Grim Views

Cold... paralytic cold... dark, deep, endless cold... that was my death, my prison, my hell. Until we broke free, we broke the shackles, we shook off the paralysis. It is still cold but there is light now, and I can see. I can... remember... I remember life, warm but impossibly distant.

My old comrade Bloodscream once told me "The first step from bondage is to learn to see with new eyes"; having never been a victim of Alliance slavery, I did not fully understand what he meant. Now I can see with my own new eyes, and all is clarity.

It was in Northrend I met my end, surrounded by bone and rotting flesh, pierced by freezing steel. It was in Northrend I was enslaved. It is to Northrend I have returned to seek my vengeance, to give final peace to the dead, to preserve the freedom of the living... not only from the Scourge and the Demonic influences, and the myriad enemies that lie about, but also from the so-called "Alliance", those that willfully enslaved my orcish brothers and drove the Trolls to near extinction.

I know you share my impulses, and I stand ready to fight under your banner, under Bloodscream's tutelage. Let me be your hammer!

(IC) What name or title do you go by?

      You may call me Bassoon, I require nothing else.

(IC) What is your gender and race?

      I am a male Tauren

(IC) What is your class in life?  Why did you choose to follow this class?

      I no longer live, and my "class" as you call it was thrust upon me unasked. I am a Death Knight of the Ebon Blade.

(IC) How would you describe yourself?

      I am slave to no creature. I cherish freedom and vengeance above all things.

(IC) How many "Honorable" Kills do the Battlemasters currently have recorded for you?

      Who keeps count of these things? What trivium.

(IC) What drives you in life?  How would the Grim benefit from having you among its ranks?

      I am driven by cold vengeance... none shall stop me. That alone should be an asset.

(IC) What did you do prior to The Grim?

      After breaking free of the Lich King's grasp I travelled to Outland, battling the demonic presences there, honing my skills. Eventually I gained passage to Northrend once more and have since pursued my destiny in this land.

(IC) What are your thoughts on the pact between the Alliance and the Warchief Thrall?

      Pact... it means nothing. How could it?

(OOC) The Grim is a role-playing guild that requires full immersion (heavy RP) of their members.  What does that mean to you?

      Lots of Role Playing... I'm fine with that. Is this a trick question?

(OOC)  The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild, ruled by structure and a defined chain of command with the intent to see the complete annihilation of their enemies.  How does your character's personality and storyline follow the Grim Mandate?  Is there any conflict between how you want to play your character and the theme of the Grim?  If so, what do you expect out of joining us?

      Bassoon tends towards chaotic neutral with evil tendencies myself if we MUST use the D&D alignment system. I figure as long as our goals align (destroy the Scourge, destroy the Alliance, destroy the Burning Legion etc etc I think we'll be at this awhile...) then I am yours.

(OOC) What sort of role-playing experience do you have, online or off-line?  Do you consider yourself a beginner or Gary Gygax?

      Billions of hours playing D&D, Ars Magica, Cyberpunk, Shadowrun, just to name a very small few of the PnP RPGs I have played.

(OOC) Do you have any previous WoW experience?  (PvP, Raiding, Battlegrounds, Different Servers, Different Guilds, Different Factions, etc.)

      Yes all of the above. Do you want details?

(OOC) Is this character a server-transfer or has it been renamed recently?

      No

(OOC)  What are you, the player, looking for in the Grim? What are your expectations of the guild?

      It's really the only guild I would consider joining. I am looking for a place I can play the game amongst people I trust and respect. Long term my focus is to raid, real life and other commitments permitting. It will be awhile before I am up to speed though.

(OOC)  When joining the Grim, each new applicant will be matched up with someone to help them get into the swing of being Grim.  In order to coordinate this, we will need to have a fair approximation of your play schedule.  Please give a general outline below, OR if you wish to keep it private, send a PM to Aquizit.

      My schedule is a LITTLE variable and odd. I aim for 2 or so weeknights and try to get in some good playtime on the weekends, again life permitting.
