Lobo's Interview

Unread post by Chaindog »

Lobo sits down at her desk, and pulls a clean piece of parchment out and a quill with fresh ink in the inkwell. She takes a moment to stare out the window reminiscing about the interview she just had.

She'd just awoken in New Agamand in the Howling Fjord. Downed some breakfast and then said her usual "Greetings Grim" salutation into the hearthstone. Most days there was silence. Her hours were few and rare that she'd be able to hunt. Today's response was different though. A "Well Met." was heard from the stone. The voice was deep, earthly, full of confidence and yet steady. She had heard this voice before. It was the commander's. Commander Awatu of the Grim no less.

Inquisitor Syreena had said there was a deadline for the interview. Lobo herself didn't know if she'd see another Grim of sufficient rank for the interview in time. The spirits had known her for 15 years that she'd been one. They must have been laughing.

"Gracious Illustrious Commander. Would you have time for an interview?" she said into the stone. Lobo pauses and runs a hand over her face. I can't believe I said that. She looks down at the parchment and begins to write:

This interview conducted by Supplicant Lobo

Interviewee: Commander Awatu

She stares at the parchment. The name Awatu mostly. "Of course" he said. Shit I thought, I'm committed like a pig at breakfast now. Lobo continued "Where might I meet you that I can get to?" Awatu said, "Can you get to Dalaran?" Lobo thought, well, it's going well so far. "I can get there yes." "Good, Valindria will be joining us." What!? He's bringing his executioner? Ah shit, shit, shit shitty shit. I didn't do anything wrong! I want to keep my head, I just got it back. "I am underway." Lobo recalls saying.

Lobo pauses to take a drink of Grog. She nearly chokes. "Damn, this stuff is vile, and yet so alluring." It was such an odd place where she found it in the guild hall. Like someone didn't want it found or something.

Her arrival at the Filthy Animal in Dalaran was uneventful. She parked her ghoul at the door and walked in. She took a look around and spotted the Tauren at a table. He doesn't seem that big she thought. Then when she got the table she realized the table was built for a Tauren and she had to hop up onto the bench to take a seat. She recalls look up at him, and thinking 'note to self: don't get underfoot near him'.

She starts to write the first question down:

Question 1. What does it mean to be Grim?

He mentions it was a question since of the founding of the Grim.

Answer: Victory, Success, Survival. In the end we are all that is left. We achieve our goals no matter who the enemy and through our victories, we achieve peace.

She didn't have time at the time to give it much thought, but considering it now, it was what she herself wanted in the end as well.

Question 2. Why join the Grim?

He talked a little about a Warlock named Bor'ghul that thrives in the battlegrounds.

Answer: He saw the group who will not bow to some fatling lord or a human king. He fears the Horde would turn in that direction, but was grateful the Grim see otherwise.

It was interesting answer. Much like hers really, though, she was just looking a group that doesn't mind her going off and killing without restriction.

Question 3. I was going to ask about his clan or tribe, but got told it was the Stonespire and they were no more. Rather than insist, and possibly get my head removed by Valindria, I decided to move on.

Yeah, Lobo thinks. Good call. I just don't know him well enough or have the right to ask him.

Question 4. Why join the light?

It was interesting to learn that it wasn't the human paladin 'light' but rather An'she, follower of the Sun or as he put it 'Sunwalker'. An opposite of the Mu'sha, follower of the moon as most druids do. I needed clarification and got that it was not wholly divine.

Answer: My conviction is from both the Grim and the Earthmother that give me power. It would be relatively between spirituality and divinity.

Lobo pauses to drink some more Grog. She thinks of smashing the tankard in anger, as memories come back of the light failing her. Of vowing vengeance on Arthas, and then finding out he's already dead, but what good would that do? It would be better to save that anger for the alliance later.

Question 5: How did you come to bear the mantle of the Grim?

Huh, mantle she thinks. She used that word because it seemed right or was it she read it somewhere or someone told her. She shakes her head trying to put all the rambling thoughts away.

Commander Awatu mentioned that Greebo wasn't designed to lead? Well, she didn't know who else would read this and that it wasn't her place to pass judgment on her betters so it would be best to leave that part out.

Commander Awatu was High Inquisitor at the time after Ashenfury stepped down.

Answer: Abric -> Greebo -> Commnder Awatu

Lobo

With that Lobo dusts the parchment to dry and then posts it in the main hall of the guild hall.

Syreena nodded as she read the report, then put it on top of a stack of papers on her desk, which meant she would never ever find it again.
