Oh you cheeky monkeys. I had to connect to an Asian VPN for it to decrypt the game files. I quickly disconnected and I've been playing since.
You can log into battlelog without having to any high jinks though.
http://battlelog.battlefield.com/
That should get you in to customize your soldier and play around with platoons until it's released or you decide to VPN it. Of course we're so close now that I guess it doesn't really matter.

Yes, I found a safe one. It was a public VPN named Trojan Horse. Seems legit.
