Loitering ((Open for...whatever!))

Unread post by Malkaris »

Malkaris wasn't really sure what he had gotten himself into. The stakes were high and the tension was beyond anything he had ever felt before. Sweat, if it could be called that, slowly crawled down his cheek as he was witness to a scene most horrific...

Snake Eyes.

He stared at the dice, horrified at the turn his luck had taken. The little gnome he had met traveling about the lower portion of Ramkahen had beaten him... again! And what's worse, his partner in crime, a Goblin by the name, "Doomwrench", an unlikely Death Knight, was howling with laughter. The Gnome had taken all of his gold!

"You... I call Fel magery!", Malkaris said, his voice amused but at the same time filled with surprise and frustration.

"Hee hee! Old you may be, but that doesn't mean you know everything, Malky!" The gnome chided, wagging his fat finger at Malkaris as he gave a large smile of triumph.

Malkaris sighed. This did not bode well for the fallen Highborne. His coin purse was empty!

Hearing the outburst from Malkaris as she walked thru the shaded open market of Ramkahen she narrowed her green eyes irritably. Freya was getting used to this off the cuff and perhaps meaningless afront, especially from the undead of the Grim, but it none the less stung. 'Fel magery indeed ...' she murmured under her breath venomously as her feet kept moving along the sand swept street while her eyes lingered on the gamers. Idly she wondered if the dice had been fashioned from the undeads own bones and then shook her head to clear the errant thought even if it were not unlikely of the morbidly gruesome Forsaken. Maybe it had been her focus on the dice that caused her keen blood elf eyes to notice something unusual because the Gnome seemed to sweep the dice away and pocket them while setting another set of dice nearby ready for him to roll. Never being one to be included in games she was unsure if this was part of the whole ritual or not but the malicious glint in the little mans eye seemed to reinforce the duplicity in the maneuver and this caused her slippered feet to pause to allow her to watch and see what would occur now that the undead was penniless.

Malkaris' left ear twitched a bit, his right hand stroking his chin as thoughts of how to salvage this uniquely dire situation rolled about his mind. He wasn't quite sure how to proceed exactly and any attempts to garner help from his little friend, Doomwrench proved... well...

FLASHBACK

The memory is devoid of color, Malkaris is well toned and muscled, much like he was before the curse of undeath was brought upon him. His hair fluttered in the wind with ethereal grace as he looked down upon the miniscule little insect, the gnome, eyes filled with fear induced tears!

"Doomwrench! Tell me. Has this insignificant little worm been cheating me out of my ill-earned coin?" Malkaris' voice boomed with fel-energy and rage, as if all of the secrets of the Highborne were swirling about a vortex of immortal power in his bosom.

"Doomwrench? Answer..."

"WEEEEEEEE HAHAHAHA!" Doomwrench it seems, had not been listening. In his hand he held a runed wrench (for which he was named) that was adorned with metal protrusions and unnecessarily sharp bladed points, and with that instrument of terror, was chasing a rather colorful tiny Scorpid about with unnerving childish glee!

"me....useless!"

FLASHBACK ENDS (only the goblin bit was not exaggerated in his mind!)

Back to reality... The Goblin was still running about. And he had to make a decision!

"SO what's it going to be, Malky? You don't have any more coin to lose..." The little gnome steepled his fingers in triumph.

Malkaris always knew his vices would get the best of him as the years went on and the list of things to do shortened. BUT! He still had something to wager to get all of his coin back.

Raising a brow, he pulled out a rather old looking little trinket that to any trained eye would be what it appeared to be should it ever... appear, and thus the gnome's eyes grew wide as he oogled the ancient though perfectly preserved highborne artifact.

"I think it cleans one's teeth or something, I don't quite remember, but this one is particularly dear to me." Malkaris rolled his old Elune stone about, intricately carved Highborne symbols of his now defunct house and of the capital city covered every inch of it. At first the gnome was dubious, until Malkaris brought the stone to the darkness of his hood where he glowed with an eerie blue light.

"Not smart Malky! But i'll take it! Something like that may be worth a fortune! and..uh...apparently i'm not the only one that...thinks so?" The gnome's eyes narrowed with confusion.

Malkaris looked to the side somewhat. Doomwrench was gnawing on the stone, his tongue sagging to the side. The stone was not damaged or scratched but...what an odd sight!

The Gnome began first, throwing the dice it gnomish passion....
