Finding a Purpose

((Told from Dareus' point of view))
For a long time I was just a wandering ghost. My past had been taken from me when those thugs so ruthlessly killed my parents during their robbery. I scouted the world trying to find what really drove me. I became very fluent in my own magics. Giving up hope in finding adventure, I returned to my roots. I walked throughout Silvermoon, finding that damn old building. I finally found it in the Royal Exchange district. My family used to occupy it. It was where we made a living off of my parents' tailoring. A new tailoring family owned it now, but they've always been friends of ours.
I stood there for what felt like hours, reminiscing about what life used to be. I was listening to several small birds sing and the casual conversations buzzing around me. In a flash everything became silent, the calm before the storm if you will. A woman's shriek was heard and battle cries echoed through the city. The visitors and citizens of Silvermoon quickly ran into their homes to avoid the terror, but I couldn't move. I stood there shocked to see what lay ahead.
Six human knights charged through the Royal District, mowing down anyone who came in their path. I looked behind them to see their path of destruction: I saw more than a half-dozen innocents lying dead in the street, along with several guards. Reality snapped back to me and I saw the riders approaching. I began to weave my hands, knowing that I'd only be able to take out one knight before the others got me. As they were within meters of me, a wave of fire hit them from their sides and they were pushed from me. A troll magus was seen weaving his hands. A forsaken rogue leaped from the roof of the buildings above and landed in the group of knights, taking three out within seconds of weilding her daggers. Finally, a tauren death knight came and cut the remaining knights down. I heard the bull state "Peace through annihilation" before spitting on the corpses. They then left the scene before the rest of the city could find out what happened, and as they left, I could tell they were all wearing the same tabard.
'Peace through annihilation...' I thought as I approached the bodies. It was a good motto to live by. I turned one of the knights over on his back, seeing the crest of a lion on his breast. "So, Stormwind huh?" I said quietly. I then dropped the knight and proceeded to leave the city. Once clear, I wove my hands together once more, summoning myself about a mile away from the gates of stormwind in a shadowy flash. I pulled my hood over my eyes and began my walk to the gates.
Once there, it was more than easy to walk by the gate's guards with my less-than-amazing disguise. I believe I was in the trade district when it started: I saw a tailor's shop. I was instantly reminded of my parents' death and wanted to bring the same sorrow to some stranger that was given to me by another group of strangers. I walked into the shop, closing the door behind me. The human eagerly greeted me "Hello sir! How can I hel--" but that was far as he got. My hidden dagger was now exposed and thrust into his chest. He groaned and I pulled out the bloody blade, quickly cutting his throat before he could scream. He fell behind the counter and I sheathed the blade and walked back out into the trade district.
I had a rush of adrenaline as I began the massacre. My hands were shaking. Quickly I regained my focus and stilled myself. As I heard a guard yell, more guards ran to the yelling one. I knew they were investigating the dead tailor. I took a deep breath and hastily summoned my void walker. I sent the aberration towards the front of the city to distract any would-be heroes and guards, allowing me atleast a minute with Stormwind. As the demon left, I pulled back my hood with a wild grin on my face. I felt magic flowing ever so quickly to my finger tips, only to be launched at a clueless male bystander. He fell instantly and I proceeded to the next. Shadowy bolt after bolt I launched unto my victims, taking atleast half a dozen before I ran into the nearest building for protection. I looked around the building bunk beds, young orphans staring at me, and an elderly woman begging me to leave.
At that moment, I didn't know what to do. They were so innocent, having not yet wronged me in any way. The woman began to shove me out. At her first push, I fell into a trance. I took out the hidden dagger from my robes once more and thrusted the blade into her stomach. Her cries fell short as death embraced her. She moved back from my dagger before falling to the ground. I stepped back, aghast at the atrocity I had just committed. At that moment, I remembered that Tauren's words... 'Peace through annihilation.' I looked at the now screaming children with a wicked grin. I raised both hands and sent flames scourging through the orphanage until the only thing that could be heard was the crackling of burning wood. With twenty or so now dead by my own hands, I summoned my felsteed and flew from the scene, only having to kick one guard out of my way before escaping the city entirely.
I knew my purpose now... To make my people safe again, whatever the cost might be.
