Just a Murloc...

Kyoukimaru was at his old business once again.
His form was malleable, and very often able to perfectly shift to another body. In short, Shapeshifting was possible for the rogue due to his unnatural making. In many senses, it was a useful tactic. Even in combat where most fragile forms would fall apart, Kyou would prevail. But, as his personality would have it, Kyou utilized none of this talent for anything sneaky. His personality dictated his own definition of the term stealth. That being: If there are no survivors, no one saw you!
"RUN! The river murlocs are attacking! RUN!!!" screamed a human male, bolting out of Goldshire! the nine guards on patrol the frantic man passed and shouted to all stopped and looked to each other confused. A murloc? Really? But the sounds of battle rang out on the beaten path ahead of them, with them a loud explosion! A severed limb, obviously from a human, ended its flight just before them, landing in front of the patrol to confirm SOMETHING was attacking the town.
"Send word to Stormwind! We have an attack!" The captain of the guard shouted! The messenger that had accompanied them quickly took to his horse and fled back towards the city. The guards then looked ahead and steeled themselves. Charging forward, the men of the law stormed into Goldshire!
What they came upon was not just a battlefield. It was a graveyard. Skeletons and corpses lay about from various villagers and guards, as well as heroes of the Alliance. They had been slain and their bodies all lay covered in slashes. They looked like a gnome would if sucked into the turbine of a gyrocopter! But the strangest part. They couldnt see anything. Most the villagers had fled, or been killed. And the heroes that were here were either picked off or doing the same and sparing their own lives.
"Cowards! Where is it! Where is this monster?! COME BACK AND FIGHT FOR YOUR PEOPLE!" The Captain shouted. But as he did, a grip hit him. something dark chilled his spine. His eyes widened as he heard a whisper.
"They flee because they saw..." Came a multi toned voice. Immediately, the captain whipped around, finding him looking at his guardsmen shocked.
"Who... Who said that?" The captain asked angrily. The guards looked confused. No one had heard anything. but again the voice echoed in their captain's mind.
"Do you... wish to see me? I am the one who killed them." Came the dark voice once more echoing in the mind of the captain.
Immediately dismounting and drawing his sword and shield, the captain found his patrol following in suit as he shouted! "SHOW YOURSELF, MONSTER!"
The guards heard it, the sound of a human calling out from the inn, the crashing sound of the window confirmed the location of this beast, as a head was flung into the road. The freshly severed head however, didnt last. Something quickly ate away at the flesh, leaving it to dissolve into a bleached barren skull within seconds before the patrols' eyes. The guardsmen quickly formed up around the Inn and awaited order to infiltrate. But another whisper had their captain on edge... He held his hand up. eyes locked on the door, barely moving. Almost as if in a trance..
That's when they heard the sound of tiny footsteps. The pitter patter of something fleshy walking towards the inn entrance. Regardless of orders, the guardsmen stood ready for anything! Their weapons drawn, they waited until the sounds turned to sight to confirm a target.
It was a murloc after all. Calmly walking out of the inn came a blue murloc, and a rather small one at that! The guards looked confused a moment as the amphibious creature walked out of the inn to stand before all of them calmly. It looked like any other murloc would. it was unarmed, tiny, and fragile looking when compared to the platoon of guards from stormwind. A moment passed as the guards stared down the fish creature. It merely stood there and looked around. The guards didn't notice the movement of their captain's lips, as they were fixated on this possible enemy. But the nightmare that had envoloped their captain was settling in as he stared at this creature without blinking.
"You are alone. Surrounded by monsters.. Look around you. This village. it was attacked by these monsters." Came the voice.
"But how... how did they get here? why?" The captain whispered back, merely mouthing panicked words from his silent body.
"They're monsters... it's their nature. they've taken a liking to you. They wont see it coming. Look. Look. Look around you and see their true form. They've deceived you this whole time. Now go... Go forth.. And DESTROY YOUR ENEMIES!" The voice boomed inside the frantic mind of the guard captain as an image flashed into his mind's eye. a view of a beast, monstrous and maddening. A picture of the very essence of insanity. His voice came out finally, but not with words... With a battlecry!
The captain whipped around and howled as he rammed his shield into the guard beside him, knocking the young man over and sending him rolling! The others backed up and turned to the screaming captain to see blood draining from his eyes as he charged forward! It wasn't until the platoon watched their captain ram his sword through the heart of the fallen guard that they caught wind of combat!
"Captain's gone mad! Defend yourselves!" A guard shouted as they formed up reluctantly. The captain charged the group howling and screaming, his words making little to no sense! He viciously hacked and slashed away at the wall of shields that had been quickly built by the guards to defend each other! Bashing and slashing, trying to get a blade in, the guards pushed back and called out, trying to shout sense into their captain. but all they received was a flurry of slashes and the anguished cries of a madman! It was so sudden, that not many could even figure out what to do beyond block!
"I MUST GO TO HIM. HE LIVES BELOW.. NO HE LIVES HERE. IN ME! HE IS THE ONE! HE CONSUMED THE DEMONS TO SAVE US ALL! YOU! YOU MONSTERS! YOU WISH TO SLAY THE SAVIOR OF OUR PERFECT WORLD! I MUST GO TO HIM! AND I WILL BRING HIM YOUR CORPSES!" The captain screamed as he assaulted his troops! His sword chipping and breaking as he mercilessly attacked the group! But something else filled the air soon after, and overpowered the voice of the berserk captain!
"MRRGRGRGRLGLGLRGLRLGLRGLRLGLRLGLRGLRGLGLRLGLRGLLL!!!!" Shrieked a battlecry! And with it the guardsmen could only watch as a murloc, holding a knife leapt upon the back of their mad captain, and subsequently drove the blade into his neck!
"I HAVE BEEN CHOSEN!" The captain howled as his blood swiftly drained out an artery! But with the stab, an unseen force worked its way inside. Black smoke began to seep from the captain's injury, mouth, and nose, and the stench of burning flesh filled the air! He fell to the ground shortly after and hunched over, curling into a bloody ball of armor locked in the fetal position. Curled up like an insect, no one could see any of his revealed skin. But their focus swiftly changed to their unlikely savior. A murloc, and a rather small one at that.
You see. they hadn't seen what the captain caught. When the window was broken, only one man looked inside the inn. while the other guards all looked at the head before charging forth... their captain caught a tiny glance at the shadow figure behind the broken glass.
The murloc looked up with the knife in his hand at the guards, who still huddled behind their little wall of shields. They looked back for a moment as everything else went quiet.
"Mrglgrgl? MRGAAAGRGLRGL!" The murloc gurgled at them as if communicating.
They lowered their guard..
"It's a monster... but it did just save us..." one guard sighed as he looked at the tiny little murloc.
"But what about what happened here? Aint this mongrel the culprit?" The other said as he kept his weapon drawn and ready, not fully dropping guard.
"I dont think so.. they live close by.. but we need to retreat for now. Something caught hold o the cappin! We gotta get more guards down here. It dont feel right..." another guard spoke up, rousing the group to get back to their senses. They nodded, 8 men strong and carefully tread away from the murloc. The tiny creature followed, stepping as if trying to mimic the guards careful movements. Seeing the tiny creature follow, the guards raised shields and waved their weapons to try and scare the creature off. it merely waved its little knife back and gurgled again.
"Shit. Thomas, just kick it or something. if it follows us it'll get killed.." One guard said as the platoon reached their horses and began mounting, leaving one guard left looking at the little murloc. He was the one who wanted to spare it for helping them. He hesitated and stepped back trying to shoo it away, but to no avail.
"Alright... sorry litttle guy... but SHOO!" Thomas said as he closed his eyes and kicked! A thud was heard along with a pained cry. When the guard opened his eyes he looked to see where the murloc landed. "Where'd it go?" He asked before looking at the platoon. They stared at the road ahead confused.
"Did it just?" One guard asked as he stared at the very murloc that had just been kicked off in the other direction. But something else was wrong. Something eerie was in the air. The guards all looked curiously at the murloc ahead of them. It didnt move naturally anymore, mimic them, or waved a little knife around. It held it's stomach and grinned its teeth, wheezing a gurgly laughter. getting excited more and more, the murloc began laughing at the guards hysterically! The guardsmen didn't even have time to draw. A voice called out from the Murloc, loud, obnoxious, multi-toned, but at it's heart sounded like a goblin.
"FOR THE MRGLMURR!" The murloc shouted before vanishing, dancing through a volley of images and within an instant eviscerated the platoon in a flurry of blood and knives! The guards, horses and all fell to the ground, dead on contact..

Later

Another platoon of guards, sent from the Stormwind Stockades to reinforce Goldshire rode towards the town. They could only gag at the scent, but the sight was far more gruesome.
A pile of skeletons lay in the town center, before them sat a banner planted into the ground. The Grim logo flew before them. the destroyed armor of the fallen all lay neatly piled around a trash receptacle for the inn.. Courteous in a grim sort of way..
"Horde..." A guard growled.
As the guards worked to regroup and scout the town for survivors they found the town itself undamaged beyond broken windows and small explosive like burn marks. It was a tactical assault. As they regrouped once again in the town center, ready to bring word back to stormwind of the attack's end, a sound alerted them once again to the pile.
A large wrap of vines burst from the earth beneath the pile, all wrapping around and gripping it as a whole! The strange bone-like vines pulled, forcing the earth to give way swiftly revealing a soft red glow, and pulled the bones into the earth! The guards jumped back and drew their weapons expecting a fight. but nothing came from the ground.. just an assortment of crunching sounds, and the sound of something moving under the ground before suddenly again there was silence. the red glow faded from the earth and the guards were left frightened and confused.
