Trial of Combat Report - Elinel

TO: Khorvis and The Grim Inquisitors

FROM: Elinel Veilleux

SUBJECT: Trial of Combat Report

For my Trial of Combat my Inquisitor Mellinoe assigned me two tasks: my first task was to aspire to become more worldly and knowledgeable of Azeroth and its inhabitants, and my second task was to use non-violent measures to have various members of Dalaran University and the Kirin Tor expelled from the University and from the Kirin Tor.

The task of becoming more worldly is going to be a lifelong pursuit. I have begun to travel to various Horde outposts and hubs and inquire as to what I can do to help better the Horde’s agenda as well as establish a rapport with the various partners of the Horde. In addition to benefiting the Horde, this will also allow me to practice and uphold the Mandate.

The second part of my Trial of Combat has been completed as requested. In addition to the requirement, I’ve chosen to hunt these targets down and permanently eliminate them after the Kirin Tor’s attention on these individuals abated.

My mission began with Dallin Lafitte, a Highborn Kaldorei colleague of mine who is currently writing his dissertation on Advanced Illusory Theory. I overheard him muttering to himself about his calculations on the physics of channelling the power from artifacts to boost the duration of illusions. This intrigued me so I chose him as my first target. Not only will this remove the competition, I couldn’t allow him to publish his research. Power like this shouldn’t be offered to the Alliance.

In order to break into his room, I transformed into a mouse and squeezed under the door. While I was looking for his dissertation research I also came across his journal, which revealed that he has been sleeping with our Kaldorei Teleportation Engineering professor, Celeste Forestsong. For somebody who is supposed to be smart, he should have used code names. I gathered up his notes as well as a few strands of hair from his hairbrush and snuck back out of the room. I will need that hair to scry his location later.

It took a while to understand his notes, but once I did I put the next part of my plan into action. His journal stated that he meets with Professor Forestsong over lunch everyday, so using his hair I scryed his location to see if he was with her. Once they were finally together, and had engaged in a compromising union, I made my alibi known. While making my way to the artifact vault, I purposely tripped down the stairs of the Violet Keep and fell right into Aethas Sunstrider. I re-introduced myself and apologized profusely. He was very polite and told me that he remembered meeting me and helped me to my feet. This will surely be remembered.

Once I got to the artifact vault I copied the illusion of a Dalaran Dust Bunny (they are absolutely everywhere if you take the time to look) and blended right in with the others to sneak my way past the guards into the vault. The artifact I needed was the Focusing Iris. Dallin’s research calculated the power required to channel my spell through the Focusing Iris to empower the spell I cast. Using his hair and my scrying stone, I projected a real time image of him with Professor Forestsong, then channeling my portal spell through the Focusing Iris, I was able to project the image from my scrying stone right into the common area of Dalaran University over the busy lunch hour. Once enough time had passed, I broke my channel and focused my attention on the other task that required the Focusing Iris.

I removed the head I claimed from a Human Death Knight and used the Focusing Iris to overcharge my Illusion spell and transformed into the human. I quickly ported to Dalaran landing, then walked right into the Alliance base in Dalaran as the human and took the portal to Stormwind. My next target was Craig Pegsworth - a human and our class’s front runner for valedictorian.

Disguised as a Death Knight, I found him and repeated the instructions I was given when I was sent to The Maw. I produced my original summons and appropriately forged the change in name, convinced him that he was needed to assist in the search for Anduin and Jaina, and escorted him to Icecrown Citadel. Without the assistance like I had in The Maw, there is no way he will survive or escape. At this point, I felt like my illusion was beginning to fade so I was forced to push him into the portal instead of allowing him to walk through on his own.

My fourth target was an irritating little pink haired gnome named Laurel Manapuff. Laurel was a known Alliance sympathizer and has a very short temper with Horde raced individuals. I popped an illusion spell of Kyra Sunwing, blood elf colleague of ours, and began to spread a rumor that Laurel has been hiring somebody else to write her dissertation. As expected, once this got back to her she confronted Kyra and began to chew her out. Kyra obviously got defensive which provoked Laurel to attack Kyra in public. The University has a no-tolerance policy on violence against fellow students and Laurel was expelled.

Once the Kirin Tor’s attention on these individuals abated, I moved in to finish the job. I found and eliminated Laurel Manapuff in Arathi Basin, and found and eliminated Dallin Lafitte and Celeste Forestsong at the Temple of Kotmogu - all while upholding the Mandate.

As of the moment of writing this, I have yet to find Craig Pegsworth. I will continue my search for him in Torghast and The Maw. I do fear that he caught a glimpse of me while my illusion was fading before I pushed him into The Maw, so I must locate him quickly or there could be dire consequences.
