Grim Application For Windcall
How did you hear about The Grim? Do you know anyone in The Grim?
-I used the Guild Search tool in-game. I found Grims description of roleplay enticing. Further reading proved Grim and the Grim Mandate to be an exciting form of gameplay that I thought WoW was lacking.
The forums are The Grim’s primary method of communication. Will you check them regularly (at least a few times a week)?
-Absolutely! Circumstance has put a lot of time on my hands. I have no qualms becoming a career player.
Tell us about your roleplaying experience. In WoW? Elsewhere? Do you consider yourself a heavy RPer? What does that mean to you?
-No experience in WoW. I do have a great deal of experience with fantasy RP in 'SecondLife' and 'Order and Chaos'
I love RP and immersing completely into the game. It's so much more fun!
The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild. Do you have any experience playing a character of this alignment or a character archetype that believes in structure with evil intent?
-In SecondLife, I was a member of a structured Lycan guild. We were considerably evil, but most of all we placed importance on our gatherings and meetings for organized attacks and raids.
Have you been part of any other guilds in World of Warcraft? If so, who were they and what server do or did they reside on? Let us know of your experience with them and what made you decide to either leave or continue to stay.
-I have a lvl 47 Dranei Paladin as my first character, but after leveling some and giving it a chance I decided it wasn't for me. I like dps more than being a healer. He is in another guild called 'DeathWynds'. I'm completely ditching that character and guild however, because neither have been satisfactory. The guild is very helpful but it's more "social network" than it is RP.
Are you applying on an alt (non-main) character? If so, what are you looking for here that you are not getting from your main character? If you are feeling honest or adventurous, please let us know who your main is.
-My first character is a Paladin named Titanfall. I don't consider him my main though. I've only been playing a few days but I've found that I don't enjoy playing him and will be deleting him soon. I'll reconsider after my interview though, if I'm told a healer would be helpful to The Grim.
What race and class is this character? Why did you choose this race and class?
-Titanfall is a Dranei Paladin, and was chosen because I have never played such before in any other game and thought it would be fun to try. It wasn't boring by any means, but a warrior or a mage is just more my style. I enjoy dps and tank. While healers are very important to the game, I generally have more fun wreaking havoc.
What are your expectations for your character after joining The Grim? What aspect of the game do you wish to focus on (raids, rated battlegrounds, arenas, challenge modes, achievements, etc.)?
-I understand that my new main character is very low-level right now. My expectations for The Grim are making this noobs gameplay much more enjoyable with an immersive gameplay with peers who are serious about it. At the moment, my main focus will be learning the many aspects of WoW. I want to level by questing and dungeons, learn about professions and abilities. Earn achievements as well. Later on, however, I expect to thoroughly enjoy pvp, raids, and advancing my career within the guild. Hopefully earning the rank of Officer at some point.
What is your PvE (player-versus-environment) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a raid environment? Do you have any PvE experience from other MMO games?
-I have experience in many other games beyond WoW, but I've found WoW to be insanely more fun! Like I mentioned before I enjoy dps and tanking. More than that though, I like immersing in the fantasy of being an Orc warrior, or a Blood Elf mage. They bring an otherworldly experience that I find incredibly intriguing.
What is your PvP (player-versus-player) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a PvP environment? Do you have any PvP experience in other MMO games?
-I have PvP experience in certain worlds of SecondLife and others. Mostly, as a noob, my WoW PvP experience has been fighting with random players met in-world. I think it's great fun! I enjoy the competitive spirit of it.
Did you read and understand our guidelines on character names, listed at the beginning of this application? (Please note, if your name does not fall within our guidelines and you do not want to do a name change, you are more than welcome to apply under a different character.)
-I understood completely, and I fully agree! It's hard to have any serious RP with someone named ^MagicMan42^. That is someone who would enjoy one of the "social network" guilds more than a serious RP guild.
How is your computer performance when playing World of Warcraft? What is your FPS/load times during heavy graphical or high population times? Is your internet connection stable?
-Keep in mind that I move in a month and will soon have much faster internet. Right now, I have satellite internet and there is slight lag in heavily populated or heavy graphical areas. This, so far, hasn't been much of a problem for me. Raids might be a different story, but by the time I'm level 100 I will have already moved back into civilization and have real internet again!
Provide an armory link to your character.
-I apologize, but I'm a total noob to WoW and I don't know how...
What days/times do you typically play this character?
-Everyday from around 2pm to 7am.
Have you read the Required Reading? Do you have any questions or concerns about anything there?
-I have, and my only questions deal in astonishment. Such as, "How did you come up with this amazing form of organization and regulation in RP? It's the best I've ever seen!" and "Being a very active and serious player, do I have an opportunity to move up within the ranks of the guild to a leadership role, given that I perform well enough?"
Have you read the Mandate? Do you have any questions or concerns about it? Can your character live by it?
-I greatly enjoyed reading "The Mandate". I love the trials and the structure of the guild and backstory connected to "The Mandate". My one concern is, what if I used my two attempts in a trial and didnt succeed. As a serious RP'er, but new to this particular game, I place a lot of importance in joining this particular guild because it's the only of it's kind. But also worry that being new to the game, I might not know enough about combat strategy to beat someone better than me..
Do you have anything further to add?
-This guild is one of a kind! The only one I could find that seemed tailor-suited to my style of MMO gameplay and RP. I even enjoy the application process being somewhat lengthy and so organized. It will weed out the players who won't actually take this seriously. The Grim seems to be for the elite RP'er and the career player. I really like that and hope to be a part of it!

What class/race/level is Windcall? That's the character you're applying with, right? You've only talked about your Draenai paladin, but that's an Alliance race, so that character cannot join a Horde guild.Windcall wrote:Are you applying on an alt (non-main) character? The Grim is over nine years old, so we've had lots of time, and input from lots of people, to come up with it and adjust it over the years. :)Windcall wrote:Have you read the Required Reading? Do you have any questions or concerns about anything there?

When there are officer openings, anyone the other officers feel would be a good fit, both for the open position and on the officer team in general, is given due consideration.
I would worry about that. If you are active, and if you are making timely attempts at your Trials, you won't have a problem passing them. Even the Trial of Combat is meant to be challenging, but doable for each character.Windcall wrote:Have you read the Mandate? Do you have any questions or concerns about it? Per the application instructions, please post a Letter of Intent, to give us an IC introduction to your character.
