Inquisitor Ashenfury - Task One (Completed)

Unread post by Mortinella »

Inquisitor Ashenfury,

My humble apologies for it taking so long for me to get back with you as per your request, and I only hope that it is not to late to have you receive these goods in order to tailor a tabard.

My journey started with gathering five deviant scales of the highest quality, they could be not be just any scale. I ventured to the Crossroads in the Northern Barrens and headed towards the Wailing Caverns.

I found the cave meeting stone so I knew I was close.

You see, this was the first time I had traveled there directly so I wasn't sure exactly where it was. Instead, I had been teleported directly multiple times, perhaps even by another warlock. Who knows...

Anyways, upon entering the cave, I was greeted by all kinds of creatures that I gladly took pride in hunting down before ripping them apart hoping to find a perfect deviant scale. I fought raptors, wind serpents, and even oozes. The oozes were a pain because they resisted much of my magic.
Image

I was elated when I obtained first perfect deviant scale after only a few short kills.
Image

As I ventured deeper into the caverns, I was met by druids who warned me of the dangerous creatures that followed.
Image

I was not afraid, for I inflict fear. I am a warlock after all. These beasts stood no chance with me, for I am the master of destruction.
Image

I did not have to go deep into the back of the cave before I received all five deviant scales of perfection. In fact, I contacted you through my hearthstone, and you were surprised at the speed with which I was able to complete this part of my task. I assure you, I was careful while killing the creatures so that their scales could be preserved.
Image

In fact, I was so enthralled with this mission, that in an attempt to annihilate the entire area, I found myself having to quickly channel my emergency healing spells to my voidwalker.
Image

It's not that I cared that my voidwalker lived or not, it's more that I did not want those creatures attacking me! After all, I am dressed in mostly cloth except for a couple of rings I wear, and my voidwalker is heavily armored. I would much prefer he take a hit than me!

So, after I got the scales, I headed back to Orgrimmar to seek out a goblin named Kyfur. I found him in an inn near the northeastern part of Orgrimmar, which is where he said he would most likely be in his letter.
Image

He was quite a fellow I must admit, and reminded me of someone I once knew. He asked me if this fellow was good looking, I'm not sure what that had to do with anything, but nonetheless, he certainly had quite a personality.

Kyfur agreed to help me out with the five bolts of netherweave cloth in exchange for 40 rough stone. I had no idea how on Azeroth I was to get the stone! I am not skilled in mining and do not know anyone who is.

I asked around and someone suggested to try Mulgore and seek out the elemental creatures made of rocks. So I flew to Bloodhoof Village.
Image

Looking at the map, I was able to pinpoint a digsite nearby.
Image

I was ready to use the power of the twisting nethers and cast magic spells on all of the rock elementals in sight.
Image

After clearing out the camp, I did not find a single rough stone out of any of them.
Image

I suspect that it was because they were made out of stone that was smooth and did not have rough edges, as far as I could tell. I suppose I should have noticed this prior to massacring them.

Dissatisfied, I headed back to Bloodhoof Village and asked whoever I saw if he or she was skilled in mining. I knew that a miner could easily quarry the stone that Kyfur needed, but no one cared to help. Sadly, due to time, I was unable to learn another profession at such short notice. Plus, I don't think my bones would be able to handle carrying a mining pick along with my staff.

After nearly giving up, I flew to the Crossroads again and found no help there either. Then I went flew to Ratchet, and still no one. I decided to do a bit of exploring and found a path separating the Northern Barrens from Durotar and rode my horse quickly to Razor Hill. I passed a lot of mines along the way that I could do nothing about, and this frustrated me even more.

Finally, I arrived outside the gates of Orgrimmar and saw a lot of folk practicing their battle skills. One troll shaman, off to the side, seemingly appeared to be lost in thought or just resting from a long journey. I decided to take a chance and asked him if he happened to be a miner. To my joy and surprise, he was! However, he said he barely had any practice mining and did not know how much use he would be. When I explained my situation, and how I needed 40 rough stone, he decided to gather up the stone for me while I waited. I suppose I was his motivation for getting practice with mining, since I imagine it's quite boring and time consuming.
Image

So I waited for the shaman to return outside Orgrimmar.

It took him no time at all because he had bought himself a motorcycle, which I liked very much! I hope one day to obtain one for myself.

Anyways, so he gave me all the stone and in exchange for his services, I handed him gold. He had no idea I was going to do that, but it's only fair for taking up so much of his time.

It wasn't until after the fact, that I was told that rough stone wasn't worth nearly as much as I gave the guy, but meh, I don't care. I'm not rolling in the dough, but I make do with what I have by selling several skins and medicinal herbs at the market.

Kyfur was not at the usual spot in the inn so I decided to speak with the postmaster about how to mail all the stone. He suggested a heavy parcel package and after paying my fee, I noticed the stones were left on the table and not put in the box! I'm glad I noticed this because I really didn't want Kyfur to get an empty package! How embarrassing! Anyways, after being forced to pay the fee again, I stood and watched as the postman wrapped the stone carefully in the package.

Unfortunately, several days of important business has kept me away from civilization. After checking my mail, I was elated to find a package from Kyfur. He not only gave me the five bolts of netherweave cloth that you require, but he also gave me a bag made of netherweave! How kind of him, I will definitely be doing business with him in the future.
Image

So as it stands, I am currently only needing a vial of red dye. I will obtain this within the next few days. I hope that's alright. I will keep you informed.

I trust you are in agreement with my progression so far.

Peace through annihilation,

Inquisitor Ashenfury,

As I was traveling around today, I happened to come across other members of the Grim in Ratchet who informed me that I could find a vial of red dye from a person who sells thread, such as a tailoring trainer.

I apologize for this oversight on my part, because in retrospect, I should have known that! So in essence, the task of getting the red dye would not take days as previously thought.

I paid for a flight back to Orgrimmar and stopped by my skinning trainer to sharpen my knife when I noticed an Orc selling things nearby. Enthused that he had the vial of red dye, I purchased a bottle of it.

Anyways, I have mailed you all of the required items for my first task

I certainly hope you are pleased Inquisitor.

Peace through annihilation,

((This is my first time ever doing anything like this so I hope it's ok. Several days after I originally posted this, I noticed that for some reason the pictures weren't appearing. I'm not sure why not but I've redone them all. Hopefully they stay put! Like I said, this is my first time doing this.))

Well done, Supplicant. I see that Kyfur was a tough negotiator. Seek me out and we will imbue your tabard. Until then, hunt well.
