The Story of Solaranik
Solaranik - November 21, 2005
Solaranik pulls out a book and places it on a table. After
pulling out a quill and a inkwell of elven blood he begins to
write neatly...or atleast tries to.::
You all know me as Solaranik, the big tauren covered in
mail...and no Kikyo I don't mean covered in "male".
::Solaranik chuckles slightly before writing again.::
I don't like to write much...or read for that matter, but that
doesn't mean I won't do it at all. But I figured that I should
write in this book so everyone in our family could learn more
about me. And yes...I do think of us as a family even though none
of us are related by birth and what not...well I think none of us
are related that way but I am not sure. Anyways...more about me I
suppose.
I was born in Mulgore like many tauren in this land of ours. I
lived a simple life as a child, since I did not have much when it
comes to wealth. My parents were both hunters and provided much
for the tribe that I lived with. They hunted so everyone could
live...they were generous that way. Sure they could have kept
everything for themselves and me, but they didn't...and that is
why they were thanked each and everyday for it. If it was not for
them...I would not be here with you all today.
I spent many years with my parents living in Mulgore...well that
is until they were killed anyways. I did not know why my parents
were killed...and I did not know what killed them even though I
saw them. All I remember is their blue colored skin and pointed
ears...I soon learned that they were called Night Elves.
::Solaranik stops writing and growls loudly as images of his
parents being killed enters his mind. He then set his quill down
and closed the book, he then placed it on the table before
shedding a slight tear. His eyes stared at the book for a moment,
he then turned around and walked out of the room.::
::Solaranik returns to the room after spending many hours
sleeping. He sat on a chair and opened up the book. He then
pulled out his quill and inkwell again. He dipped the quill in
the elven blood and started writing once more.::
The Night Elves that I mentioned before seemed to not notice
me...but that is because I hid underneath the bed that I slept
on. At that time I was surprisingly small for a tauren at that
age...it was fortunate for me though. If they did see me, they
would have surely killed me. I am glad that I did not die like my
parents did...or my bloodline would have ended right there. I am
not saying that I wanted to see my parents die...it's just...oh
nevermind.
::Solaranik stops writing so he could speak to himself.::
"I need to start phrasing my words better, or everyone will think
I am saying things that I do not mean."
::Solaranik continues writing some more.::
When the Night Elves left my village, I went outside to see if
anyone else survived. When I lifted up the kodo skin that covered
my front door, I saw fire everywhere. The village was completely
engulfed in flames, except for a few homes...mine was one that
was untouched. I started to greatly panic because I had a fear
for fire then...since I had an accident with flames earlier on in
my life. After a few mintues passed...the time that it took for
me to calm myself down, I went back inside of my house.
I grabbed a satchel from underneath my bed and started gathering
some things. I took the few clothes I had, a few chunks of kodo
meat, and a few things to remember my parents by. From my
father...his mighty hammer. And from my mother...well I gave her
one last hug even though she couldn't see or feel me hugging
her...I wanted her to be in my arms for one last time. I stuffed
the meat and clothes into the satchel and slung it over my
shoulder...and held the hammer in my other hand.
After crying for several minutes, I rushed out of my house. I
managed to avoid the surrounding flames...and the scattered
bodies that were laid about. I started to run...not caring where
to go. I ran for hours on end...in fear that the Night Elves were
still near. When I was running, I swear I could hear them near
me...and surely enough they were right on my tail. I tried to
outrun them, but I was sure that they would they would catch me.
I started to cry when I was running...since I did not want to
die. When I saw a village nearby, I started to run faster...or
atleast tried to. The Elves closed the gap that I had on
them...since they were larger and could run faster than me. I
heard them shout some words in their language and knew that it
was the end for me. I turned around and looked at them...but a
few seconds later I turned towards the village once more.
When I faced the village, I heard a female tauren guard yell out
to me.
"Child...if you want to live, then I advise that you duck right
now!"
I did what the guard said and ducked quickly. When I did, she
started to fire many arrows at the Elves. They fell quickly since
the guard was quite skilled with a bow. When I heard the screams
from the Elves, I started shaking quickly...since I was scared
even though they were dead. I didn't move until I heard the tauen
guard walking towards me. I looked up at her and started to cry
again.
She looked at me with a smile on her face. She then offered a
hand to help me up, I quickly grabbed for it. After I did, she
started to speak to me.
"Are you alright little one?" She asked.
I nodded slightly before speaking words of my own.
"I...I am fine I think. Th..thank you for saving me!" I replied.
She then smiled again at me before leading me towards the
village. I looked around at all of the tents, and at the people
who lived there. I was in awe, since I never saw a village that
was so large. When I asked the guard what the place was called,
she told me that it was named, "Red Cloud Mesa."
::After writing the last sentance, Solaranik closed the book. He
placed the quill on the table and left the inkwell as well. He
stretched slightly before standing up. He looked at the book for
a moment before heading to his room to sleep.
