Grim Application For Vyalis

How did you hear about The Grim? Do you know anyone in The Grim?
- Saw members in game at one point and looked into the guild a little bit online. It seemed to fit my gaming style.

The forums are The Grim’s primary method of communication. Will you check them regularly (at least a few times a week)?
- Yes.

Tell us about your roleplaying experience. In WoW? Elsewhere? Do you consider yourself a heavy RPer? What does that mean to you?
- I don’t have much official roleplaying experience when it comes to WoW specifically, though I have a fair deal outside of the game. I’ve played Dungeons and Dragons/ Pathfinder since I was little, and tend to always roleplay any game that I play, either with other players or just in my mind. My most recent multiplayer roleplay experience was (amusingly enough) in Minecraft. I learned a good deal about how the interactions work, but I was missing some visual immersion whenever I would play that way. This is what has drawn me to WoW rp.

The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild. Do you have any experience playing a character of this alignment or a character archetype that believes in structure with evil intent?
- Sure, I almost always align myself with rogue classes in RP games, and I find that this alignment often goes hand in hand with the class play-style.

Have you been part of any other guilds in World of Warcraft? If so, who were they and what server do or did they reside on? Let us know of your experience with them and what made you decide to either leave or continue to stay.
- Yes, I’ve been a part of a guild called <Ørca> for about 2 weeks now, though I’ve found it to be a little underwhelming as far as the community aspect is concerned. I recently joined back to WoW after leaving during the WotLK days, and have still been trying to find the right group of people to set up with.

Are you applying on an alt (non-main) character? If so, what are you looking for here that you are not getting from your main character? If you are feeling honest or adventurous, please let us know who your main is.
- I hope to apply with two characters. The first is my main Vyalis, and the second is my alt Jalbert. (level 36 at the moment)

What race and class is this character? Why did you choose this race and class?
-Vyalis is a blood elf rogue. I find blood elves speak to me because they share many human characteristics, though they have enough differences that they are interesting. As I mentioned above, I chose a rogue because it is my general play style in most RPs.

My alt, Jalbert, is meant to be an RP challenge for me. I’ve found that trolls are tricky to find immersion with, and the same goes for druids. Both of these traits will be challenging for me to sell completely, but I find that very intriguing. For this reason, I will be applying with my main account first, and once I get my sea legs, I’ll start venturing into more uncomfortable territory.

What are your expectations for your character after joining The Grim? What aspect of the game do you wish to focus on (raids, rated battlegrounds, arenas, challenge modes, achievements, etc.)?
- Vyalis— I hope to do a great deal of PvP, such as battlegrounds, arenas, and world PvP. Though I will be willing to look into other stuff as well, such as achievements and more, I usually stick to Horde vs. Alliance content.

What is your PvE (player-versus-environment) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a raid environment? Do you have any PvE experience from other MMO games?
-Very little. I have often found raiding and PvE content a bit boring, and I know that it is highly competitive in it’s own way, so I generally try to just stay in my lane and do PvP content.

What is your PvP (player-versus-player) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a PvP environment? Do you have any PvP experience in other MMO games?
- I’ve been doing PvP since Burning Crusade, and love it a great deal. The unpredictable human element is something that I haven’t found in PvE content. Although I’m a bit frustrated with the way PvP progression is structured at the moment, I still enjoy the competitive spirit in battlegrounds and (especially) arenas.

Did you read and understand our guidelines on character names, listed at the beginning of this application? (Please note, if your name does not fall within our guidelines and you do not want to do a name change, you are more than welcome to apply under a different character.)
- So, I’ve been made fun of before for my game generated name. Apparently it’s the same name as a brand of male enhancement drugs… HOWEVER— to my shame, this made me decide years ago that it would be pronounced vee-ah-lis instead. Hopefully that’s not a big deal, but let me know if it is.

How is your computer performance when playing World of Warcraft? What is your FPS/load times during heavy graphical or high population times? Is your internet connection stable?
- Good performance almost all the time. Sometimes EXTREME situations can cause my fps to drop, but it’s always playable. And my internet connection is fast + reliable.

Provide an armory link to your character.

What days/times do you typically play this character?
- Every day in the evenings (NOTE: France time, which is 7 hours ahead of Central US time). Generally starting at about 5 pm until 12 am (10 am- 5pm Central time)

Have you read the Required Reading? Do you have any questions or concerns about anything there?
- Yes, and no I don’t have anything to add.

Have you read the Mandate? Do you have any questions or concerns about it? Can your character live by it?
- Yes, I have read it. And I have no questions or concerns either. I think it will work very well with my character's identity.

Do you have anything further to add?
- No.
