Full Name: Gint Blasthammer
Titles or Nicknames: Sky-Captain, or "Ace".
Age: Old... old enough to not want to reveal the true number.
Race: Goblin
Gender: Male
Hair: White (what's left of it)
Eyes: Purple
Height: 4'0
Weight: 120 lbs.
Notable Characteristics: Gint is perpetually smiling, ready with a jest, an adventurous tale of long ago, or simply a tip of his trusty old brown hat. Gint is fond of remarking that at his age, a smile is far better to wear than a frown - less wrinkles show. A fast-talking fellow, Gint craves adventure as much as profit - some of his colleagues might say he even craves adventure more than profit, but that is likely just a scandalous rumour.
Gint is rather brawny for a Goblin, having a stature more akin to an under-sized dwarf than one of his own kind. Gint's physical stature is due to his father's heedless experiments; when Gint was but a child, his alchemist father tested all of his concoctions upon his only child - after all, experimenting on one's son is cheaper than paying a test subject. Gint's father's concoctions "blessed" Gint with great strength and longevity, but the rather nasty side-effect of a very poor memory has caused Gint a life fraught with economic uncertainty (terrible, for a Goblin), and more than a few issues with "misremembered orders" in battle.
Weapons: Being a Goblin of discriminating tastes, Gint tends to favour ornate weapons that value intimidation of appearance over almost anything else. He has an old, simple rapier from his first command as a zeppelin sky-captain which he keeps in immaculate condition, but has no attachments to any other particular weapons, save for the rarest of treasures from forgotten ages... of which he has unhappily obtained very few.
Place of residence: Uldum (Gint loves the heat)
Place of Birth: Kezan
Known Relatives: Due to Gint's prolonged life-span, he has outlived all of his relatives... and acquired their property in the process. Inheritence is a lovely thing.
Companion: None. Gint has some passing interest in pets, but his memory is so shoddy, he'd likely forget to feed them.
Religion/Philosophy: Gint has an overly colourful personality - larger than his short size for certain, and he is always smiling or breaking into some old story of his younger days. Gint is a firm believer that to a Goblin - even one as forgetful as himself - finding profit is innate, and Gint chooses to go about finding said profit at the point of a sword. Part soldier, part treasure-hunter, and all adventurer, Gint tries not to take his long life too much for granted, and lives to pursue the finer things in life, as all Goblins of good taste do.
Occupation: Gint held the rank of Sky-Captain in the Horde's army, during both the Second and Third wars, serving as Captain of numerous Zeppelins used to transport and escort Horde troops. Gint loves to be airborne, and takes every opportunity to take to the skies, even going so far as to ride his favourite Flying Machine (the Starfighter, he calls it) at nearly all times.
Known Associates: None. Gint has outlived all of his old comrades from the Second War, and most from the Third - that's the trouble when most of your friends were sappers.
Special Skills: A glib tongue, a disarming smile, and astonishing raw strength for a creature of his size.
Positive Personality Traits: Very calm (arguably upbeat) under pressure, with an endearing "friendly old fellow" personality, as well as an affinity for trying to bolster comrade's morale with stories or a good joke.
Negative Personality Traits: Naiveté and ego - possibly in that order. He also has that rotten memory, which while definitely a massive drawback, isn't really a personality issue.
Theme Song: Indiana Jones Theme (Last Crusade, specifically). Gint was originally conceived of as a "true adventurer" long ago, and has been semi-translated from an old Rogue character of mine. Long before Archaeology was proposed or Harrison Jones became such a big deal in WoW, I had always wanted to write a character who is out there adventuring "for the fun of it" - this sound-track has always conveyed that sense of purpose, I think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXd1D3LuVbM
History Before The Grim: The best place to learn about Gint is in the multi-part story I have been writing in as part of an ongoing biography - it can be read here viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4257 . To summarize, Gint was the son of a skilled but monetarily poor Goblin inventor who (as aforementioned) experimented on Gint excessively with his alchemical formulae; repeated exposure to very potent potions at a young age permanently granted Gint great strength and a prolonged lifespan, but at the cost of his memory, which rates between poor and muddled. Gint's main concern (besides trying to end up filthy rich, because of having being poor for most of his life), is to try to live a life beyond the one his father did. A Goblin who never really amounted to his full potential, Gint's father's failings in business spurred Gint to see the world and to make the most of himself so as not to become trapped in the same workshop his father did. Gint very much looks at re-joining The Horde (and The Grim) as a way to get back into the adventures from his younger days that he misses.
History In The Grim: Gint is a new associate of The Grim, and though he finds some of them to be a bit dour for his tastes, he enjoys the company of the Horde once more, and is eagerly looking forward to putting his old skills to the test.
((Gint has been inspired by several fictional and historical personages; he bears little resemblance to any one individual, but is best summed up as an adventurer for adventure's sake, seeing war as exciting and fun, rather than as bloodsport or tragedy. In this regard, despite his age and above-average intelligence, Gint is arguably somewhat naive... or possibly just very, very eccentric.))
