A Brief Departure

Ceryna - December 8, 2005

Inside her room at the Gallow's End Tavern, Ceryna paced back and
forth, while Zepmir, her imp, watched warily from a corner of the
room. Ceryna gnawed on her lip, leaving indentations that seemed
loathe to disappear. On one trip, she kicked a stool, but took no
satisfaction from it.

She couldn't continue like this. Allison was starting to take
Ceryna over, and that could not be allowed... for her and for the
Grim as a whole. Action had to be taken.

She knew that if she asked, her friends in the Grim would help
her. Nether, if she asked, the entirety of the Grim would come to
the Plaguelands... and a part of her wanted to ask, very badly,
wanted not to go off and face her past alone.

But she couldn't do that to them. If the Grim helped kill her
husband, helped to kill Allison Maddings, then they would both
linger every time she saw another Grim. They would haunt her,
like those poor spirits haunted the courtyard of Lordaeron. No,
this was something she actually had to do alone.

She hefted her scythe, recently enchanted with a spell to make it
more effective against demons. Zepmir huddled further into the
corner, and she smiled wickedly at him. She had far to go... but
she had already taken some steps.

She strapped the weapon to her back and left the tavern. She
would have to find Father, tell him that she would be leaving.
Ceryna was not leaving them forever. The Grim was her family, her
home. She would be back, of course... unless she died in the
process.
