That's Europe so I guess ours finishes the day before ... so we have at least until then to get spine, possibly a week later?

Re: PvP Season 11 Ending Soon
I for one despise any game mechanic that denies me the ability to RBG. So freaking what the season ended?! I should still be able to RBG and run Arenas just without getting rewarded with ranks, titles, ratings, etc. Don't even bring up War Games and the like as they're a joke.
EDIT: I guess the only way to compare how stupid this mechanic is would be to put a season on raiding. Ohhh its the end of the raiding season you can't enter your raids now. Wait what?!

Re: PvP Season 11 Ending Soon
What's the joke about War Games? No achievements... or playing with people whose names you know beforehand?
You can't compare the tiered raiding with rated battlegrounds - one is competitive play and one is not. If raiding was to become an e-sport or hold some counter to compare to other raid teams? Sure... but the current way of things is comparing melons with fruitcakes.
5-man Battlegrounds. Gooooo!

Abric, my balls on your chin. Balls and chins aside:
The joke about war games is that you have to find 20 people that want to RBG... that's a problem since we usually have trouble finding 10. Ley and I pretty much built a cross faction and cross server network of PvPers just so we can run regularly.
Also you only get better when you fight people better than you. If we do war games against the same people for more than a week then I start punching small fluffy innocent animals. You don't want the bunnies to suffer do you? Then let me freaking RBG during off season.

Re: PvP Season 11 Ending Soon
I still don't see the joke. War Games are a valuable tool - and the idea that you only get better by playing against better people makes me a very sad person to hear. PvP is about muscle memory and understanding your Rock-Paper-Scissors game (or having a mod to do it for you). Practicing that against someone who you can get direct feedback from is extremely valuable, not only for you but for the person you are beating on. If something worked, they can try to counter it. If they can counter it, then you try something new or do something in a different order. If it just so happens to be a guild or playmate... then you've enhanced two peoples experience in whatever combination or situation that happened (i.e. warlock defending flag against rogue. Healer defending flag for thirty seconds. What to send and not send against a blood knight defending a flag. Good class combination for ninjaing flag. Crowd control synergy between a moonkin and mage. Sticking melee-buff people and spell-buff people to work as a team. etc.)
I presume you are more annoyed that you can't 10-man a battleground over anything else? Because doing an RBG (read: rated) off-season defeats the purpose of an RBG... except for the fact that you bring ten people over five. Of course, the value of ten does not always outdo five. It isn't the group of eight that has been kicking our ass (when I've been present), it's been the group of 3-5.

<--- Gives 0 fucks
Yes it is extremely lame that my only option to battleground from Aug28th until they decide to let us do it again will be to join 5 fuckmooked strangers that I would reallllly rather not play with. We can agree to disagree on this point but why the hell can't I take 10 people into a battleground?! Because the opposition would be stomped right? 10 coordinated folks against 10 PuGs would just be nasty ugly. Oh wait the solution would be to let me do 10v10 using the battleground finder.
In case you've never noticed this I don't login off season except to level up and assign tasks. Is it wrong? Yes a little bit since I am somewhat of am example to other players. If I were not an officer/inquisitor I would literally only login to get to 90 and then wait for RBGs.

Re: PvP Season 11 Ending Soon
Being aggravated about not being able to do some 10-man battlegrounds is cool... but the blah-blah-blah associated with it is silly.
The time between 28 August and 5 October is pretty big. While folks who may be strictly interested in rated battlegrounds will not find a lot of things to do - shitting on things that will enhance gameplay in preparation for the beginning of rated battlegrounds shows a lack of commitment and an understanding of how one improves in a team environment. Saying you do not care about that does a lot of injustice to those that do - and those who spend time attempting to have people care about it.
28 August is also when we get the big revamp. Abilities and talents are going to be different, so folks are going to have to work on getting adjusted to it. While there will be time to do that during the leveling process... folks are leveling - not really concerned on when to click what when a certain class shows up. When you (generally speaking) hit level 90, then the battleground grind begins. Taking that time to learn your shit is going to be detrimental to your winning - because if you go in half-cocked... you're going to get a lot more losses than you are wins - and that means a lot more grinding with those 5 other people you don't know and seem to do all the wrong things at the right time.
Team fundamentals are essential - and something we have been lacking - both by the numbers, the win/loss ratio, and the matches that I've gone to. Not being concerned with rating allows people to work on those fundamentals. We're going to see a lot of people taking a bit of a WoW break during September, which is just fine ... but for those who are serious about getting a rating over 2000 (or winning a hell of a lot more than losing)... this is the opportunity to get to know your buddy(ies) and really grind down on the cutting edge of understanding new abilities, new tactics, and new situations on syphoning the fun out of other people by beating their avatars into the dirt.
The short of it? Sand out of the vagina, buttercup. It's time for you to practice on being good.

Re: PvP Season 11 Ending Soon
Abric. We did this for an entire season and you're counting on something that isn't realistic: A roster. Yeah let's practice our team fundamentals with the people who won't be here next week. When I first started RBGs I took individuals aside and taught them everything that I could which may not be a ton but I saw it help each person I did it with.
Then those people one by one left. The only person I've done training with that stayed was Leyujin. Even Deminthus and Kazimuth have left. They were promoted to be a cornerstone of our PvP wing and they don't even play. Yeah we can talk about team fundamentals all day. Find me a roster that quits changing and I'll care a LOT more.
Look at the roster for last week. The only player who is on the SB roster last week that was also on it at the beginning of the season is Kalest Mohan and I. I'm not frustrated with RBGs, teams, rosters, ratings, etc. because I've gotten over worrying and being stressed about and now it's nothing but my "fun time". You're very right that it can be portrayed as shitting on those who are focusing on these aspects and for that I now feel a little bad. Good job! :P
Edit: Smiley face added so you know I'm not pissy

Re: PvP Season 11 Ending Soon
Just wanna point out, I show up week in, week out...and I am just as grumpy as not getting to RBG after the 28th.
However, it does give me time to get good with that new talent format thingy...

Re: PvP Season 11 Ending Soon
The talent revamps are a joke. They're doing the exact same thing that they did with Cataclysm: Let's change what's already there instead of adding something new.
Everything about this expansion just pisses me off.
