A burbling sound distracted him briefly. He tried to ignore it, focusing on the passage before him. "Fascinating..." he mumbled. It had to do with an interesting hypothesies on the manipulation of time via arcane works that may work to quicken his own casting by focusing the stream flows around a small section of space. But he could not get this last word translated for practical appplications and -
The burbling water sound increased in volume, more insistant. Droplets splashed on the page.
"What!?" the mage snapped in irritation. "What could possibly so felling important that you needed to interrupt me now?" His head snapped up from the book, eyes narrowed in anger.
The water elemental did nothing, it simply stayed were it was, the pools of yellow light that marked its eyes glowing brightly.
"Well? You have my attention. What do you want before I cast you back to the plane!?" To mark his point, Jafylas raised his hand in the beginnings of a dismissive gesture. The living water burbled backwards fearfully, an appendage raised towards another table in the room. The mage's eyes followed the gesture, looking towards where the thing had pointed. There were a small pile of envelopes and papers heaped messily on a table.
"The mail. You interrupted me for the felling MAIL!?" The irritated tone raised to roar of anger as he finished his sentence. The liquid creature shrank back from him even more, but its amorphous arm was still pointing expectantly. With another curse, the blood elf pushed him self from his seat and went to the table, rifling through the envelopes and letters.
"There is nothing here you accursed wretch," he mumbled, scanning everything that was there. ""I swear to you, you will pay for making me -" He broke off as he spied a single letter, and the symbol on its envelope. It was from the Grim. He quickly opened it and read the contents.
"Hmph. Kill one of each. No large matter. If that is what these...Grim, want, than so be it. I can then at least get back to my.." His muttering broke off as he looked at the date written on the letter. It was over a month old. He snarled aloud and absently a bolt of arcane power blasted towards the elemental, sizzling a hole through its center that quickly refilled.
"You let this sit for this long!? What is wrong with you? Do you have any idea what these fools could do to me!?" He shook the paper at the elemental. "I have my research to do, you blasted puddle of piss!" Another bolt arced out from his free hand, catching the creature again. It bubbled in pain. The mage did not even notice.
He gathered his staff and wand, and stomped to the door, pushing his way outside into the sunlight. He paused just outside the doorway. "Well, come on then," he called back to his slave without looking back. "These things wont kill themselves, now will they?"
The water elemental obediently followed after it's master, though its eyes reflected its own deep hate for the elf. A hate it was powerless to act upon. For now.
