copies to subordinate Inquisitors
summary at end
High Inquisitor,
Per our discussion, and in keeping with the Mandate's primary theme, I have proven competence in the battlegrounds against the alliance rather than other threats to the Horde. You will find enclosed written confirmations of my deeds, or other recorded proof as necessary.
I volunteered my healing services primarily in a solitary manner, a pursuit which is as unfulfilling as expected. As available, few Grim accompanied me me in later skirmishes. Kelgrave, you yourself, one troll calling himself Rakaganje, and Tesonni of the Grim can give credence to my claims.
I enlisted with my brother Forsaken Marius Kelgrave at the start, intending to assist him in his own trials. I expect he will have far better success in his particular endeavors with the full might of the Grim to support him. As it was, my skills in the Light were not a proper complement to his aggressive tendencies and favored odds in combat. At the best under my care, I counted seventeen alliance to fall to his ax before he was borne to his knees by sheer numbers. To my knowledge, he must slay twenty in succession without falling? I am not aware how many of those seventeen received their deathblows at his hand, however. I will assist as I can in his future attempts.
Together, my brother Forsaken and I managed to earn accolades despite the Horde's failure to defend the Strand of Ancients. We were named Ancient Protectors for a string of ten alliance kills within a single skirmish. Five of those were carrying bombs attempting to blow a hole through gates blocking their advance.
You are well aware I'm sure, High Inquisitor, of the uncoordinated havoc Horde forces display without a firm mind of leadership to guide them. I regret that I was not able to join the Grim when they enlisted to the battlemaster's call. I am certain that a force familiar with it's own strengths and weaknesses, with practiced strategy, can complete the objectives of which I routinely witnessed failure to achieve.
This is not to say that the Horde is incompetent. I witnessed many feats of valor and displays of martial prowess while assigned to the various forces. I made note of these persons, and been sure to recommend them for promotion after the battle was won or lost. During the fighting, I was sure to pay particular attention to these fighters as well. While I do not yet wear the Grim colors, the name was mentioned, and perhaps they will find their way to the Mandate as I have.
After a day to recover, I joined the Horde forces once again, this time with a small contingent of allies of Grim, Sanctuary, and other colors unrecognized by myself. On contested ground in the Netherstorm, somehow I found myself on a small bridge of land with the opportunity to complete the objective personally. I snatched the asset and ran for my life. I will say now with honesty that I did not expect to succeed. My escort was under siege, and assassins slipped through the lines to assault me directly. Somehow, I was able to evade them and reach safe haven in a tower, where they were felled by the defenders there. Again, the victory ultimately went to alliance forces, but I did my best to see otherwise. They did not come by it easily, or without heavy losses for their effort.
As an additional bonus, for my participation on the front lines, I have earned acceptable replacements for the armor and weapons which were lost to me during the attack of Brill. I consider this upgrade to superior quality items as an achievement of it's own merit.
I am well aware that I have not satisfied the additional requirement placed upon me to succeed at this trial, which was specifically to complete it in the company of no less than two Grim Forsaken. This is not for lack of the attempt. I did request to be assigned with both the warlock Malhavik, and my Brother of the Light and Shadow Lupinum. We were instead ordered to separate forces on a consistent basis. However, there was no stipulation that both Forsaken need be present at the same time. Both gentlemen, as well as Marius Kelgrave, can vouch for my ability and competence.
I submit these actions, witnessed and confirmed, as proof of my competence to complete the first trial of the Inquisition. With your permission, I will advance to the next task to prove understanding of the Mandate's tenet.
