Rethsil

Unread post by Rethsil »

Full Name: Rethsilius Sunspiral
Titles or Nicknames: Rethsil, Reth
Age: 66
Race: Sin'dorei
Gender: Male
Hair: Copper shade, held in a loose ponytail
Eyes: Luminous fel green
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 148 lbs
Notable Physical Features:
At first glance, there isn't a scar anywhere on him (like his face) in spite of his experience in battle. Believed to be a living sin'dorei bobblehead/skeleton, due to his rather skinny body. Rethsil is around average height for a male of his species, nothing special. There is a stoic expression on his features at almost all times, he rarely smiles. Even then, it is a twinge at the most. Although, he will break into laughter at someone else's misfortune. Easy to tell if annoyed, since he will place a hand to his forehead or drag the same body part down his face. Leading such an active life, he is often haggard and exhausted. Arms usually hang downwards, while he leans to one side. At the moment, there are dark circles around his eyes to note his lack of sleep. It also appears he is losing weight at a rapid pace.

Place of residence: Ratchet, Barrens. Anywhere comfortable.
Place of Birth: Silvermoon City
Known Relatives: Lord Maldecai Sunspiral (father - alive), Cevestra Sunspiral (mother - alive), Ranadarus Sunspiral (brother - alive)

Religion/Philosophy:
Doesn't have a religion, other than sometimes referring to the Sun in a deity-like manner. Believes one's destiny is to be shaped by their own choices and actions. Life is what a person makes it, nothing else. In his mind, a miserable commoner will remain a miserable commoner until they decide to take necessary steps to attain better status. Due to his rather unstable upbringing, he has a warrior's mentality and philosophy. This means he's always prepared for combat against his enemies. Serves his Inquisitor and The Mandate without question. No one is more important than the fellow Grims battling at his side. There isn't a such thing as negotiations, talks of treaties, in their war against Alliance. As such, he believes The Mandate's peace to be the least muddled and purest. They seek to simply put an end to the chaos, something he wishes to witness before his time as a capable fighter is over.

Occupation: Rethsil does what he feels like.
Guild Rank: Warbringer
Known Associates: None. Though, there are some who will talk about Rethsil if asked.
Known Nemesis: Any and all Alliance.

Special Skills:
Toughness. Rethsil has a strong desire to survive. This willpower has allowed him to strive and live through ordeals that'd kill most.
Positive Personality Traits: Brutally honest, helpful if he chooses so, quick witted, swift to assist fellow guild members, truthful.
Negative Personality Traits: Argumentative (when felt it's appropriate), arrogant, indecisive, jerkish, violent, shrugs off offered help and a slight case of narcissism.

History Before The Grim:
Started life as the second child to a high class noble family in Quel'Thalas. Maldecai, his father, was a personal advisor to the royal family and high ranking member within the Kirin Tor. As for his mother, Cevestra, she was a well respected quel'dorei in various social circles. Unlike his older brother, he possessed an apparent gift in the arcane from birth as per his lineage. As soon as he could walk, his father took great interest in seeing his son blossom into a powerful spellcaster. Except, there was a distinct problem that became apparent over the following years. Rethsil held a defiant rebellious streak. No matter what punishment he got threatened with, he'd continue to squander his talent to the point high elven tutors didn't bother. His infuriated parents hastily sent him to Dalaran with highs hopes, which were swiftly destroyed when it was discovered he managed to botch every opportunity presented there.

Unknown to most, Maldecai emotionally and mentally crushed his two heirs. He used every chance he could to verbally abuse Ranadarus and Rethsilius. During lectures, he'd refer to both as worthless and ashamed to be related to them. Mana starvation was a common tactic he utilized to break any willpower they built against his grip. Lord Sunspiral took particular delight in making them watch what happened to those that crossed him. It wasn't uncommon for a frightened servant to be executed on the spot for simple mistakes. He, above all, made it clear their lives belonged to him. Whatever freedom they enjoyed, he wished.

When it became apparent his second son would never be a well mannered Magister. The Head of House Sunspiral choose a much more dangerous path for him. For his blatant transgressions, he'd be forced to learn defending his life or die. He further enforced his decision by hiring various combat veterans. However, it wasn't to teach his two boys how to fight. No, it was another cruel form of punishment, especially to a young Rethsil. Their "teachers" took it on their shoulders to batter both on a daily basis. In addition, Maldecai purposely withheld payment on certain days. Such disrespect greatly angered battlehardened men and women to take out their frustrations on his children. Eventually (and thankfully), Ranadarus managed to be enrolled into a prominent Farstrider academy. As for the other...

Rethsilius found himself alone to face whatever brunt those jaded ruffians sought to deliver. In this time period, he learned to rely on his own strength and wits. Every day he'd be beaten half to death. Yet, he'd show up on the next looking for more. He began to study their movement, tactics, how they held weapons, guarded themselves. In his room, he'd practice what he witnessed. Primarily drilling attack patterns and defensive maneuvers for hours on end. By the time his bullies caught on, it was too late. He mercilessly broke their bones with strikes aimed at vital points. No one was there to save them, despite their cries. Just like none showed to help Rethsil. Leaving each crippled, useless, he dropped his weapon and left as if nothing happened.

For once, his stern father showed slight satisfaction. He allowed Rethsil to learn under renowed instructors. Albeit, there were more than a few reasons for Maldecai's quick change in attitude. If it was found out his youngest maimed several quel'dorei, there'd be a political scandal. In the meantime, Lord Sunspiral would..encourage...his former employees to remain silent.

((More to come!))
