Trials of the Supplicants

Unread post by Awatu »

((I'll be keeping a record of Awatu's thoughts and musings on Supplicants here as they complete their Inquisitions. Rather than make a new tiny thread every time, this one will just be updated when a Supplicant turns in their Trial of Sacrifice.))

The elf disappeared beyond the archway leading further into the Shrine as Awatu looked down at the bits of broken fang. A small scattering of powdered residue marred the surface of the stone floor. Shattered bits surround the area where the hammer struck the fang, and a small frown tugs at his mouth. He picks up the pieces, earning a curious glance from a Pandaren record-keeper, before he walks downstairs to a lit brazier. He looks at the flames for a moment before tossing the remnants of the fang into the fire. It would take a long time before they are nothing more than bits of charcoal, but that was not a concern of his.

He touched a necklace of kodo teeth around his own neck. "That necklace was nothing but a memory... So what makes mine different? he pondered, staring into the flames. "The spirit of the kodo gives me power and insight. It is not a hindrance to The Mandate. A memory that holds back an arrow or a spell can be. A memory that diverts thoughts from our goals will. That is the difference. he sighed softly, turned away from the brazier and made is way towards the entrance. A call for battle came from his hearthstone and his pace quickened for a moment. A few deep breaths before mounting his hippogryph, he looked up at the fading twilight of the evening. The words he had said to Naroka came back to his mind. "Do not forget the past, but do not live in it." Satisfied with these thoughts, he took flight towards the northern reaches of Pandaria.

A rolled scroll waits upon the desk of the Arbiter. The writing is large and blocky, but neat and legible.

"Arbiter,

The Sin'dorei, Naroka Wolfsong, has completed his Inquisition. He fought with the Seigebreakers and earned his kills. He spoke with our members and learned of our history and cause, applying what he learned to his battles. He sacrificed connections to his past that would interfere with The Mandate in the form of a family heirloom and the memories associated with it. This one has done what has been asked of him and has passed my examination of his character. In my eyes, he is Grim. At our next gathering, your final judgment will be carried out.

Awatu, High Inquisitor."

The rope bridge swayed in the light breeze on the Elder Rise of Thunder Bluff. Awatu moved to stand near the edge of the rise and look over the plains into the northwest where the jagged Stonetalons rose along the horizon. The wind picked up and he could hear the drum beats counting out the hour. "Another Sin'dorei and another heirloom." he thought to himself, readjusting the satchel on his side. It possessed a powerful enchantment on it. One that could be useful to agents of The Mandate. It was too valuable to simply burn or destroy. No, unlocking the spell and learning its magics would serve a greater purpose.

"And then he has the memory..." Yes, more of a favor than a sacrifice. However, it would provide a more loyal soldier than he is today. In the land of Pandaria where emotions manifest into powerful beings, control over oneself is of the utmost importance. No, it would be better to deal with this quickly and not have a sha-corrupted Sin'dorei on his hands. Araun, or another Seer capable of mental manipulation will be required. He will ask around, and not leave out any of the important details.

A bundled satchel arrives at the door of the Arbiter, a rolled scroll resting on top.

"Arbiter,

This is a leather chestguard given to me as a sacrifice for The Mandate that belonged to Scyphe Windblade, a Sin'dorei. If you have not noticed, it bears a powerful enchantment on it that reminds me of Bronze flight magic, though it may not be woven by them. Regardless, the details of the spell allow the wearer to see visions in the area from the past. If you believe it to be worth your while and within your power, I would suggest studying the spell and unlocking its secrets so that we may be able to use it for the service of The Mandate. Perhaps some of our other spell-makers or enchanters could be of additional service.

Additionally, our Windblade is in need of a Seer that is capable of altering or destroying memories. He has a memory that inhibits his service for The Mandate and seeks to have it removed. I will speak with Araun on this matter, but if you have other ideas then I will hear them.

His Inquisition will be complete once the memory is taken care of and he will be ready to hold the rank of Adherent.

Awatu, High Inquisitor."
