Sammuel - December 19, 2005

The headaches were back. Like some mad blacksmith beating his
anvil into submission. Closing his eyes tight, Sammuel pauses
long enough to let the wave of pain subside.

So far, he hadn't been spotted. Riding this far into the lands of
the undead was tricky business for someone trying to do it
quietly. If his luck held he'd be in before anyone could raise an
alarm.

Dizzy and lightheaded from the pain, Sammuel bites down hard to
hold on to conciousness. The taste of blood fills his mouth. The
pain from biting his tongue momentarily taking his mind away from
his throbbing head. The reprieve also brings his plan back into
focus.

*Wiping his blade clean on the dead man's shirt, Sammuel stares
blankly, contemplating. All his searching has been for nothing.
He wasn't any closer to finding his sister. A few notes were all
he had to show for his efforts. It was time to take matters to
the source. It was time to question the Dark Lady. *

Barely clinging to the saddle, Sammuel reaches the top of the
hill overlooking the Undercity and the old fallen tower. It was
finally here, time to get some answers and free his sister.

There was no resistance as he slipped in to the sewers, winding
his way down into the bowels of the Undercity. The sounds of the
city echoed up to him, as did the stench that soaked into the
clothes and skin. If the headaches didn't kill him, the smell of
this place surely would.

The sounds grew louder. Sammuel drew closer to the sewer wall,
becoming more cautios in his advance. He still didn't notice the
troll mage stepping from the shadows before it was too late.
................

Pain. His head throbbed. Every joint ached. His eyes were almost
swollen shut, but he could just make out the shapes of people
standing all around him.

Sammuel reached for his sword, but it was not there. He tried to
reach his feet, only to fall back down.

He could hear a buzzing sound. A steady rhythmic noise that
steadily grew louder. Sammuel tried to lash out at the figures
before him, missing and falling to strike his head against the
floor. He lay there fighting to move, but unable. The buzzing
growing louder and filling his head, in time with the throbbing.

The buzzing grew in his head, impossibly loud. Drowning out the
pain and the panic. Slowly, the buzzing came into to focus. It
was a language, someone was chanting. Another voice was there as
well, whispering to him. A woman. Her rasp somehow soothing.

Sammuel forced himself to focus, searching for the source of the
woman's voice. There she was, the object of all his searching.
Harmony. His sister come back to him.

Then everything went black.
