(IC) What name or title do you go by?
—Saintsblood. Whatever true name I once possessed fell to nothing with the destruction of the Stormreaver Clan.
(IC) What is your gender and race?
—Orc male.
(IC) What is your class in life? Why did you choose to follow this class?
—I am a demonologist, a follower of the practices of Gul’dan. The study of demons is the true path to power—control the Twisting Nether, and you control a force to rip apart worlds.
(IC) How many "Honorable" Kills do the Battlemasters currently have recorded for you?
—Few of my kills would be considered “honorable” by the battlemasters of the current generation of the Horde. I served under Warchief Blackhand during the First War, and earned my name under Cho’gall at Northshire Abbey between the First and Second wars. You could ask their Battlemasters, though I suppose they have long since perished at the hands of the Alliance.
(IC) What drives you in life? How would the Grim benefit from having you among its ranks?
—I wish to see the Orcs rise to their former glory, to restore the Horde to the pinnacle of strength it once knew, before the foolish betrayal of Gul’dan, and Doomhammer’s senseless slaughter of the Stormreaver and Twilight’s Hammer clans. Mostly, however, I wish to be allowed to continue my practices as a warlock, a service that afforded me endless recognition under the true Warchiefs. The Grim seems to be as close to the organizations of the past as exists on Azeroth today, and I feel it is time to shed my isolation and rejoin the fight against the high-minded fools of the Alliance. If I am accepted, I will bring all the subjugated might of the Twisting Nether to bear against the Alliance, and in such a manner as to make Orcs the master over demons, and not the other way around.
(IC) What did you do prior to The Grim?
—What didn’t I do? On Draenor, before the imbibing of the Demon’s blood, I was a shaman in the Shadowmoon Valley under Ner’zhul and his apprentice, Gul’dan. When Gul’dan wrought his betrayal against Ner’zhul, I was among the first to join him and receive the Demon’s Blessing. Under Gul’dan, I recognized true power the likes of which the Ancients would never have granted us, and the destiny of the Horde was revealed in all of its splendor. When the Dark Portal opened, I led a cabal of warlocks and necrolytes through. We participated in the sacking of Stormwind City, and I personally aided in the extermination of the Brotherhood of Clerics in Northshire Abbey. Naturally, I was a founding member of the Shadow Council and Gul’dan’s own Stormreaver Clan, but my allegiance lay with myself, never Gul’dan. He was power-hungry in a way the shames even me, and yet he was the authority behind which the Horde aligned in the days of its greatest glory. When Blackhand was slain and the Shadow Council slaughtered by the new Warchief, Doomhammer, I fled to Gul’dan’s side and aided him in the creation of the first Death Knights. Ever did our eyes turn westward, however, toward the source of demonic power that the Council had been founded to attain in the first place.
When the time came, I followed Gul’dan to the Tomb of Sargeras and plumbed its demon-haunted depths, witnessing the obliteration of my clan at the burning claws of demons and the raging axes of Doomhammer’s Horde. Rather than seeing myself impaled as a traitor and left to rot amidst the crumbling ruins of Azshara’s city, I fled. In the end, I arrived in the Swamp of Sorrows where I took up residence, and have lived until the destruction wrought by the Cataclysm and the renewed presence of the Alliance in my home.
(IC) What are your thoughts of the new direction the Horde has taken since the Cataclysm?
—I approve. The new Warchief is a fool, to be sure, but that is the value of a Warchief. They are to be malleable, but to possess the strength of their ancestors. Garrosh has within him the spirit of the Orc, once embodied by Blackhand and Doomhammer. Thrall was a coward, only interested in pandering to the Alliance and scraping past so as not to offend his new friends. To think that he led the Orcs into battle alongside the humans in the Third War sickens me. The new Warchief may lack the leadership of Blackhand, but he possesses his Hellscream’s fiery will, and that brings to mind visions of the true Horde. I will follow him, though my time in the forefront of the Horde is long-since spent.
(OOC) The Grim is a role-playing guild that requires full immersion (heavy RP) of their members. What does that mean to you?
—This means that I will be able to be surrounded by like-minded people who are just as interested in world building as I am. I have always loved RP, but I’ve never had a chance to fully immerse myself as I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
(OOC) The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild, ruled by a structure with the intent to see the complete annihilation of their enemies. Does this definition conflict with how you want to play your character? If it does, how do you expect to handle the conflict with other members?
—I wouldn’t consider Saintsblood to be Lawful Evil by any means. He straddles the line between Neutral Evil and Chaotic, but his long experience with Gul’dan and the Shadow Council, and his subsequent self-banishment after Gul’dan’s death, have taught him the value of a unified body working to achieve a singular goal. He keeps his own council, but he would never allow his personal objections get in the way of increasing the power of those he serves.
(OOC) What sort of role-playing experience do you have, online or off-line? Do you consider yourself a beginner or Gary Gygax?
—I started role-playing many years ago on Shadow Council, before the advent of RPPVP realms. For the most part, unfortunately, the people I played with at home had no interest in RP, so I never jumped in as much as I wanted to. A year or so ago, I started playing again on the Emerald Dream, and rediscovered how much I loved RP. Now, although I wouldn’t say I’m a veteran RPer, I am ready to dive in like never before.
(OOC) Is this character a server-transfer or has it been renamed recently? If so, what was your previous server and/or in-game name?
—I have moved my Blood Elf mage (Kybera) onto this server from the Emerald Dream in the hopes of finding an RPPVP home for my Horde characters, although I wish for Saintsblood to be my main on the Twisting Nether.
(OOC) What are you, the player, looking for in the Grim? What are your expectations of the guild?
—I am looking for a place to experience true role-playing, where my decisions as a character have weight and consequences. The Grim offers an opportunity to express the resentment felt by the older generation of the Horde (the one I fell in love with in Warcraft I and II) toward the Horde’s new incarnation under Thrall, as well as a chance to battle the Alliance alongside people who understand their duplicitousness and will no longer abide them.
(OOC) When joining the Grim, each new applicant will be matched up with someone to help them get into the swing of being Grim. In order to coordinate this, we will need to have a fair approximation of your play schedule. Please give a general outline below, OR if you wish to keep it private, send a PM to Ashenfury.
—I am attending college at UC Santa Barbara, and as such my only dedicated play-time will be on the weekends. I may be online sporadically through the week, but I will be available for certain most hours of the weekend. During midterms and finals, I will not be on as much, however.
(OOC) Please provide an armory link to your character for verification.

(IC/OOC) Do you have anything further to add?
(IC) I will bring about the rebirth of the True Horde with the knowledge of our slain heroes, who were wise enough to embrace the power offered by the demons of the Twisting Nether. The annihilation I will wreak upon the Alliance will be bathed in the lurid glow of hellfire and wrapped in deepest shadow. I will bring back the supremacy of the Horde, or I will die in the attempt. My isolation is at an end, and by the Skull of Gul’dan, I will help The Grim achieve their peace through annihilation if they but allow me a place in their ranks.
