Kalair

(IC) What name or title do you go by?
Kalair. Ka-lair. There’s a real emphasis on the ‘ka’ part – y’gotta really hack it out. Try it with me: Ka-lair. KA-lair! KAW-hrrk – hrrrak – hawwk –!
... We’ll – uh... we’ll work on that. And it’s one name only; I have trouble enough making you people say it right as is without getting everyone on board with a ‘surname’.
(IC) What is your gender and race?
Hey now, if you can’t tell a lady when you see one, then either those Forsaken boys’ve been walking out of their crypts with a little less than a lower jaw and not telling, or you’re all in sore need of a learning in what a goblin with class looks like. ‘Course, I did just spend a few seconds trying to get you all to hack out my name. We’re gonna put a raincheck on that learning ‘til I can get a better teacher in for you. Okay? Good? I’ll get you coupons – 10% off (after three semesters’ purchase, we reserve the right to jack the prices right the hell up and they’re probably expired by now anyway) if you just mention my name. Hey! Say it right.
(IC) What is your class in life? Why did you choose to follow this class?
I’m a warlock: the best class in town! You want annihilation? Honey, I’ve got three words for you: affliction, demonology, and destruction. That’s my speciality. Double-speccing, of course! No warlock worth their weight’s ever satisfied with just one way to kill ya.
(IC) How many "Honorable" Kills do the Battlemasters currently have recorded for you?
1,000,000! And until you people figure how to triple-check that, I’m gonna stick with that story ‘til – wha? ... Oh – you... can check that? ... Well – uh... I’m... uh... I’m sure it’s just a glitch. Sometimes those records get a little criss-crossed – they’ve got a lot of names to take care of! You – uh... come back in a few months and I’ll make sure that’s all cleared up for you. Geez – y’know, you’re lucky I’m so helpful and willing to donate my time to fix what’s obviously an error on your end. I guess that’s just my forgiving nature. It’s practically a curse on its own!
(IC) What drives you in life? How would the Grim benefit from having you among its ranks?
So I’ve got a little damage complex. Unless I’m the one flipping more corpses into ash than everyone else I’m working with, I’m not happy. Trouble is, sometimes the searing takes my attention away. I forget you gotta get the armour to go with it. Drives me crazy, these little things! I figure with a group like Grim, always pushing me to knock out a few Allys – for the greater good of peace, of course, and for the record, by ‘knock out’, I mean ‘kill’ – I’ll be forced to keep up with those little things. You watch. I’ll the best soul-catcher you folks’ve ever seen. And the cutest! Well – the cutest under four feet.
(IC) What did you do prior to The Grim?
Mulled around with a few other brutes. Nothing special, nothing fancy, nothing really worth bringing up... but if anyone asks, you whack ‘em in the head and paint ‘em blue, alright? These other goblins – you break one tiny bomb and suddenly it’s no good knowing the thing works?! Anyway, if they ask, tell ‘em I’m exactly somewhere else and they just missed me.
(IC) What are your thoughts of the new direction the Horde has taken since the Cataclysm?
Oh geez, someone slipped me an old test. See – I was cramming for that other question, the thing about Thrall’s truce or whatever? I got a killer answer for it, too! I was gonna say ‘great! It’s awesome! Nothing like a truce to get you the element of surprise! You’d think a ticking present’s worth returning back to sender, but when it’s a peace-offering, oh no, you gotta bring that into the city and open it up!’ But now I’ve gotta think about some other thing? You guys don’t make this easy. Let’s just say it’s all good, goblins are fightin’ the good fight, but clearly it’s not enough of a ‘direction’ if I’m still tripping over gnomes every two minutes. They couldn’t think to make rockets?! Then the Horde made a good choice picking us up. Dumb gnomes. Explosions? You’re covered.
(OOC) The Grim is a role-playing guild that requires full immersion (heavy RP) of their members. What does that mean to you?
I’m going to be an idiot and use the question as my answer: to me, it means full immersion. All chat is IC chat, no chat is OOC chat (barring some exceptions that were explained in your rules). Every person in the guild, no matter what they’re like IRL, is playing as their character. The relationships I expect to build with them are going to be based on how my character gets along with theirs – and then eventually (hopefully) I’ll be able to stand back as a writer and respect them on the basis of their talent. Essentially, I’m here to role-play and so is everyone else, so if I don’t get in the way, then everything will be fine.
(OOC) The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild, ruled by a structure with the intent to see the complete annihilation of their enemies. Does this definition conflict with how you want to play your character? If it does, how do you expect to handle the conflict with other members?
I don’t see it as a conflict. I imagine Kalair to be someone very interested in the ‘annihilation’ part and taking her time before she truly takes in the ‘it’s for peace’ way of thinking. To her, this is more fun than anything, and because she’s got no problem paying lip-service to anyone who asks whether she supports the core ideals, her enthusiasm in dealing damage is (hopefully!) more than likely something to be applauded.
(OOC) What sort of role-playing experience do you have, online or off-line? Do you consider yourself a beginner or Gary Gygax?
Tons of experience. I’ll mention DnD as an aside because I’ve only played for two years and I’ve never actually gone into the lore of the world (same with WoW, unfortunately; I’m missing out on a lot of rich history and almost everything I write is based on in-game interactions). However, I’ve been involved in play-by-post roleplaying since I was thirteen. This is going to be a switch for me. Because it’s going to be in guild chat, it’ll be a much more rapid-fire way of doing things than I’m used to, but as far as telling a story goes, I know how to do that. Plus: grammar!
(OOC) Is this character a server-transfer or has it been renamed recently? If so, what was your previous server and/or in-game name?
It’s new.
(OOC) What are you, the player, looking for in the Grim? What are your expectations of the guild?
I’m definitely looking for roleplaying and fun of getting involved in community storylines. I’m extremely big on PvE, not so much on PvP but I’m trying. I picked Twisting Nether because I was tired of flying through the Outlands, landing in front of someone else and trying to kill them with the limited PvP skills I have, then spending five minutes having the game scream at me because they weren’t flagged. It broke some of the realism. I like the war between Alliance and Horde and I’m excited to be in a group that encourages it.
(OOC) When joining the Grim, each new applicant will be matched up with someone to help them get into the swing of being Grim. In order to coordinate this, we will need to have a fair approximation of your play schedule. Please give a general outline below, OR if you wish to keep it private, send a PM to Ashenfury.
Weekends – most of it – and maybe most times after 9 pm. I have very odd hours and a bunch of courses and studying to keep up with, plus my play-by-post RPs, so I have a bit of a ‘I’m always on! :D Wait, no, not right now’ system. Nights, though, definitely. I’m an owl.
(OOC) Please provide an armory link to your character for verification.

(IC/OOC) Do you have anything further to add?
*ahem* You’ll notice the... um... vaguely... low level that she is... That’s because she’s a new character and I’m really banking on your blurb about ‘relaxing the level requirements because there’s goblins around now’. And I’m hoping you’re super lenient about that. But if that’s the only thing holding me back, her level, then just think of this as a pre-emptive application. I’m honestly getting ahead of myself, applying before I’m even level 60. For what it’s worth, I do have a level 85 character:

I don’t know if this’ll affect your opinion any, but at least now you know I’m good for it (levelling all the way, then gearing some).
And – uhhhhhhhh... despite all my creativity, I’m just gonna shoehorn this in ‘cause I can’t think of a bettePEACE THROUGH ANNIHILATION!!!!
Aw yeah. That felt nice to type.
