C&C Generals 2

Unread post by Ashenfury »

I really liked Command and Conquer until they brought the aliens in. I haven't played a C&C game since. Right before they started bringing in motherships and other stupid shit they went for a realism approach with Generals and it is by far my favorite C&C game to date (excluding the original, that shit is well aged extra sharp cheese).

God yes. I *loved* Generals, despite not being a huge fan of RTS or the C&C franchise. Maybe because of that. I was accessible, easy to play, fun to master, light on story, but what was there was well done- and more over, it was funny. I was in boarding school when this came out; blue cables strangled the dorms and we played the shit out of this game. I used to love playing China. Heavy handed and slightly evil, but rich in euphemistic propaganda. GLA was funny too. Good music as well. It was like the RTS version of Vice city- where the writing went more into ambient humour than an obtrusive plot, but the game itself stood on solid enjoyable mechanics.

2013 is ages away though. Still, Generals will be awesome. I loved that gonzo-journalistic style of narrative too. I'm fairly confident Bioware won't screw it either. All in all this is great news.
