Grim Views

High Inquisitor Khorvis,

I have accomplished all I was sent to do in Dun Morogh. Along with this report I have sent you the scalps of several dozen dwarves and one draenei I encountered in my incursion. At the start of my strike, I launched an attack on the Airstrip. I slew the guards at the gate to the city to attract attention while I carried on with the slaughter.

I stole my way into a structure on the airstrip compound and butchered the inhabitants.

In response to my attacks, a lone paladin got the drop on me while I was preoccupied with the airstrip guards. I was forced to retreat momentarily, but the paladin believed me dead in the snow, so I moved on to the next target: Gol'Bolar Quarry.

After sending the guards into a panic there, I moved northwards to the Amberstill Ranch, hoping to confuse any pursuers. Surprisingly, there were few to respond to my attacks thereafter, though I later discovered why.

From the Ranch, I moved after a bigger target: Kharanos. I have been told the brewery there is one of the dwarves' finest. I am sure the ale I pillaged will be more than satisfactory for Lupinum.

Outside the tavern, however, a draenei paladin stepped forth to put a stop to my assault. The guards stepped down as we fought one another, but in the end, I proved the better of us two.

At last, it was time to raid Ironforge. I flew through the main gates and hid in the shadows of the city's cavernous roof, waiting for the right moment to strike. It came as I investigated the library. It was already under attack by a group of Horde soldiers. I utilized their attack to slaughter the pitiful Alliance resistance fighters for as long as the distraction held.

I paused only long enough to grab a rather hefty gilded tome from the largest section of the library. Supplicant Le'sara should be more than pleased with it, as the area was heavily guarded.

The group pushed inwards toward the Great Forge. The push gave me the perfect opportunity to weave through the enemy lines, slitting throats and bashing in skulls.

At last, as I looked back at the carnage, I knew my trial was at an end. Though loathe I was to give up the fight after a measly half hour, my pleasant encounter with the Horde troops came to an end as they took a portal to Stonard, of all places. I found my own route out, through the pipes of the Deeprun Tram.

I hope this report is found satisfactory. If not, I am more than prepared to return to the snows of Khaz Modan and remind the dwarves why we should be feared.

The High Inquisitor took to the ramparts of the Grim Halls in order soak up what meager summer rays could penetrate the perpetual gloom of Tirisfal. He made his rounds, circling the perimeter of an inner courtyard and made a mental note to beseech the druids. Far too many of the gardens had overgrown with bramble and weed. Absorbed in Supplicant Kazarak's report, Khorvis sputtered as he walk mouth-first into the dead branches of an aged and diseased oak.

"Phaw! Blight-cursed thing!" He spat out a few twigs and glared at the ancient tree, gnarled and twisted into a gross mockery of nature's intent. The orc reached for his blade, thinking to cleave the perpetrator in two, then paused when a moment of clarity dawned upon his sloped brow.

For one hundred years the tree must have stood in the courtyard, sucking up the life of whatever attempted to grow in the gardens, its long roots a sieve for nutrients and soil. The comparison to the Dwarven race was not lost upon Khorvis. Eons of burrowing into the earth and stealing from their neighbors had made the goatsuckers fat and proud. It was not until another force more powerful, a greater blight, had assaulted their roots that the race would fall.

That righteous blight was the Mandate. Kazarak was the carrier.

Sheathing his greatblade, Khorvis unfurled a bloody scrap of dwarven flesh from his Supplicant's report and placed it upon the oak's trunk with a wet, echoing "thwap!" He then broke from the rampart a length of iron railing and drove it into the skin, nailing it to the tree. With a nod, he spun on his heel and marched back into the depths of the Halls.

Khorvis, from the Desk of Resolve, wrote:Supplicant Kazarak,

You have done a great deed in the name of the Mandate, and the Horde. With so many dwarves dead, surely many of their bloodlines wilt! We must always be ready to hack at the roots of Ironforge, for the goatsuckers do be a choking vine upon Azeroth.

It also speaks to your character that you were able to recover the tome for Supplicant Le'sara and, more importantly, the coveted brew for Brother Lupinum. I do be certain that the Deathless will show you his thanks. I did not be mistaken for trusting your vision! You may be worth my time.

Consider your Trial of Combat to be a resounding success, echoing from the cliffs of Dun Morogh. Lok'tar!

Now comes the second, the Trial of Resolve. Enclosed in this missive you will find reports on two Grim and one outsider. You will seek them out, as well as one other Grim of your choosing, and discover what led them to the Mandate. Question them and respect their honor. Learn what our Mandate means to each.

Harbinger Ashenfury: The Elder ghosts our Halls and has not been seen in many years. His deeds are legend and the Grim need his wisdom now more than ever. Seek him out through the spirit world - that do be your surest bet.

Reaper Bishoph Steele: Recently raised to his rank, the priest has shown more promise than many of his contemporaries. If all Supplicants could show his fervor, the Alliance would fall years in advance. Hard to miss.

Aarenadria Elaleana Fedraesi Anastasis: Known as Aaren to most, this priestess do be fool for failing to join the Grim. She do be a terror upon the battlefield. It pains me nightly that she do tramp with those vagabonds of Borrowed Time. *there is a lot of rabid scribbing here* Find her and discover her intent towards the Mandate.

You have your orders, Supplicant Kazarak. While your first trial was impressive, I do have very little patience for failure and sloth. Fail me and learn why I do carry this barbed chain called the Lash. Succeed and find your resolve in the Mandate.
