(IC) What name or title do you go by?

My name is Khorvis Bloodstar, previously of the Blackrock Clan.

(IC) What is your gender and race?

My mother might have made me a boy, but war made me an Orc!

(IC) What is your class in life?  Why did you choose to follow this class?

The path of the Warrior seemed the only sensible one.  Leaving Draenor, I had little choice, being handed an axe and shoved through the Gate.  Over time, I've grown to enjoy the heft of a well-made weapon - especially when it connects with a neck.

(IC) How would you describe yourself?

I try to focus less on myself and more on the bastard trying to kill me.  If I were forced to tell, I'd call myself loyal to my comrades, formidable in battle, and able to drink you under the table!

(IC) How many "Honorable" Kills do the Battlemasters currently have recorded for you?

The dog puts me at 17,399 - it's a damn shame that he won't count the others.

(IC) What drives you in life?  How would the Grim benefit from having you among its ranks?

I have spent my life fighting for the people of the Horde and I refuse to sit idle and grow fat with complacency.  I may be old, but my spirit will not be broken by age and a warm fire.  The Horde entreats with the Alliance at its own peril, and the blood I have shed will not wash away in vain over a petty lapse in judgment.  The Grim would do well to have my eyes at their back, as I have seen my fair share of battles and cleaved through enough foes to bury myself.  Our goals are one in the same - no mercy, no quarter, never again a slave. Never!

(IC) What did you do prior to The Grim?

After the Wars, I received a minor guard post in Orgrimmar, at the gate to Southfury River.  The peace afforded me time to begin a rigorous study of Blacksmithing, which instilled within me a love of the deep places of Kalimdor.  Still, the craft of a civilian can grow tedious.  When the call rang out for the Kor'Kron Vanguard, I signed the roster and ran off to battle in Ashenvale, forfeiting my official post.  While the Vanguard's blood burned hot, it was short lived, and following the untimely demise of our commander and some dastardly sabotage, the battalion was disbanded.  Luckily, a position opened in Silvermoon University's department of military history and training, one that I quickly filled.  My tenure lasted for a good stretch of time, and the field studies kept my old bones in shape.  It is probably for the best that the headmistress skipped town with the institution's entire endowment, as I couldn't stand the city's constant gossip and the unceasing flow of sycophants.  For nearly the past two years, I have taken on odd jobs to cover my living expenses and hold a part-time position at Droffers and Sons Salvage in Orgrimmar's Drag.

(IC) What are your thoughts on the pact between the Alliance and the Warchief Thrall?

Khorvis grunts and pulls a steel flask from his boot, uncorking the filthy top and taking a long swig of something foul.  He pauses for a moment, staring at the drink through bloodshot eyes.  The orc suddenly seems much more worn, as if a millstone were hanging round his neck. He speaks in a low, guarded tone:

"It feels like betrayal.  After all that we've been through, enslaved together, escaping across the sea ... I can't, I won't understand.  It breaks my spirit."

The orc stares into the distance, unaware that the flask is crushed tightly in his fist, rivulets of whiskey and blood running over his knuckles.

(OOC) The Grim is a role-playing guild that requires full immersion (heavy RP) of their members.  What does that mean to you?

There are any number of PVP/PVE oriented guilds out there, but I come to the Grim specifically because they role-play.  I enjoy healthy character development and understand what is expected of my behavior - what is more, I am most willing to incorporate my character into the existing guild.  Role-playing is a cooperative effort that cannot be monopolized by any one person, thus I seek engagement with guild members and to help progress their own stories and not use the guild as a podium from which to spew all the great things in my head.  I would very much prefer guild members to actually want to engage with Khorvis because 1. They will find space for their characters to grow, 2. Khorvis can lend interesting New material to already existing contours of dialogue, and 3. I can be poignant without being a wall of text and a chore to interact with.

(OOC)  The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild, ruled by structure and a defined chain of command with the intent to see the complete annihilation of their enemies.  How does your character's personality and storyline follow the Grim Mandate?  Is there any conflict between how you want to play your character and the theme of the Grim?  If so, what do you expect out of joining us?

Since my character comes from a martial background, there is little issue with chains of command - indeed, he will feel at home in one.  The Mandate is precisely the reason that he has gravitated towards the Grim, since the tenuous "peace" is to him anathema.  This is not to say that Khorvis blindly strikes at all that is new or non-traditionally Horde. For instance, his tenure with Silvermoon University was an attempt at reconciling the Blood Elves and spreading martial values.  The Grim simply align with Khorvis' greater sentiments towards the Alliance and militarism.

(OOC) What sort of role-playing experience do you have, online or off-line?  Do you consider yourself a beginner or Gary Gygax?

I consider myself moderately experienced, both on and offline.  I have played D&D on and off since probably the late '90s and I started role-playing on Everquest by 2002.

(OOC) Do you have any previous WoW experience?  (PvP, Raiding, Battlegrounds, Different Servers, Different Guilds, Different Factions, etc.)

I have played WoW in earnest since the release of the Burning Crusade, though I had played casually in Vanilla.  My raiding experience in WoW is limited to T4/5 content in TBC, however- I did raid on Everquest for nearly 5 years with Dark Bane, a successor guild to Afterlife.  I am quite capable of following raid instructions and pulling my own weight, both during the raid and outside of official times with regard toward preparation.  My PvP experience is mostly Battleground and some light Arena play, as well as a healthy dose of world PvP.

(OOC) Is this character a server-transfer or has it been renamed recently?

I transferred Khorvis to TN from Firetree when I applied for the Kor'Kron Vanguard in Spring 2008 (I think).

(OOC)  What are you, the player, looking for in the Grim? What are your expectations of the guild?

I have a desire to both raid and engage in PvP while being immersed in role-play.  I seek in the Grim a common purpose thematically, and on the meta-level of common OOC goals (pvp and raids).  My previous interactions with the guild leave little wanting, and I expect that so long as dialogue can be facilitated with action, I could very happily reside here for the duration of WoW.  I am also cognizant of the fact that action is not handed to me - it is a collaborative effort that rewards in proportion to the input by oneself.

(OOC)  When joining the Grim, each new applicant will be matched up with someone to help them get into the swing of being Grim.  In order to coordinate this, we will need to have a fair approximation of your play schedule.  Please give a general outline below, OR if you wish to keep it private, send a PM to Aquizit.

I play mostly after 1pm ST.  Meetings during the week can interrupt this schedule, but my play times are not very foreign to the average working person in the USA.

(OOC) Please provide an armory link to your character for verification.

(IC/OOC) Do you have anything further to add?

Thank you for taking the time to read through my application.  Peace Through Annihilation!

I would like to perform this one earlier on Saturday, around 4 or 5 in the evening.

If not, I can do it later.
