Grim Application For <Aderlee>
How did you hear about The Grim? Do you know anyone in The Grim?
- I haven't RP'd full time on the horde since Pandaria began and before connected realms, so my first experience with The Grim was being ganked a few times in Tanaan Jungle while I was on my main character, Tayissa ( good job btw ;) I don't consider myself an easy target ). I started to recognize the guild name over the weeks from getting attacked and OOC chat on the alliance, and I eventually starting RPing with some of you when I returned to RP on the horde. I do not know anyone OOCly from The Grim IRL.
The forums are The Grim’s primary method of communication. Will you check them regularly (at least a few times a week)?
- Sure, it's now a bookmark so I will check in often.
Tell us about your roleplaying experience. In WoW? Elsewhere? Do you consider yourself a heavy RPer? What does that mean to you?
- My original server was Detheroc, so I didn't RP for the first year or so I played WoW. One of my friends asked me to roll a character on Ravenholdt so I made my first character that I RP'd, Matthias the Deathstalker, and have been roleplaying all my characters since then, roughly late 2009. In other MMOs, I've RP'd in Warhammer Online and Star Wars The Old Republic. Outside of MMOs, I've consistently played in a DnD group for the past 10 years and am currently taking my turn to DM the current campaign. All of our adventures involve lots of roleplay, and I consider it a very important aspect to my gaming. I don't consider myself a heavy RPer because I interpret that as someone who is in character 100% of the time, roleplay walks/rides everywhere they go, and 100% of their actions are in character. Sometimes I need to fly around and do things OOC, so I don't consider myself as a heavy RPer, but I always prioritize RP over everything else and make an effort to role play every day I log in to play, though that doesn't mean I role play every character I log into every day.
The Grim are considered a Lawful Evil guild. Do you have any experience playing a character of this alignment or a character archetype that believes in structure with evil intent?
- Yes, the first guild I RP'd Aderlee in after I transferred him to Ravenholdt was an evil guild meant to terrorize Kingdom of the Sun and Silvermoon City, and Aderlee is a pretty evil guy anyways. I have a handful of other characters that have some flavor of evil from DnD and other games.
Have you been part of any other guilds in World of Warcraft? If so, who were they and what server do or did they reside on? Let us know of your experience with them and what made you decide to either leave or continue to stay.
- This may be a long list, but in short yes. All servers are US.
RABD, Detheroc - This was the first guild I joined when I played WoW. When WotLK released, my co-workers were all a part of this guild and convinced me to buy WoW, so out of the 20 or so members in RABD I worked with about half of them IRL. We left after a year due to a falling out we all had with the guild master, and I almost exclusively raided and did PVE content with RABD.
Exiled, Detheroc - After leaving RABD, we joined Exiled in time for ICC and raided with our new guild. I eventually left to transfer Aderlee to Ravenholdt because I wanted to role play, and I transferred him the day before Cataclysm released, though I had already been roleplaying on several other characters on Ravenholdt. Exiled was much larger with 100+ players and two 25 man raid groups. I had a good experience raiding with them.
Silver Dragon Outriders, Ravenholdt - My friends and I created Silver Dragon Outriders to roleplay a mercenary type group on the horde. We were a fairly small guild for Ravenholdt at the time, and we eventually disbanded to merge with Kingdom of the Sun for guild perks (but roleplayed a month long story arch for the merge). We mostly role played, but a few of us would travel to wherever local defense said was under attack for world PvP.
Kingdom of the Sun/Sunstorm Confederation, Ravenholdt - Kingdom of the Sun was a very large blood elf guild at the time, and changed their guild rules of blood elves only to merge our guilds. We eventually combined with a third guild and changed our name to Sunstorm Confederation. Looking back at it now, I can safely say KotS and SC were pretty much Game of Thrones, the guild. While in this guild, I quit playing WoW so I could focus my energy on school and ended up taking a six month break from WoW. When I returned, everyone had server transferred to Wyrmrest Accord, and one of my friends still playing had transferred to Alliance. I transferred Tayissa and Matthias to the alliance and then joined Twilight Empire. I couldn't bring myself to faction transfer Aderlee, my first character, so he remained a troll.
Twilight Empire, Ravenholdt - Without Aderlee to RP, my main character became Tayissa (who was no longer a blood elf), so joining TE felt like starting fresh. I'm still with TE and they are my main guild, as Tayissa is my main character. I'm sure everyone here has a good grasp on what TE is, and I love being a part of it. Although the guild has been shrinking since I joined, I haven't left because of the great community it has and general good times had OOC and in other games we play together. I mostly RP and PvP, and no longer PvE after the raid group closed shop.
Sanctuary, Ravenholdt - I honestly haven't done a single thing with Sanctuary after joining them several months ago, besides one small RP session with Kexti to join. I think they have lots of great people, but I'm leaving them to apply to The Grim due to simply not interacting with the guild very much. As I spend more time on Aderlee, I find myself interacting with many other guilds instead, and I would like to be in a more active guild.
Are you applying on an alt (non-main) character? If so, what are you looking for here that you are not getting from your main character? If you are feeling honest or adventurous, please let us know who your main is.
- Aderlee is not my main character, as I have mentioned Tayissa (alliance) is my main. I get plenty of enjoyment from my main, but I enjoy RPing characters with wildly different personalities and I enjoy RPing Aderlee's personality very much.
What race and class is this character? Why did you choose this race and class?
- Aderlee is a troll priest. Priest and paladin were the only classes that non of my co-workers had as a main, and I wanted to play something different from them. I didn't want to play as a blood elf at the time (only option for Paladins), so I decided on priest and thought trolls liked pretty bad as.
What are your expectations for your character after joining The Grim? What aspect of the game do you wish to focus on (raids, rated battlegrounds, arenas, challenge modes, achievements, etc.)?
- My expectation for joining The Grim is to get involved more with the guild's roleplay and events. Besides RP, I am very interested in rated battlegrounds. I joined you guys for a handful of RBGs several weeks ago and had a great time, and I would love to do it again.
What is your PvE (player-versus-environment) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a raid environment? Do you have any PvE experience from other MMO games?
- I've raided during WotLK, and did not raid again until Draenor. For Cataclysm and Pandaria, I enjoyed experiencing the dungeons and scenarios, but did not raid. I've mostly raided as a shadowpriest, survival/marksman hunter, assassination rogue, but would like to heal and learn to tank. I have limited flashpoint experience from SWTOR.
What is your PvP (player-versus-player) experience in World of Warcraft? What classes and roles do you enjoy the most in a PvP environment? Do you have any PvP experience in other MMO games?
- After role play, PvP is my top priority in WoW. I love doing BGs, RBGs and world PvP. I stopped enjoying arenas during Cataclysm and have done very few since then, but I used to do 3s on a regular basis. Most of my experience is with a survival/marksman hunter and assassination rogue, but lately I've been healing as discipline, and am exploring destruction warlock and both kinds of feral druid. I've mostly enjoyed a DPS role, but I really enjoy charging into a full raid group as a bear from time to time. As for Aderlee, I don't enjoy shadow so I prefer a healing role. I like experimenting with different classes to learn the ins and outs of each spec, thus learning the strengths and weaknesses of each class so I can counter it better when I meet them in PvP. I've done a lot of PvP in SWTOR and a little bit in Warhammer Online.
Did you read and understand our guidelines on character names, listed at the beginning of this application? (Please note, if your name does not fall within our guidelines and you do not want to do a name change, you are more than welcome to apply under a different character.)
- I have read and understood the guidelines.
How is your computer performance when playing World of Warcraft? What is your FPS/load times during heavy graphical or high population times? Is your internet connection stable?
-
During heavy graphical/high population times, I have a steady 12-25 fps. It's definitely much lower than I'd prefer, but my game doesn't stutter and I've grown accustomed to it over the last seven years playing WoW. My internet connection is very stable, but I am moving at the end of the month so I hope it will remain stable.
Provide an armory link to your character.

What days/times do you typically play this character?
- I log in almost every day to do my follower missions at a minimum. I try very hard to cap my conquest points every week, but the days I do this will vary, mostly during the weekend. Due to work, during the week I am never online before 4:00pm pst and most of my playing time is during the weekend.
Have you read the Required Reading? Do you have any questions or concerns about anything there?
- I have read the required reading and do not have questions or concerns.
Have you read the Mandate? Do you have any questions or concerns about it? Can your character live by it?
- I have read the mandate, have no questions or concerns, and my character can live by it.
Do you have anything further to add?
- You guys are a lot of fun, let us continue to have more fun!
Aderlee
