Grim Application For Gomrak
How did you hear about The Grim? Do you know anyone in The Grim?
-I found out about The Grim through the Guild tab. As soon as I saw the description, I stopped looking at other guilds and began developing my character.
The forums are The Grim’s primary method of communication. Will you check them regularly (at least a few times a week)?
-I miss communicating over forums instead of Facebook! Of course I’ll check them
Tell us about your roleplaying experience. In WoW? Elsewhere? Do you consider yourself a heavy RPer? What does that mean to you?
-My ex and I would RP together although we were not on an RP realm. I was her overly faithful cult prophet, and she ((he)) was my psychotic demon-enslaving mistress And I have a degree in creative writing that collects dust, so I have experience putting my thoughts into someone else’s voice… at least on paper.
I also played Super Villains in DCU as a card-carrying member of the Legion of Doom. Yeah, the fees and pay-cuts that the Legion takes are high, but I wouldn’t have been able to pull off my grand schemes as Doctor Predacious without their support!
The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild. Do you have any experience playing a character of this alignment or a character archetype that believes in structure with evil intent?
-“THE BLOOD WILL FLOW UNTO THE CURSED CHALICE OF FABRONIA! ALL WILL WORSHIP HER DARKENED IMAGE!“ Lawful means we have a recognition for the need of order as laws are an agreed-to social contract. I think I could get it down. I am also experienced with RP’ing in DCU and SWTOR.
Have you been part of any other guilds in World of Warcraft? If so, who were they and what server do or did they reside on? Let us know of your experience with them and what made you decide to either leave or continue to stay.
-I’m a member of <Taint> on Proudmoore where I have been active 2007 based on if I had a subscription or not. I raided in various groups with them as well. I also had my own medium RP guild for a few months in 2009 that I was able to have another guild roll into. I miss that guild :3 I stayed on with <Taint> when I played SWTOR and FF 14.
Are you applying on an alt (non-main) character? If so, what are you looking for here that you are not getting from your main character? If you are feeling honest or adventurous, please let us know who your main is.
-My main is currently Snugglycub on Proudmoore where I played for the past few months on Alliance. I miss playing on PvP, I miss the escapism of RP’ing, and being in Alliance for a few months was enough. I’m ready to go back to the HORDE!
What race and class is this character? Why did you choose this race and class?
-Gomrak is an Orc Warrior. I thought exploring the emotional turmoil of a tragic Orc character who was once social and full of love but is now quiet and broken as a mean of mental survival would be an interesting challenge. I have a habit of playing tanks or healers, and it has been a while since I’ve played a warrior. Although I enjoy playing a shaman, I believe with the backstory that a warrior would be the most likely class he could fall back on.
What are your expectations for your character after joining The Grim? What aspect of the game do you wish to focus on (raids, rated battlegrounds, arenas, challenge modes, achievements, etc.)?
-Honestly, I want to explore Gomrak’s character and his unachievable quest for revenge with the one social sphere that can best aid him. I want to explore how it feels to wander into Draenor after searching Azeroth for his unobtainable MacGuffin as he tries to establish a legacy for his lost wife and attempt to somehow find closure against the Alliance that have wronged him. His goal is for the Alliance, collectively, to feel the pain he felt. He finds each victory against a common foe as glory and joy the Alliance will never have. He finds each Alliance he kills as a weakening of his perceived enemy. He blames the Alliance for his tragedy, although he constantly seeks “The man in blue.” I plan on raiding with light PvP, but honestly it is up to whatever Gomrak needs to achieve the unobtainable closure he seeks.
What is your PvE (player-versus-environment) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a raid environment? Do you have any PvE experience from other MMO games?
-I play tanks and healers. I played Sith tank and healer in SWTOR, played a WHM and WAR in FF14, and played a Fire-based villain in DCU.
What is your PvP (player-versus-player) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a PvP environment? Do you have any PvP experience in other MMO games?
- I love playing tanks and healers in structured PvP. I love the knowledge that rushing by myself as a tank into a group of people will slow them down as they all focus on me and my high defense instead of their objective. I love the frustration DPS gets with wondering why they aren’t killing me quick enough. As a healer, knowing that I am keeping the group going is a kick.
Did you read and understand our guidelines on character names, listed at the beginning of this application? (Please note, if your name does not fall within our guidelines and you do not want to do a name change, you are more than welcome to apply under a different character.)
-Yes. Yes I have.
How is your computer performance when playing World of Warcraft? What is your FPS/load times during heavy graphical or high population times? Is your internet connection stable?
-I play on maximum settings with a fantastic internet connection. My home is full of gamers that made sure we have a connection that satisfies all of our needs.
Provide an armory link to your character.
- Gomrak is currently unavailable to post.
What days/times do you typically play this character?
- As of this posting, this character is now my main. I usually have company over on Thursday/Friday/ and Saturday nights, but will be on most other times. I have a WoW addiction that I plan on doing nothing about.
Have you read the Required Reading? Do you have any questions or concerns about anything there?
-How often is the non-RP guild chat used?
Have you read the Mandate? Do you have any questions or concerns about it? Can your character live by it?
- He will live and “be defeated repeatedly" by the Mandate.
Do you have anything further to add?
Nothing beyond my excitement in exploring this character!
