A soft whisper is heard, "Andlat...Andlat." Moments pass. "Andlat....Andlat!" The voice turns sour and almost angry, "Andlat! We need to talk!"
The Priest turns over in his bed a couple of times before gaining his senses. "What do you want? I thought I told you to go away! Why do you still haunt me?!" <frustration evident in the tone of his voice>
The voice slowly starts to begin laughing. "Hehehe, You know as well as I do, Andlat, what would happen if I truly left you. I will say this though, you look good. You have grown since our last... well.. visit." <voice begins to laugh again> "You do remember that day don't you? Ah, the power we had together!"
The frustrated Priest rolls over to turn his back to the sound of the voice. "And I told you I wanted nothing to do with you ever again! You said you would leave me be. I have a "sense" of peace for a while.
"No you haven't! I have been watching you daily. I see how you struggle. From the time you wake up til the time you finally rest your head at night, you are in agony. I can feel it! I have answers, Andlat. I can answer your questions and together, we can satisfy your "hunger". Let me help you, boy."
The Priest puts the pillow over his head as to drown out the sound of the mysterious voice but the voice just goes right into his head. The Priest then begins to recall the night his family was slain. "Leave me alone!" he screams. "Why do you torture me with this?!"
"Do you remember, now? Do you remember the feeling? It was....nice, no?
"I hate you!" the priest whimpers, "Let me be!"
"What did you just say to me?!"
Whispering, the priest answers, "I hate you." A tear is evident in the corner of his eye.
"Ha! You hate me? Do you realize what you are without ME?! You are nothing, Andlat! You are weak! You have nothing, you are nothing, without me! And you know it!" The voice now enraged touches on a sensitive subject for Andlat. "Who do you live for? I know it's obviously your brother, Draumr, but who else? Do you live for anyone? Anything? I know you don't! You know that with me, you have everything to live for! And with me, you don't need anyone. You don't need to live for anyone.
The Priest, removing the pillow from his head, rolls over to look out the window out over beautiful Eversong Woods. "Who do I live for, you ask? I live for anyone and everyone I have grown to love. I have friends you know!"
"Oh do you, now? Tell me something. Would they die for you? I know you would happily die for them, and you are a fool for it, but would they die for you?"
The Priest begins to think about the ones closest to him. He begins to realize the horrible truth that the Voice is talking about. "You know? I don't know! Can we just not talk about this?"
"We WILL talk about this, now!"
The Priest's legs begin to shake, "Sometimes, I wonder if anyone can hear me? I wonder if anyone can see any part of me.... I wonder if they can feel me.." the priest pauses, "And I wonder if anyone would bleed for me." He hangs his head.
"No one does, Andlat. That is why I am here. You don't need "others". You only need what I can grant you. Use me, Andlat! Imagine what we could do together."
The Priest, now on his knees, staring out the window, shows the tears running down his Elf face. "I can't."
"You can't?"
"I just can't."
"What do you mean, you just can't?!"
"I mean" breathing begins to quicken "That I don't want to serve you anymore. I can't do this anymore. There has to be more to life then just hatred and revenge. You might be right when you say no one feels me or is willing to bleed for me, but I have to move passed that."
"You know you are too weak to move passed anything, Andlat. That is why you called me in the first place! And now you wish to just turn your back on everything I have done for you?!" The Voice is enraged "Very well. You are worthless and you always will be! I will return to you when the time is right and we will make everything right! Farewell for now, Priest! Go cry yourself to sleep!"
And with that, Andlat no longer heard the voice anymore. He wiped his eyes and went out to search for his Master, Deathshadow.
"He will know what to do."
