The Twin Monsters of the Broken Shore...

Unread post by Kyoukimaru »

~Some time ago, prior to the Legion invasion~

Kyoukimaru had just released the excess wellspring of energy he contained and created a near perfect form of life. The body, contructed by Oriy, was one thing, however his own life-fource, which Kyou constantly added to with each man he slaughtered and consumed, is what made this Mad Mountain a monster in kind..

Kyoukiyama, however, did not share the same personality as his creator. Be it free will, or the model of his orcish body, Kyoukiyama was much in person like any other orc. Brave, honorable, and absolutely stubborn. Instantly upon his creation, he began training. As if to make up for his lack of age, Kyoukiyama worked his body to match the strength of the elite he saw around him. Simultaeneously serving both The Grim and The Horde as a well known unit. He was a bastion of defense and fortitude, as well as a terrifyingly powerful whirlwind of steel... But many things changed when winds brought forth felfire... When the Legion invaded, thewe two lives, new, and old, shifted...

"Name?" Asked the recruited.
"Kyoukiyama" Yama replied.
"Strange one.... Well orc... Age?" the recruiter commented and asked.
"Two." Yama replied only to recieve a curious look from the undead before him.
"......Two... years?" the undead questioned.
"Negative. Two Months" Yama replied without any hesitation.

Kyoukiyama was putting himself through the works in an eager preparation for the upcoming battle... One Kyoukimaru, was regrettably sitting out. The goblin creature had committed suicide countless times, then created a life, and in the process shed nearly all of his excess Soul Energy. The recovery of rest was one side of it, but his magical prowess also needed to recharge before he could fight again.. He had refused to see anyone for multiple weeks after this, only allowing Oriy to visit and bring live food, usually a human child, sometimes a fel orc or three. It wasn't long before Yama found himself assisting Lady Sylvanas herself on the frontlines of the Broken Shore. Events that many heroes witnessed, crushing defeat and hopelessness. Loss and shame. Hatred, and betrayal.

But what many missed, was the misplacement of shadows, and the eminent horror brought about by letting monsters walk the earth...

"Milady, we are to flee this way! The heroes and wounded are nearly all onboard!"

"Hold them off, we must carry as many of these heroes with us!" Sylvanas ordered as she laid suppressing fire down range alongside a squad of forsaken archers! Demons were overwhelming them, and heroes left and right were flooding onboard ships. But at the foot of this hastily acquired defense, was none other than a 2 month old orc, fully grown, covered in blood. Yama had been wounded, as many were, in the gauntlet of battles before this point. his body, though unnaturally strong, was on the verge of collapse. The last line of defense was ready to crumple, which would signal the full retreat of The Horde's ships. With Sylvanas as the only leader left capable of command, her will was law.

Multiple meteors hit the ground, splitting ranks left and right, only to rise up and combine soon after! An enormous Infernal stood before the shore, bathed in felfire and began to press forward in a clumsy, slow manner.

"That one isn't like the others! We must retreat! Fall back! Now!" Sylvanas commanded as the squad fell back!

"We're shoving off! Grab hold now or be left behind!" Forsaken captains called to the troops and heroes now scrambling to board the preparing ships! Men and women stumbled and waded into the waters and scuttled aboard as the fel being slowly made it's way down the beach. However one orc, no more than 2 months old, no less green than a fresh recruit stood in its way. "Get to the ship! It won't catch up before we leave!" shouted one of the captains again, making a final call as anchors rose! But Yama held still. Shield up, Club at the ready.

Sylvanas herself whipped around as a voice called from within her shadow... only to see what force The Grim had wrought. Black ichor had leaked from her shadow and now covered one of the shipboard archers. the undead shambled with a longbow and a small javelin to the side of the ship and was now taking aim.

"What is the meaning of this, creature? Guardsmen!" Sylvanas called to arm a group of her royal guards, but she was met with a voice other than her archer's. A face took form upon the back of the archers head, made out of the black tar-like substance that now covered it.

"That one is a bomb. its radius will take everyone here out... That orc, my creation, knows this. Return the body this archer hooks to The Grim. It will be alive after this... As will I.." hissed Kyoukimaru's voice from the amalgamation that possessed the archer. and with those words, he fired. The bow shattered as soon as it released the javelin now covered in tar, leaving the archer and launched towards the orc left on the Broken Shore! Striking Kyoukiyama in the back, the tar enveloped him and he roared! The rope that had been tied to the javelin was bound to the ship. Upon it, the crew could only watch in awe of what happened next.

Kyoukiyama held ground and bashed his shield against the very foot of the infernal bomb, somehow tripping the massive boulder constructed creature with enough force to bring it immediately down.... Atop himself... A roar was heard, a blinding green light welled up from the fel flames of the monster that landed upon the monstrous orc, and a blast like no other rang out, flinging stragglers further into the waters if not incinerating them! But just before the explosion could fully conduct, a black veil covered it, a massive glob of blackness swallowed up the flames, the blast, the light itself, and then faded out...

"Reel that line in! MOVE!" Ordered a captain as the retreating ships now pressed on into the waters! Hastily the now freed undead began heaving the line! nearly a minute of combined work from multiple crewmates yielded a result.. A blackened orcish skeleton was dragged onboard.. lifeless, but still fully connected, the bones of the very orc that stood the shore silenced the deck...

The horde warships returned that day, bringing the wounded and dead with them... but this skeleton did not remain in their custody long... Kyoukiyama was prounced dead, and his body was declared burned on a funeral pyre... However.. unbeknownst to many.. it remained in two conditions. One of which: it was being kept for study.. The other; It was alive...

Kyou's body was no longer where it should be. Oriy, the Necro-Crafter discovered this fact before many others within The Grim. The truth came to him nearly within an instant. He unsealed the chamber Kyou hid within only to be met with a flood of tiny black insect erupting from it! His limbs sprouting and instantly shooting to at least five of these bugs yielded not a single capture. his magical eyes observed the cause, and Oriy tilted his head in curiosity.

"Subject: Kyoukimaru... Fel Energy, consumed.... Shadow Powers.... excelled... Insects... Fragments... searching for source....." he mumbled to himself as the flood of strange creatures escaped him. His skeletal limbs receded back into his plated armor... they hadnt captured a one, as these bugs appeared to be more illusion than anything. upon touch, Oriy's physical hands merely passed through them without effecting them at all.

Kyou's body had left his chamber, but the fragments left behind, as if coordinated, now struck out. seeking something..

.......What are you?

I am Kyoukimaru. I am a monster born of demonic influence meeting the shadows of the Old Gods...

....But what... are you?

I am a blade. Tempered by will. Sharpened by Trial. Pointed at my enemy, though they are not wary...

But...... What are YOU?

I.... Am a Monster...

....Is that good?

......Yes....

..But why? You live outside of the world in which you reside.... You will never be at home existing in the shadows of reality...

Is that bad?

........

...I am more than fire and death. I am more than shadow...

.....But... what else can you be, as an outsider to this material plane?

..I am Grim...

Kyoukimaru's body stained the Broken shore for months.... To prematurely use itself when form it could barely hold was beyond risky. But.... one that had a certain a payout. Kyou's liquid shadow body gathered sense in its mindless state of decay. It gathered a scent... a taste... a hunger...

Kyoukimaru used his lack of form to not only his advantage, but that of the survivors, now long gone. He'd attached a thin line from where his soul hid through a harpoon that connected to the shadow of the most powerful soul he'd attached to, Lady Sylvanas Windrunner. When Kyoukiyama fended off the Fel Nuke, Kyou cut his tie to his own body, leaving it to cling to the largest source of energy in range. Fel Energy. and though in the end it could not consume the explosion and was splattered everywhere, it was far from dead.. Kyoukimaru's mind left without a trace, after a calculated seed was planted. His body haunted the very demons of the Broken Isles for months to come... Adventurers would rarely witness it, the blacked ichor that swallowed up demons, leaving not a single trace. The stories started in Suramar, but soon spread across the Broken Isles. The few that could recognize this strange tar were those who witnessed the Broken Shore... One of which, sought eternity.

"So... you've been there this entire time..." Sylvanas growled as she looked at her shadow, being joined by the very same insects Oriy unwittingly released. "You will need to tell me what all makes you whole, shadow..." she sighed as a tiny skeleton, blacker than the darkest of nights pulled itself from her.

"...Personally. It was more luck than anything. that and a lot of demons.. Now if you'll excuse me... Ive got a body to track down." Kyoukimaru said as his skeleton stood before the Dark Lady herself only for a moment, before blowing away in a gentle wind.
