The scroll is rolled with a blank piece of parchment, empowered with similar runes as well as a sigil of transportation. Safe correspondence could be engaged with the use of this second blank scroll. To Whom it May Concern, that being Qabian Grimfire,
Your expertise is requested in an effort to infiltrate Kirin Tor storage facilities concerning powerful arcane arts and secrets. Your knowledge and skill will be called forth in this elaborate plan to recover specific tomes of great power. While the Kirin Tor is a "neutral" faction, they have a heavy bias towards the Alliance (despite recently removing one Jaina Proudmoore from their higher ranks). In order to maintain Horde superiority, we must ensure that they lack access to these powerful spells.
Arcanum Temporum - This tome is a collection of some of the more powerful time-based arcane magics collected from Suramar. Individually, the spells themselves are rather standard. However, under proper conditions and combined together, they prove incredibly powerful.
Of Dragons and Magic - Details regarding the Blue Dragonflight concerning Kalecgos' ascension and detailed maps of the leylines of Azeroth. The maps themselves are of greater importance as we have little need for empowering a dragon. Empowering spells through manipulation of leyline energies results in some rather... interesting effects.
Archmage Antonidas' Spellbook - Perhaps the most heavily guarded tome, within are held a myriad of secrets reserved only for the upper echelon of the Kirin Tor. Any secrets held within may be applied to numerous spells and further researched to grant higher power to soldiers of The Grim.
The Effects of Arcane and Fel Magic Upon the Elements - A rather common tome, this one is available for those within the Kirin Tor to view at their leisure. At the very least, we require a copy of this time. Understanding how magic mixes will be crucial to future endeavors.
Additional tomes are not required, but considering your expertise you may have your own ideas as well. More knowledge is welcome.
Now, as for your role itself, you will be given an appropriate task based on your skills. Your people skills. You must make sure that we have unrestricted access to certain levels of the Kirin Tor archives. In addition, we will need to be able to get one person inside the archives themselves for the retrieval of heavily-guarded tomes. Such a task is not easy, but you are the best-suited for it. Bor'ghul will be orchestrating this endeavor and you may seek him out with any inquiries you may have.
Further instructions will come, but for now hold the door for The Grim.
Peace Through Annihilation.
The Heist: The Doorman
The Heist: The Doorman
Appearing at the residence of Qabian Grimfire, a bound scroll that appears protected by numerous wards and runes can be found in a rather obvious place.
Re: The Heist: The Doorman
Qabian sighed as he entered his apartment in Silvermoon, tossing his staff to the floor with a clatter as he moved towards the bed, muttering something that may have been "Fuck Frost."
He flinched bodily as he passed the desk and noticed something out of place. On top of a world map dotted with red Xs over Alliance territories sat a scroll shimmering with magic, a scroll he hadn't put there himself.
Qabian took a deep breath as he reached out for the scroll. The mage's living space didn't have the massive layers of security he had put in place in years past, or even what he'd had in Dalaran after his run-in with Cavanaugh. He hadn't really angered anyone badly enough recently to bother booby trapping his own home. This was Silvermoon, after all. What was the worst that could happen? Yet here was evidence someone had entered uninvited.
He touched the scroll gingerly, half expecting to be electrocuted or worse, but the wards fell away, responding to his identity. As he unrolled the scroll, his gaze went immediately to the signature, or lack thereof, but what was there was enough to cause him to relax as he sat back in his chair. "Bastards couldn't just use the bloody mailbox, hm?" he said aloud to no one.
Qabian kicked off his boots as he read the contents of the letter, beginning to understand exactly why it had not come by regular mail and seemed satisfied with its sudden invasion of his home, although he still had questions, particularly about this named Bor'ghul person he didn't recall ever having met.
He smirked, recognizing each of the titles requested. The only one he had never seen for himself was Antonidas' Spellbook. That would present the real challenge. He was tempted to mention he could simply copy the others from memory, but any magic the tomes themselves held would be valuable, not to mention the inherent and amusing value in removing them from the hands of the Kirin Tor.
"People skills" was one way to put Qabian's advantage to the task at hand, but his people skills lay in bribery, blackmail, and threats, a far cry from the charm the terminology implied. Still, there were few in the Kirin Tor who didn't know that those who got on Qabian's bad side tended to suddenly suffer from a string of bad luck, if they didn't outright disappear. He generally made following his suggestions worth their while, so he doubted the task in front of him would be overly challenging, although certain mages would likely not survive what was to come.
Qabian made a mental note to find more sightless eyes before whatever followed this letter came to pass, in addition to perusing the library catalogs for other volumes the Kirin Tor might sorely miss.
