A Task of a Long Journey

Unread post by Eclypse »

Tasked by Thalevia to seek the energies of Azeroth, I began my journey at the swirling powers of the Dark Portal. Such darkness churns here, it brings the senses to life. My shadow spins in the presence of this great eye; the voice of my dead sister, Casiopa, speaking through it, "You hesitate, my sister. You embrace not your true self. Are you whole or are you half?"

Casiopa's words haunted me as I flew to the Tainted Scar, that land of demons. I laughed as they challenged me, kneeling to stare in the void of their dead eyes after my rage unleashed. The earth seeped its energy into those void orbs, mirroring back to me twin images of myself. That dead earth spoke, but I did not understand the message.

In the bleak terrain of Karazhan, the souls floated around seemingly unaware of my presence, yet eyes watched, their weight almost unbearable. A darkness is coming. It can be felt in the very air here. "You must be ready, my Sister. You must be whole," came Casiopa's words once again. But I am whole. I stand ready for the fight. Her meaning eluded me.

Scholomance, Library of the Souls I like to call it. The odor of decaying leather tickled my nose as the pages of knowledge flipped under my fingers. The halls whisper here, speaking to me. "Look inside...Look inside..." Were they talking about the mountains of bound text or something deeper?

As I left the halls of Scholomance, I felt the call of the crater once again. It had been many seasons since I felt the pull of the Old Dalaran.

My foot tingles as I step onto the hearth stone where this beloved city once stood. My mind fills with visions of the past, Mother, Father, the rites of the mage and the priest blended in union. Duality, singularity. The earth here hums, the shadow of the past still alive. Visions of the battle filled me, sending my smouldering rage ablaze. "There is another side dear Sister. Embrace your two halves," echoed around me.

It seems clear now why I met the most resistance upon entering the Alter of Storms. The shamanic forces practically split me in two as I neared. Can one be revived from the dead while they live? I do not know, but I surely experienced something close. This place is alive, or is it life, of this I am not sure, but I felt a mending in this place, among the ancient spirits. Again the warning came from this place, something was coming...now is the time for me to embrace my duality.

Darkwhisper Gorge, one of the vilest places, assaulted my nostrils long before it came into view. The demons called from the caverns, their voices mingling with the wind. For a moment I sensed Him, The Lich King. His power is strong here and so are his intentions. A battle is coming that will change the landscape of the world, of this I am sure. This place speaks it in it's corrupt vapors.

Dream Bough, gateway to the Emerald Dream. What a strange world this is! As I traverse along the trail, it seems the very vines can be seen growing around me. Odd how the Guardians let me pass unhindered, as if they were expecting me.

The powers here take ones breath away, the mind floating as if it is held between two worlds. I wanted to step into this portal but a warning came on the wind. In the dream state are mirror images of myself; both covered in blood. Confused I studied the figures closer. Then I understood. The warrior covered in the blood of the enemy, the healer covered in the blood of the once fallen, now raised to fight again.

Casiopa, my dear sweet Sister long fallen, appeared behind the images of myself, embraced them, pulling them together. Shadow curled up, entwining around the two images of me, blending them into one soul.

I lowered my head and took a deep, tentative breath. I knew where my journey must end.

A MoonWell, that mystical pool that breaths into the elf all that it is...all that it must be. Such a fitting place to end these travels. It has been to long since I have refreshed myself. Casiopa stares at me from my reflection. I believe it is the first time she has smiled since her passing. "You will be whole soon, my Sister. Your journey is just beginning. Rest, then take up the charges that have been set to you. I love you, my Sister."
