History Before The Grim: Gazreeth was a traveling merchant buying passage on ships to travel Azeroth peddling his wares with his family. He made a fortune in replacing teeth for soldiers who were dentally challenged. So much that to keep with goblin fashion he gave himself a fullset of gold teeth. Most people think that is where he got his name, but they are wrong. He got that name from the fact that any deal that came through his teeth made him gold.
When he was young he invested in a mechanized merchant wagon. Not having a lot of coin he bought a junker. Good with words but not with a wrench he hired Gizet Widget to get it running. She fixed the cart and showed him a bill for 300g, now he knew he could negotiate for a cheaper deal, but for the first time he had something else in mind. He explained to her that if she forgave the debt he would show her the wonders of the world and a fortune unlike any she had ever witnessed. He believed in fair trade but he knew this one would be in his favor. They were married that day and began traveling.
They had many travels and went all over the world, during their travels they had their first child. Gaz was in the middle of a tooth replacement for the mayor of Darkshire, he had lost his tooth when a Gnome's mech misfired and ran into the mayor, when his Gizzy (that's what he called her) went into labor with their first "goblet". Gaz Jr was born. The humans were surprisingly helpful and happy. Then war began.
Keeping his hard stance on remaining neutral, Gaz took his wife and his son on the road to ensure he wouldn't see that some goblins would sell themselves so short that they would literally blow up for gold. He made sure to never sell weapons to anyone. Only tools, food, and teeth. While heading to the crossroads Gizzy forced him to make a long stop in Ratchet where she gave birth to Gizren. They traveled many years Gaz showing Jr the way of the trade, and Gizzy showed Lil'Giz the way of the wrench.
As the war went on Gazco, which at this time had Gaz as CEO and several employees, found itself staying more in horde territory than alliance. They began to notice in places they were once welcome they were treated poorly because they had the same skin color as orcs. Even the mayor of Darkshire started treating Gaz poorly. He refused to call him by his real name anymore and gave him a more "human" nickname. He began calling him Ickabod Gobsnout. Gaz taught his children that even though the Humans had become ignorant they could still make a profit from them. Then the plague began and Arthas found frostmourne.
News of the plague and knights of the undead had filled the world but Gaz was content in staying out of it all. On one of their refueling/restocking runs they stopped in ratched Lil'Giz, not so little now had been seeing a strapping young goblin named Darnax Cogwheel. Gaz knew it was a good match and Darnax made her happy so he approved of their marriage. Darnax knew how much family meant to Lil'Giz so he went on the road with them to learn the family trade and hopefully get their own Gazco wagon. Shortly after the wedding a messenger approached Gaz. It was a letter from the Mayor of Darkshire requesting Ickabod bring him some goblin rocket fuel, he was willing to pay triple the price. Blinded by profit he headed to Darkshire.
The Alliance had left Darkshire undefended. Gaz and his family pulled up and something felt wrong. The mayor came out greeted "Ickabod" and had an evil grin. The wagon was surrounded. They demanded everyone get out. Gaz knew what was about to happen would be something he couldn't talk his way out of. As the family stepped out of the wagon one of the townsfolk struck Gizzy, Gaz Jr pulled out a dagger and went after the human. A sword was run through his back. A guard threw his body outside of the town for the worgen to feast. Darnax was shocked at what he saw, he met Gaz's eyes and they nodded. He threw Lil'Giz in the wagon and pushed the throttle to the max. Human sharpshooters fired at the wagon hitting the rocket fuel. With a loud explosion there was nothing left. Gaz and Gizzy held one another for the last time before they were rendered unconscious.
Awoken from a fog Gaz felt different, he didn't know who or where he was. He heard a terrifying voice in his mind as he opened his eyes he saw that he was in a circular room, in the center were many people chained as death itself walked above them. A curios goblin woman was chained across from him. She was terrified and shouting. He couldn't hear he, just the voice in his head. A human man approached the female goblin. Unchained her, she was frozen in fear as he scoffed at her and ran her through with his blade. Gaz felt something inside of him, as if his own heart was just town out. He got a flash of his former life and whispered "Gizzy". Rage began to fester, the human approached him. He knew this human. Flashes of his life came to him, his wife, his children, their murders. The human began undoing Gaz's chains. He said to him "Rise Ickabod, you are my sacrifice, as was your wife, to show the Lich King I am worthy." Gaz who had never picked up a blade in his life, charged the mayor. Shocked the mayor was stunned. Gaz knocked the blade out of his hand picked it up and ran him through the stomach. He heard a voice in his head "Good goblin, continue what you have started, serve the Lich King and you will have your vengeance. Gaz knew a bad deal, and how to make the best of it. He knew the Lich King was originally human, and humans were weak enough to willingly serve. He agreed to serve. He knew he needed to comply in order to see his vengeance on all of humanity and those who support them.
In service of the Lich King he began to do more and more missions becoming a champion. One of his commanders gave him a special mission. It would seal his fate and fully give his soul to the Lich King. He was to go and execute a prisoner that was captured. Gaz entered a room only to see many prisoners, he wondered why he was to only kill one. He saw his quarry, prisoner number 7. Walking up he noticed 7 was a goblin, it was Darnax. Darnax horrified at gaz, but then relieved once he realized it was him. He pleaded for gaz to not let the Lich King control him. Gaz didn't know why the Lich King would have him kill one of his own, up to now he had only killed humans and he enjoyed that. Darnax told Gaz how much he loved Lil'Giz and revealed Gaz was soon to be a grandfather, and if he willingly submitted to the Lich King that his daughter, wife, and son could not rest at peace knowing he was mindlessly serving and killing anyone. Gaz paused as his commander started yelling at him wondering what is taking so long. Darnax looked at Gaz and said "Gaz, you are a goblin of worth. Use this curse, find the horde, wipe humanity off the face of this world. If they had never existed Lil'Giz would still be alive. Do not regret what you have to do to me. I do not blame you. Send me to her." Gaz looked at Darnax and nodded. At Gaz's request Darnax's final moment is being omitted to preserve his memory.
Gaz's final step in service to the Lich King was at the battle for Light's Hope Chapel. He fought along other Death Knights knowing this would be his moment to push the Lich King out of his mind. As he slaughtered many humans, other Death Knights turned on the Lich King and drove out his control. Gaz finally had broken free and sought out the warchief of the horde. A might troll who knew Gaz from his travels to the Echoe Isles. He listened to Gaz's story and welcomed him to the horde. He told him if he was looking for a fight that he could not assign him to a position in Orgrimmar, but told him of the deeds of The Grim. Gaz sought them out and finally found a home that would help him get rid of the filth that is humanity, and it's allies.
