Somewhere in Elwynn Forest: Twenty Years Ago
It was one dark and stormy night out in Elwynn Forest, the rain flowed down like water from a shattered dam levy, turning sod to marsh and earth to mud, the rumble of thunder crashed through the forest, masking all sounds, even the far off cries for mercy. Far off to the West in an old, crumbling cottage, a young mother is beaten about by her enraged lover. His callused hands swarmed over her soft pale flesh, now bearing patches of black and blue and red, tears streamed down the length of her face like small rivers as he continued striking her over and over, a reason he need not. Whilst the beating continued, the couples nine year old boy bore witness to the violence, conceled in a dark corner of the next room, knowing that after the old man was done with her, he'd be the next vent of anger. "Please stop," the woman begged her tormentor, "I've done nothing to you, let me go! Please!" Beg and plead as she might, the savage brute only answered with a fist here, a kick there, cuts here and there, tuning out her pleas for mercy. After one last solid backhand to her face, the man dropped her to the ground, and turned his blood-shot eyes over to the boy. "Nooo...please...not the boy," the woman begged, attempting to grab him by the leg and realing from the savage pain. The older man kicked her hand off him and coldly marched towards his son, intending to vent his rage on him now, but the boy only smiled at him. The boy had smiled a smile of wicked intent, one of evil, the boy tightly clutched a butcher's knife behind his back, just waiting for the old fool to get close enough. "Now it's your turn, boy," the old man said smiling, "You're gonna pay just like that whore over there did." as the old man drew closer, the boy readied the knife, clutching the wooden handle very tight. When the old man's face met his, the boy quickly sprung out the knife and hit the old man in the neck, slicing up his juggular vein. The old man drew back and attempted to stop the bleeding, but the boy wouldn't have it, the little boy then slashed the old man's stomach again and again as the old fool bled, making him suffer a painful death. The old man then dropped dead, his blood ran out of his body and pooled on the floor around him and the little boy kept stabbing the corpse for about a minute, then stepped back and turned his attention to his mother. Poor thing, she was hurt physically and mentally, the little boy knew she couldn't recover from something like this, so he walked up to her and quickly stabbed her in the heart, ending her suffering and letting her die in peace. The boy then walked out into the night, and vanished, smiling as he did.
Nine Years Later: Lakeshire
Inspector Felix Masters was standing on the north most bank of Lake Everstill, surveying a gruesome scene, two bodies that were horrifically mutilated were found dumped on the tan sandy shore of the Lake. The bodies were in terrible condition; the skin from their arms and chest was removed completely, showing only the red, blodied muscle, there were stab marks on their backs, which hit the stomach area, and both of the vitims lips were completely removed, forming horrific smile- like grins. Masters knew right then and there that this was the same person, the same person who for nine years has ruthlessly murdered thirty-one people, all bearing the same grins, this was the work of "The Devil of Redridge." Masters continued to survey the scene, looking for anything that could lead him to the killer, when he managed to stumble across a potenital clue. Underneath a small area of sand, he uncovered a large hunting knife, he immediatly knew that the killer wanted to bury the edvidence. "Technician," Masters yelled, "found something." A Gnomish technician ran right over and took the knife from him and scanned it for fingerprints, and then ran them through his little Print-Identifier and after a minute, he got a match...the fingerprints belonged to their resident Priest, known as Renn Lainne. Masters smiled and whispered to himself, "We've got you, you son of a bitch."
About a Month Later: Lakeshire Town Hall
Seven Cheif Justices lined the main table in the foyer of Town Hall, their figures casting looming shadows over those they judged, and today would be no different. Four of the city's marched through the hall, dragging Renn into the room with them, then literally threw him at the feet of the Justices. the looming figures looked down upon Renn, seeing his burised and battered form, and having no pity for him. Renn looked up to see his Judges, these dark and shadowed figures who would no doubt have him hanged right then and there without a second thought, so was their "just" rulings of the past. Almost in complete unicine, the Judges spoke, "Does the condemed have any final words before his sentence is carried out?" Renn stood before the Justices, smiling his wicked smile, while surreptitiously slipping out both his blade and out of his cuffs, he took one look at the seven shadows and said, "Just one..." he paused for a breif moment, until the tumblers in his cuffs clicked open, then slipping out his throwing blade, he said, "Die." Without hesitation, he threw his knife at one of the guards, who was hit in his throat and went down easy. The second guard quickly drew his blade and charged Renn, intending to kill him on the spot. However, Renn proved faster as he dodged the guard, grabbed his sword arm, snapped it, took the sword from the guard's hand, then brought it down upon his neck, getting sprayed with a geyser of warm blood. After both guards were slain, Renn turned his attention to the seven Justices, who were crowded in a corner. As Renn walked up to them, sword in hand, he couldn't help but smile, even when all the Justices were butchered like cattle. After the deed was done, Renn cleaned himself up and walked out of the hall and down the road. As he walked down the road, a lonley traveler on horse back spotted him, rushed up to him, and asked, "Hey buddy, need a ride?" Renn could only look at him and smile.
