The hall is empty. Someone was here recently because Ashenfury's smoldering pipe lay on it's side on a table. Next to the table was his usual simple wooden chair near the large hearth. There was ink all over the table from him trying to keep up with inquisition paperwork but no Orc is neat or clean and Ashenfury was no exception.

A large white wolf sauntered into the hall from another doorway and glanced at you uncaring as he went and plopped down by the empty chair. Outside a howl could be heard in the distance long and drawn out. Once it had ended a snap of light filled the hearth and placed your shadow against the wall while a boom of thunder startles you. The wolf with both eyes closed twitches an ear.

On the table are several stacks of inquisitor papers hurriedly pushed aside. In the middle was a map with several locations circled hastily and a list of names. It seems somebody was doing investigations. To the right of the map was a large book titled History of The Grim that was cracked wide open with similar ink smears all over it. The page that it was opened to was clearly ripped out but in front and behind were battle plans from the past with other guilds.

A second wolf runs in happily with a mouth full of feathers and sits on it's haunches beside the table. It looks at you and opens its jaw to drop a black and gnawed upon raven.

Deminthus walks in to Ashenfury's study only to see a smoldering pipe sitting next to the Orc's usual resting spot. "No need to let a little good herb go to waste" Deminthus chuckles to himself as he puffs on the remaining herb.

As the Paladin looks around for clues as to where his long-time friend had gone he noticed a book on his desk that appeared to have been written to recently. "What is this silly Shaman up to researching Grim's history of battle? These maps are obviously strategic locations only sought during a war." The level of detail proved this was not just thrown together, Ashenfury was up to something. Whatever that something was, this Paladin was determined to find out.

As Deminthus walked out of Ashenfury's study he glanced to the one of the Shaman's wolves and noticed a black raven lying by its mouth. "Hmm, that raven doesn't look wild at all," he muttered quietly.

Leyu'jin sits quietly in the battle room in one of the chambers off the main hall. A sheaf of parchments lays to one side, and an intricately carved stone stylus, with symbols of the Troll Loa Papa Legba and Ayida Wedo winding down each side to the other. He twirls the stylus, then taps it on the table where a large detailed map of Azeroth lays sprawled. Letting out a gruff sigh, the troll takes a parchment and dips the stylus, beginning to write. At various points he starts on a new piece of parchment, or makes a mark and a scrawled note on the map itself. His head is down as he concentrates on his writing and the map.

Mortinella walks into the guild hall and starts perusing the bookshelf for books relating to the shadow. She notices another member of the Grim deeply focused at a table across from her and contemplates taking a seat at a nearby chair.

Before the warlock sat down, she spotted a book entitled "Shadow and Deception" that immediately caught her attention. The book was precariously placed on the topmost shelf that not even her large-stretched arms could reach.

She grabbed the chair she intended on using for sitting and slid it closer to the bookshelf, hoping to not disturb the others in the hall. She stepped up on the chair to reach the book and after successfully grabbing the overlay of the book, suddenly, before her bewildered eyes stood a wolf seemingly hungry. Her legs wobbled weakly on the chair nearly tipping it over.

"Somebody help!" she screamed not knowing who the wolf was or what it was doing in the guild hall.

The wolf by the empty chair near the fire opens one eye and watches the scene unfold. The other wolf sits and watches Mortinella with amusement and black feathers still hanging from his mouth. As Mortinella falls the feral pack instinct kicks in and the wolf gives her a big sloppy lick with his long tongue to make sure she is okay and sits back down by the gnawed raven.

Mortinella, relieved that the wolf was tame proceeded to glare angrily at the wolf "Who do you belong to?" she questioned, her voice reverberating across the hall. "You better be glad I didn't put any spell on you!" she continued, as she pushed away the slobbery tongue.

She had contemplated using a spell on the wolf to put him to sleep but did not think it would work. She had only tried it on a demon once before and although the wolf looked quite demonic to her while hanging from the bookshelf with its seemingly grimacing eyes staring at her rotten, hanging, fleshy skin, she was sure he was nothing more than a beast of Azeroth. She thought she had read in her training manual that the spell only worked on demons and elementals, but nevermind that, her mind instantly focused back on the book she pulled from the shelf.

"Chapter 1: The Corruption of Shadow, How Deadly is it?", she read as she flipped open the book. Chuckling to herself, she gently patted her robe that still carried leftover skulls of members she had used the power of the shadow on corrupting them so much so that after taking their heads as trophies, they shrunk to fit in the palm of her hand. "Perhaps we shall ask them?", she burst into laughter as she remembered the look on her enemy's faces when they realized her spell was slowly turning their bodies into death.

Mortinella decided the book was of sufficient interest to captivate her attention for a bit. She settled down near a fire and continued reading drowning out everything else around her.

Ashenfury storms into the hall garbed in traditional Orcish war gear covered by the heavy cloak and fur of travelers. He quickly walks straight to his chair leaving a trail of slosh in his wake he nears the table and leans over the map. A clump of snow falls from his shoulder without him noticing and falls on the wolf's snout. The wolf shakes his head and wrinkles his nose at Ashenfury.

Ashenfury finally leans down and picks up the sad looking and thoroughly gnarled black Raven. He holds the raven in his hand for a moment before looking up and noticing the numerous other members in the guild hall looking at him. He looks back to the raven and then slowly turns his attention to the Word Bearer.
