Araun

Unread post by Araun »

(IC) What name or title do you go by?
      - Araun.  It's very simple; five letters.  Three of them are vowels.

(IC) What is your gender and race?
      - Male sin'dorei.

(IC) What is your class in life?  Why did you choose to follow this class?
      - Call me a priest, a doomsayer, a prophet.  I did not choose this, it has chosen me - but I embrace it.

(IC) How would you describe yourself?
      - At the end of the world, the beast of the apocalypse thunders across icy plains on a hundred feet.  Standing on its head, clinging to its horns, is a man.  He stares up at the stars frozen in the sky of the endless fimbulwinter - there are so few stars now, and the night only gets darker - and he knows, as he has always known, where the beast is going.

(IC) What drives you in life?  How would the Grim benefit from having you among its ranks?
      - You will kill gods.  This will happen whether I am with you or not, but I have dreamed of this day since before there was a Grim.  If you allow it, I will walk with you into the fires at the end of the world.  If you do not, I will be there waiting for you.
Should you take me with you, we will devour any enemies we meet along the way.  You will find - many of you already know - that I am useful in a fight.

(IC) What did you do prior to The Grim?
      - I waited.  There are many things I did, but they are not important, because the truth is: I waited.

(IC) What are your thoughts on the pact between the Alliance and the Warchief Thrall?
      - A veil, drawn over the face of a dead woman.  It is there so we do not have to look at her, but it changes nothing.

(OOC) The Grim is a role-playing guild that requires full immersion (heavy RP) of their members.  What does that mean to you?
      - It means repeatedly jumping whenever Abric walks onto the screen.  Er - I mean, for Araun, it mostly means saying unsettling things at the drop of a hat.

(OOC)  The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild, ruled by structure and a defined chain of command with the intent to see the complete annihilation of their enemies.  How does your character's personality and storyline follow the Grim Mandate?  Is there any conflict between how you want to play your character and the theme of the Grim?  If so, what do you expect out of you joining?
      - Araun has a bit of a trickster streak in him, but he's spent the last 20 years in a very ordered environment, so The Grim is nothing new to him.  The goal is that he will creep people out, and people will constantly suspect his true intentions.  Sometimes he says things that are real, and sometimes he is just screwing with your head.
Murdering scores of Alliance?  He won't even blink.  The trickster streak is kind of dwarfed by the psychopathic streak.

(OOC) What sort of role-playing experience do you have, online or off-line?  Do you consider yourself a beginner or Gary Gygax?
      - I taught Gary Gygax everything he knows.  He felt I was too harsh, so he wrote The Tomb of Horrors as a casual adventure for his players.  And so the dumbing-down of RPGs began.
This is only slightly a lie, I did in fact used to run a dungeon aptly-named Sudden Death.  Had a few players log out in disgust after they got stamped to death or eaten by dragon hatchlings, although everyone else seemed to get the joke.  Most memorable line: "Dinnae worry lad, it cannae be REEEL acid!"
(It was.)

(OOC) Do you have any previous WoW experience?  (PvP, Raiding, Battlegrounds, Different Servers, Different Guilds, Different Factions, etc.)
      - I was in this guild called "The Grim", I don't know if you've heard of them...

(OOC)  What are you, the player, looking for in the Grim? What are your expectations of the guild?
      - I wish to crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentations of the women.

(OOC)  When joining the Grim, each new applicant will be matched up with someone to help them get into the swing of being Grim.  In order to coordinate this, we will need to have a fair approximation of your play schedule.  Please give a general outline below, OR send a PM to all (not just one) of the following members: Acherontia, Nymare, Tecunuman
      - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons.

(IC/OOC) Do you have anything further to add?
      - Gul'kaft an'shel; peace through annihilation.

He answered the first question incorrectly, by omitting the first word. This does not bode well.
Grisbault, Twice-Made.
The p, s, l, and t are silent, the screams are not.

Perhaps the "The" is silent?  You're right, though.  This is an enormous inconsistency.

An odd fellow perhaps, but a very reliable killer.

His intentions certainly seem clear enough, but ... from my experiences, there seems to be much more to it than that. Of what that is, I can't even begin to guess.

Well, since there are no obvious objections - you know where to find us and when.  We'll speak further this Sunday.
